i think what frustrates me the most about modern cringe culture is that it's still the same as it was back then for 90% of the people who get targeted from it. except now, if you have clout or are an attractive face online, you'll get a lot less hate for "liking cringe" or "being cringe" because you can pass it off as being ironic or a joke. it's even considered charming to be cringe in some cases. however, it's still super common to dunk on kids, neurodivergent people, and other unpopular creators constantly - you just have to look harder to find it... but because it's not "trendy" to spread this hate anymore, barely anyone pays attention to it, even if it's still happening. edit -- also, i'm all for considering stuff "cringe" when it comes to people ACTUALLY doing bad things. 100%.

That's definitely a great point! I have also certainly noticed how more popular/well-liked creators are often less criticised for liking things that are deemed "cringe" while less popular creators and/or kids can be bullied or dogged on for liking the same things. I agree that it's definitely a really gross standard.

Everything I found "cringe" as a middle schooler are things that I find adorable now. Like damn, this kid knows how to have a better time than I do. I'm glad they're making anything at all.

Cringe culture is really harmful to the mental health community >< I see a lot of "did faker cringe" "fake disorder cringe" videos and sub-communities online that horribly perpetuate stigmas against the mentally ill and those with chronic disorders. They are a breeding ground for false information and their existence makes it very hard for those suffering with acute/chronic mental health issues to seek help they deserve.

Basically people decided they felt bad directly bullying nd and mentally ill people so instead they get videos of nd and mentally ill people, pretend they’re lying about their disorder to ‘get an excuse’ and _then_ bully them. (There are of course some people who do fake, but I guarantee a lot people who watch those cringe comps don’t do it to figure out the fakers, they do to make fun of neurodivergent traits, real or not)

I watch Cringe Comps because some of the content in there don't actually have a lot of complations made for them like TikTok fairies. ♡ I support the creativity of kids and hate when they are put into cringe comps, like why is being a kid cringe? Me and my friends used to role-play as fairies, wolves, werewolves, teachers and students, hospital patients and practically everything, the only difference was we didn't make videos about it online we played outside

The sad thing is that Cringe Culture has existed since the dawn of man and forever been tied to the mocking and ridiculing of others; as long as those practices exist, it will never die. That's why it's important to view all work of art in a new light and perspective, as an analysis of of the artist's soul. What been viewed as cringe in the past, should now be viewed as a form of expression.

I've been made fun of with a Bad KZbinrs video made by some preteen/young teenager about 3 months ago and then when I found out about it, I actually reported it because they legit took a real life picture of me without my permission and basically made up a bunch of bullshit about me about how my audience was basically for kids when in reality, my content's audience is mainly teens/young adults and adults. And for the most part, they actually just called me "cringe" during the entire video. Then, 2 days later the video was taken down by KZbin themselves because not only did I report the video but all my friends and fans had also reported it for bullying/harassment as well as privacy violation. So that's my experience. But yeah, I agree with you on this video as a whole. Cringe culture is literally, in my opinion, cringe itself as well as being very toxic. Those types of people need to just be smited off the face of the earth 'cause they're nothing but pure pieces of garbage in my eyes. Anyways, that's about all I've gotta say really. Cringe culture is absolutely ridiculous. You don't get to tell me or someone else to kill themselves just because they identify as something you don't agree with. I don't need your "consent" to go outside dressed as my real self. A pattern I notice with these cringe culture participants is that they also hold the idea that calling someone mentally ill is an insult, when that kind of behavior perpetuates harmful stereotypes. I've been called delusional a whole lot, for example, and I actually do experience delusions. They always defend themselves by saying they're "just reality-checking me." INSULTING SOMEONE IS NOT A REALITY CHECK. "If you think you're an animal, you're delusional and killing yourself would benefit society" does waaaaay more harm than good. I'm able to speak, I'm able to type, I'm able to use the internet - clearly I'm self-aware... (and my delusions aren't even related to my therianthropy.)

The Wolfychu drama was wild because the main criticism (from what I saw) was that people claimed she was faking her voice (for those who haven't heard it, Wolfychu has a really high pitched voice) The fact that a big drama for someone having a high pitched voice is a ridiculous.
