NOT ANOTHER COOKING SHOW

Күн бұрын

Today we tackle the basics of crispy roasted broccolini or broccoli. Broccolini is like broccoli rabe but tastes like regular broccoli, it's more expensive but I like to splurge. This recipe will teach you how to make delicious roasted broccolini (or broccoli) any night of the week, but we’re also gonna take it one step further and show you how to make it fit for the healthy holiday side dish with the addition of red chilies, pine nuts, parmesan cheese and some lemon zest. Getting a head start on good easy holiday 2018 recipes. I hope you stay tuned for my hosting for the holidays special coming up in November and December.

Thanks Ry, Don't waste my time treating them any other way. Grilled is nice too. I just got into quartering whole broccoli florets and then marinating them in teryaki or soy sauce and charring on the grill. Still a little crunch but charred. Super good and easy.

Nice video! So many people think vegetables are an afterthought next to protein and starch. They can be the star of the show and in this case they are. Watching this makes me want snow outside.

Hey I am a recovering addict who has worked in gastronomy especially kitchens since I was 16 years old, I am now starting an apprenticeship in as a cook in a pretty nice hotel and i really dont want to fall back because I love cooking. So I just wondered what your thoughts on drug and alcohol abuse in gastronomy are and how is your day to day? How do you stay healthy?

You stay away from the wrong people and you respect yourself enough prioritize taking care of yourself above all else until you’ve really gotten a handle on yourself and have self awareness and control...the past 2 years we’re my attempt at correcting course in life...you have to do the hard work on yourself. Some never do...but those that do reap the benefits. And with this global lockdown, no better time than now to get to know yourself and become your own best friend again. When you are you’re own best friend, you don’t do things to yourself that will hurt or harm you. At least that’s my perspective and since I haven’t dealt with the addiction that you do, I hope that’s advice that applies regardless! Much live and stay safe

Broccoli and broccolini are two different things. It's actually not just a language thing. Broccolini is leafier and a bit bitter. Sort of what broccoli used to be before it became broccoli trees.

Like you, I also hated broccoli as a kid; mostly because my father would boil it until he made sure it was dead and won't get resurrected by the vegetable Gods. Years later, I saw Ina Garten roast broccoli and decided to try it out...I didn't even use spices or other flavors to mask it, just salt, pepper and olive oil...let's just say roasted broccoli is my new bacon now! I've never tried broccolini, but if it shares the same taste profile as broccoli then I can only imagine how good this recipe is with all the shallots, chili, and parm!

good recipe just makes sure to tell people to wash their vegetables; broccoli particularly organic often come directly from the field with very few washes...a 5 minute soak is recommended.

Wash your vegetables. Even if they're organic, there's dirt and bugs you don't want to eat. You bought broccolini and that's what you want to eat. So give it a swish around in some salted water and then stick it in your salad spinner to dry it out before you continue on with your recipe. Please. Even mushrooms.
