As a member of the Uptown Horns, Crispin Cioe was inducted into the New England Music Hall of Fame. The Uptown Horns features Crispin Cioe (alto and baritone), Arno Hecht (tenor), Bob Funk (trombone), and Larry Etkin (trumpet) They were inducted into the New England Music Hall of Fame at the end of their performance with The Hollywood Allstars in at a benefit concert in Waterbury. Grammy-nominated songwriter, producer, and keyboardist of The Hollywood Allstars Steve Gaspar presented each of the Uptown Horn members with a plaque, handcrafted by local New England artists.
Since The Uptown Horns’ inception in 1980, the group received recording credits on over 150 albums, including James Brown’s Living in America, as well as tracks for artists like Bonnie Raitt, Joe Cocker, and REM. Members have gone on to perform with big-name acts like The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, and Robert Palmer.
