It is worth the cost. The black is so deep, very popular color now is deepest black, and the color of the orange is truly very special.

Comparing this build to the 12 hour one, I'd say that if this guitar (being made the way it has up to this point) were to be given a 12 hour time frame, Ben would be fine. I do wonder if Ben were to sit down and write out the entire sequence of work for a build, how much time he'd save when setting himself a time limit. There seems to be a fair bit of going up and down stairs & in and out of the machine area. With a plan to go by I think he could get all the jobs that need to be done downstairs in one go, then follow on with everything else he could do upstairs on his bench. Also setting one or more tool makers to prep the cutters needed before the end of the previous day when a build like this comes along again.....If it does. I do very much love being subscribed to Crimson, and hope to see another project in the near future. Much love peeps.

I like scrapers for non figured woods but i find it's just easier to sand to a higher grit that to use a blade on figured wood because tear out. under finish you won't notice much difference between a blade and 600 grit sandpaper in most cases.

Bolt-on IS the way, always. There are only advantages to be had by using them in terms of servicing, repair, adjustability and interchangeability and no downsides. That's why everyone from Fender to Music Man to Ibanez to Ken Parker all use them on everything from budget models to $30k arch tops. Every part on a guitar should be independently adjustable and interchangeable just like an F-1 race care, a fighter jet, rifle or PC. It's long since time that through necks and glue joints go the way of the Dodo.
@heathbarnhart10928 жыл бұрын
Ben, to fix the mistake could you have made the hole for the jack, then drilled through all the cavities at once? Or is there too much elevation difference to hit both pickups and the switch cavity?

Sort of speaking of necks and holes. Are there bent screwdrivers I can adjust A truss rod on (for a vintage style fender) without removing the neck. I got like a 1/4-1/3 inch space? Maybe a half..

It really wasn't a mistake by not drilling the holes for the wiring it was done out of order is all.there are several small things I mite have done in different order to make it easier or faster in the long run.

Do you guys know who Bob Ross is? He had a series called "The Joy Of Painting"... Ben is the Bob Ross of guitar making. I've sat here watching the 12 hour build back-to-back (no sleep that night, ha ha!), and now I'm working my way through this 9 hour build. This might even get me the courage up to try and make a guitar. I really want to, but I'm a bit lacking in skills. Watching this though, I keep thinking "maybe I could do that... not as well, and not as quick, but maybe..." :-D

Go For it. I just finished my second one and its WAY better than the first. The only thing I would say is don't go ape shit buying power tools. Besides the hand tools necessary, I've been able to complete a couple decent guitars with a BIG( I got lucky on a craigslist 20") bandsaw, A couple routers (2HP plunge and 1/4" palm) , a planer, a jointer and a worm saw.
