At least DC have done 3 decent movies lately where they gave creative control to the directors. David F Samberg : Shazam. Todd Phillips : Joker. James Gunn : The Suicide Squad. I would say on recent evidence there is more hope of entertaing DC movies on the horizon than in the direction that Marvel movies are headed.

I did really enjoy the Christopher Nolan films and the new one will do a good job if it compares favourably with those. Time will tell, we just have to wait and see.

Captain Edward Jellico was awesome. Most Star Trek is obsessed with "Authority Figure = Bad", but he came in and kicked ass. A terrific example of how a leader can be hard but fair. To be fair on the Agent Carter thing, in the Captain America movie they didn't put Steve in the front lines either. They had him doing publicity stunts for the military, so the higher ranks not understanding the value of a supersoldier is consistent. I'd reread the entire series from start to finish every time a new book would come out. I read that series for 14 years. I fear I'll never read it again, however, as the last book came out the same time my career ended from injuries I got on the job. It felt like two chapters of my life closing together. The show is going to be thoroughly ignored though, because we all onow how that's going to turn out.

Just throwing this out there - there was 1 white guy in the cast of Shang Chi and he was a villain and has his arse handed to him by shang chi. Naturally... have to keep pc police happy. Of course it's an MCU "diversity" piece so it will be a "great movie". Next year "wakanda forever" comes out so no doubt that one will automatically be another "masterpiece"

I could be considered a genuine fan of the Resident Evil movies. I didn't need them to be close to the video games and they gave people ample time to get used to that idea beforehand by telling them it was not gonna be an adaptation, so it's not fair to criticize them on those grounds at all. And beyond that, they're absolutely amazing. The first two are just genuinely good movies, but even then the second one got far crazier than the first and it just takes off from there. At some point Umbrella just had the ability to clone tens of thousands of people, give them artificial memories, construct entire towns for them - and then used them only as test subjects instead of repopulating the planet, and for some reasons they're all characters from previous movies, it's hilarious. Although I think the explanation for that is that there's yet another AI that went nuts and just carried out its programming as everyone higher up was dead and couldn't tell it to stop; and it used dna of Umbrella employees for the clones, hence the characters from previous movies. Even for me though, the last one was a flop. It unfortunately tried to have a story for some reason, which I thought we were long past, and I was right - it sort of ruined that explanation I just gave because it turns out that there are still higher ups of Umbrella somewhere, first of all, but it retcons the entire series to create some hackneyed corporate politics plot, it's pretty bizarre. It should've just given us the awesome white house zombie army assault that we were promised. That would've been the right move, the perfect ending to the perfect series. Instead we got this.

36:00 I would say nay. Everyone who hasn't seen anime used to get Cowboy Bebop as one of the first recommendations. (At least until 2016 now it's more MHA/AoT/FMA. I'm aware that Demon Slayer and others are recommended now as well, but they are fairly new, if they stay recommended a couple years later I'm happy to concede.)
