Excellent review. I've had mine for a week - years ago, I tried FPV but did not have the time to build everything from scratch. Thie Avata 2 changes the game as the barrier to entry is removed.

Great video, thank you for posting. 06:30 this data about range can be translated also by obstacle penetration. The more range you are able to go, usually means you will be able to fly behind more trees and other obstacles nearby without loosing the signal.😊

Great post! Love everything you covered. Main point for me I’d say is the near-view around you, where you double-tapped for nearby viewing, I never use that, I do the double-side click on the motion controller know you use for acro-mode. Few people talk about that as I can never seem to get the side of the goggles to work consistently for me. Great posts, will watch this one several more times, there is always something new to learn, refresh up on. Great job!🇺🇸

Great video! Really informative. I’ve been flying drones for years, since the original DJI phantom was released. Many videos I watched before purchasing the DJI Avata 2 typically stated that the joystick motion controller was a gimmick and the stick controller was the way to go. After buying it and flying it with both I prefer to fly it with the motion controller, it is more fun and enjoyable imo. I also have played alot of flight sims with a joystick so it feels very similar. Thanks for the great review.

This might be a dumb question. I wear glasses (am allergic to contacts). How do the goggles work with glasses? Or is there an adjustment in the goggles for different eye types?
@cris_photography
@cris_photography 7 ай бұрын
Hello 👋🏼 You have separate diopter adjustment for the left and right eye to compensate for glasses 😉 so you don’t have to worry about that! I talk about it somewhere in the video and show how it works in case. Cheers !

I can’t seem to keep from watching what all it can do. From the first Avata, the fascination has been there. I have Mini 3 & 4 Pro, and wanted to try using goggles with the Mini 4 Pro that is now compatible to use them. Don’t want to just get the goggle and motion controller…but have to decide soon… Thanks!

Great video that touches on all of the key points! I've had my Avata 2 since the day after launch I'm loving it. I'm coming from about 2 years flying the Air 2s (which I still love), so I'm not completely new, but this is my first FPV. I bought the FPV v3 controller as I want to be able to fly manual mode, though it's been windy, so I've kept the attitude limit on so far. The motion controller still seems to get a lot of hate, but it's definitely not a gimmick. It's more than just "fun" - it's an incredibly easy way to fly FPV and can be used to get some fantastic shots (as you and many other have demonstrated). It's just an awesome drone and I couldn't be happier with it.

max speed , is very slow, unless you pay extra for one more proprietary controller. It should offer full speed (same as manual mode) using the motion controller.

Hey there, the speed isn’t limited in manual mode, what is is the distance (range). The speed really depends on your camera angle (meaning, the more you tilt your camera down, the more the drone will have to compensate and the faster it’ll go). So if you manage to reach the 97km/h they claim you can go, if the range is 2km in Europe you won’t go very far basically. Manual mode - as its name indicates - have way less restrictions and is fully manual so you decide your speed. Hope this can be helpful to you Cheers
@Ripy0
@Ripy0 7 ай бұрын
In the EU, the Avata 2 is limited to 19m/s in Manual Mode. There is some tweak to get around it, but in this Case your Avata 2 becomes another Droneclass with way more restrictions. Sadly thats the point why i'm not going to get one. 😢

I just got this drone and it is a pleasure to fly, with the MC. It is as with another dji mini i have, reliable, well designed, it does what it suppose to do and it does it extremely well. It gives a sence of security i never felt with regular analogue fpv whoops. I think, as usual, people are judging a fish by its ability to clim trees. This is NOT for freestyle fpv, if you want that, find a drone designed for that, this is not. If you want 200km an hour drone, which you probably won't be able to control, get one that has been designed for that, the Avata 2 is NOT that. Now within its class, i do not think there is a better drone outthere, this is the Mercedes of cine whoops. ( for the moment)

Hello !!! I have an Obsidian Special Edition Phantom 4 in BRAND NEW condition. I’ve only flown it 6 times max . So I’m use to this VERY LARGE drone. So NOW that Remote ID is MANDATORY , I’m considering buying this Avata 2 . Looks much more fun, Smaller etc. Can you discuss how Remote ID is incorporated in the Avata2 and if so, how does it work ? Is there a device already installed? Is it just software? I really want to have a drone with all newer features that’s ready to fly at a moments notice. No plugging in my phone, Dealing with software , etc. Thanks. Would love your thoughts!

Hi there! Thanks for your message. Keep in mind that the Avata is heavier than 250g - therefore considered a "bigger" drone, or rather a drone that needs licensing (like any other DJI drone besides the mini). Fun wise: much more fun - yes! BUT it all depends on the purpose you have with it. For example for work, I'd use my Air 2s rather to get photos and steady shots, but sometimes you might need a little drone to get more immersed and change the feel a bit and that can be fun too. You have everything ready (need to plug the goggles to your phone the first time you use it to download software updates, etc. but otherwise you can use it without). I think it'd be a great change and prolly an upgrade from the Phantom 4 indeed! Take care

@@cris_photography a friend of mine had a go with my avata 2 and as he said he wanted it tight so that it didn’t move, that’s probably why he had a mark on his forehead. I’ve noticed that it feels like it needs to be tight too, but it just might be myself. Q

The battery being part of the goggles is annoying! When I go fly I bring like 4 drones! That battery is not enough for a day at the field! (Well if you always have the avata then yes) I like the old one because I just swapped it with a brand new battery 100% instantly

My problem is that I live in a country/city, that I have to go 40-60 minutes away to fly my Avata 1 without having neighbors or police complaining, even with permits and licenses. I'd love to get an Avata 2, but I'm not "wonderlustin traveling". Maybe on black friday or end of the year... I have other priority expenses such as upgrading my flip smartphone which turns off when I flip it (don't ever get one), a new laptop (I have an M1 MBP, but knowing Apple, it will start failing soon, no mac has ever lasted me more than 4 years, even with repairs) and daily expenses, which are rising as I type this. I'm a hobbyist, but don't have the time to dedicate myself to droning full time and there are hurdles where I live. Let's see what the future lays for me, I want one sooo bad, all the bad things about the 1st iteration are kinda solved, some kinks will be fixed with updates. I already got a flying potato og DJI FPV and Avata 1, +100 hours on liftoff... Can't justify an 1.6k purchase right now, in a country without care refresh.

if you have the Avata 1 is not worth it, I have both and the differences are not enough to upgrade if you have the Avata 1, but if you don't have any then of course is good to have one for sure. I even got a micro FPV to get better flying Acro and now I don't even fly the Avata anymore. the micro FPV is so much more fun because Im not scare of crashing it.

@@djchino yeah, I considered getting a custom small whoop a while ago, but DJI has spoiled me and it's kind of a hassle having no smart batteries. I probably won't be getting more drones, love em, but they are almost worthless where I live...
