Jesus Christ I haven't even finished watching the video I'm barely halfway through and I already heavily relate to teen syzygy. I'm 15 right now but I'm going to be 16 in June and I remember (and yes I counted) I had about three or two almost adult dudes ask me if I was comfortable doing explicit RPS-- but one in particular acted almost exactly like the one in this video with art. But to be fair to him I did what syzygy did and I never stated exactly what I was uncomfortable doing or said no to a lot of stuff or made it very clear that I was uncomfortable which I should have. But even if I did I feel like that probably wouldn't have stopped the dude from being weird cuz at some point he asked me for my picture-----

Another thing that's super important for all artists (especially young ones). For people like the user messaging Syzgy, the drawing is often a small part of the kink. While they may be happy to get the final piece, usually they are fishing for engagement. There were multiple parts in the story where they purposely pushed boundaries with the hopes of a reaction where they would be told off and 'humiliated'. It's really sad how often this happens to artists so for your own well-being, keep an eye out for this boundary-pushing behavior. As Syzgy said, the best thing to do is block and move on if you feel like your boundaries aren't being respected and/or you feel the other person is trying to involve you with their kink.

This is really helpful for me. I’ve been doing art online since I was 13, but it’s always mostly been fanart, and not particularly good. So as I come into my own as an artist, it’s good to have some advice about what’s normal in art trades and stuff (I just completed my first one and was very satisfied with the result).

Mad respect for this video!!! While it is totally fine & valid for minors to draw stuff like that, it's not good to share it yet. Even people who are 18-20 or _even older_ should be careful on the internet so they don't bump into people like this & have it turn sour! Stay safe out there, y'all. No matter your age, do background checks & do research on who you're talking to just to be safe, especially if you're doing an art trade or comm with them!

Hearing these horror stories makes me so greatful that I ended up starting my commissions on a kids game with kids my own age instead of creepy adults. I still had people that would try and BS me but at least I didn’t have creepy adults.

I've done a few art trades and even looking sometimes at the person's profile. Sometimes you have to be careful because some will put up other art trades or commissions and so you think that is their art. I've only had that happen a few times but it threw my brain into a loop when it happened lol The 2nd part doesn't really have to do with the video it's just a story that I was reminded of for some reason Also this for some reason made me remember something that happened to me last year. And it still bugs me. So this one person saw I put my birthday out on the open (Mostly to show that I'm no longer a child after my birthday that year) I had it up before that too I just added the year or something. (Took that down now) and it started out them wanting art from me to wanting to get to know me for no other reason then sharing a birthday. And that I found a bit creepy. I voiced that then reading what parts I do have saved that are easy to find. And it just felt so much like "Your looking to much into this" but I remember at one point the dude being like "I WANT TO FIX YOU!" then I blocked them I don't have that saved I think I deleted it because it creeped me out or my old computer ate it when it died. Just wasn't fun.

Yikes... they definitely seem like a.... predator. I'm so sorry you had to deal with them...though I will say you are absolutely not at fault for making mistakes. I'm 22, and when I was 16 I was definitely vulnerable and afraid to speak out and establish my own boundaries. So I'm proud of you for being able to do so in the first place, it's hard to do sometimes. Especially when the person is older than you.

I wanted to point out something in the video that's an edit mistake I believe. I know you possibly can't do anything to stop this but it's best if you probably can establish it in the pinned comment or something. Starting at 7:21, the bottom message shows the person's username and profile picture. Again I'm sure it was unintentional but I thought it'd be best to let you know so you can do something to possibly announce it and tell them to not do it. Then again a lot of people probably didn't notice so there's always that to consider lol

How do art trades work exactly? I’m commenting this before the video starts so if you explain in the vid sorry!! Do you pay eachother or just give each other the art? I really want to do one soon but I don’t know how it works. ❤❤

Hello! I don't think I explained it in the video, so I'll help you out here. Essentially, to do an art trade, you can DM an artist that has "art trades open" in their bio (usually on Twitter, Instagram, or DeviantArt), or I suppose you could DM and ask if their trades are open if they don't have it in their bio. I recommend providing them with examples of your own work upfront. If they accept, then you both tell each other what you'd like the other to draw (you generally will draw each other's OCs). After that, you each draw what the other asked for and trade art, no monetary compensation required! As some tips I would recommend: Ask the other person when they'll be finished with their half of the art trade, and also make sure you both agree on what level of work you'd both like to do. You never want to put in the full effort of doing a fully-rendered fullbody character, and getting a flat colour headshot in return. Hope that helps!

I don’t want to like… project but was the persons user @ImAPatheticMess??? I’m on Devian art and I got a message very similar to this about the same exact thing last year (2021). He messaged me saying he wanted to commission me (I do furry art commissions and have stated that I’m a minor) and he asked for the character junky from danganronpa doing the same thing that the person in the video asked. I quickly blocked him and deleted the messages but I just wanted to know?

It's always DeviantArt XD well, I prefer that over instagram for art, but I still deal with people. I don't deal with it a lot, but luckily I do get a lot of favorites. I have only dealt with creeps a few times luckily. I'm no longer a minor, but I was when I started DeviantArt. I just don't like to draw nudity because I'm a straight girl and I don't like drawing stuff for people to just jerk off to, instead of jerking off with a real person. The dude was only 19? Couldn't he find a nudity irl, like get a girlfriend? He's young, it's not like he's 45 and toothless like most of the dudes who ask for nswf art. A few days ago, i did a art trade with a AMAZING artist on ROBLOX free draw! let them draw my slugcat oc, and i drew their oc, its was calm, normal. But it really sucks that that happened! From my knowledge there is no law saying miners can't draw lewd, NSFW or any other type of adult only art work. That said anyone knowingly asking a young person for this stuff is a creep, probably trying to groom a young person they feel would be a good target. So block ignore, don't engage at all.

not sure why it's bad to draw nsfw stuff for people as a minor, boundaries aside, if you're ok with it and draw nsfw in general as a minor what's the problem, it's not like you're sending nudes or something it's just drawings that doesn't have anything to do with age, what's the danger, they don't know you, they can't do anything to you, they have no blackmail or anything since it's just a drawing of a character, expecially if you're laready 16-17 i'd hope you'd be smart enough to know your own boundaries, just art, nothing else, no problem
