I honestly believe the reason the film is so short is due to all the agenda based scenes being cut out. This film was green lit, written and shot during the height of the gender politics era.. The monetary backlash they received for gaslighting their ENTIRE demographic forced them to (silently) reverse course. It can be seen in the edit and lack of story.. There’s NO WAY Disney would shoot a film with three females, a Muslim family, and ethnic diversity in triplicate, and completely leave out the girl power stuff.. The only one they were forced to keep was the “black girl magic” hashtag saying, and that’s due to editing.. That alone let’s me know there was more.. I believe they got scared after screenings and made a desperate decision to cut the agenda foolishness.. Which is why the movie of all fluff.. Two phases late, and a couple billion short I’d say..
@averybaumann

They'll never change, the next film will be just as woke or just fluff as this as despite lying multiple times in trailers, showing they understand exactly what fans want and refuse to do it. They best we can hope for is several hundred million spent filming the movie 10 times that failed every test screening because they replaced woke garbage with more woke garbage

I always use Next as an example of that. Bright, too. Where you can see the rewrites or reedits because not one smoothed out the plot after the change. In both those movies you can see two writers arguing with each other in their drafts.

Remember, they mentioned using Kelly Sue Deconnick’s comics run as “inspiration.” Which explains why the character development is non-existent, the plot incoherent, and the story nonsensical. This movie’s just as empty-headed as she is.

Who is Valkyrie? She was a side character in Thor3- and mostly not friendly until the end. She was insufferable in Thor4 and was fucking the director. Broad did an Old Spice commercial IN the movie, that's her biggest contribution to the whole franchise. More eye-roll inducing than the Mallrats reference in Captain Marvel. *Taika* was the worst thing to happen to the MCU since Brie herself. Dude resurrected 2 beloved characters just to make them both look like fucking idiots, cucked them with a race-swapped lady-dick, and most damningly ushered in this whole phase of formulaic hammy, hack-knee, 4th grader writing. The one thing he did right was giving us one last depiction of a violent Hulk. Planet Hulk wouldn't ever happen in the MCU and seeing him thrash Thor at least once was pretty dope... it was all downhill from there.

Jeremy kind of misses the forest for the trees. He said he doesn't think Superhero stuff is done but then is surprised The Flash didn't do better because it had Michael Keaton's Batman in it. But I think Jeremy or Ryan also said that Deadpool 3 will do good because of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. They are failing to recognize that no one cares about these characters anymore. Even the well-received fan favorite roles. Those days are done, and no one is really that interested to see old Superhero characters even if they liked them in the past. Superhero movies can be successful but you can't live off of past glories anymore because the passion for those things is just gone amongst the general public. It's over.

You absolutely nailed it. I grew up reading X-Men, and I actually leaned how to draw by trying to copy my favorite mutants; but just because Wolverine holds massive amounts of nostalgia for me doesn’t mean I’m going to go watch Deadpool 3. I’m not just done, I’m _DONE_ with Diznee Marvel. I’m very much not looking forward to seeing Diznee ruin the X-Men as they ruined the other classic characters, and I’m certainly not going to spend another dime to support a bunch of Corpos that despise me. Diznee, and everyone associated with them have burned the bridge between them and the fans. I don’t take lightly that they tried to bully fans into consuming their dreck by labeling us racist, sexist, misogynistic, bigoted, and every type of istaphobe they could conjure up. Revenge is dish best served cold, and my revenge is apathy. I just don’t care about _anything_ Diznee, or Hollywood put out. They are all heartless, and soulless CuItural Marxists, and they can fade into obscurity for all I care…I wouldn’t blink an eye.

It depends. Its certainly a factor that has been losing strength over the years. I dont know, but every time I think that the superhero genre is over someone throws a decent pitch that shows off the potential that you can still make off these legacy characters. Whether its solid yet different iterations of Batman, or James Gunn dusting off characters nobody has ever heard of. If its good, its good.

I disagree with the idea that smaller unknown superheroes aren't a possible box-office draw. Look at Iron Man as a almost completely unknown comic book hero. A simple redemption arc story, well written, with quality actors to bring the characters to life. They have to be about the character. Then it does seem to work. Although this is a truism for all true (good) storytelling.
@sivad1025
@sivad1025 7 ай бұрын
I don't disagree necessarily, but I don't think Iron Man is a great example. The superhero was an untapped genre that had just got a boost from the X-Men, Spider-Man and Dark Knight trilogies. People had a taste of what superhero movies could be and Iron Man got good word of mouth, capitalizing on that momentum. That momentum is completely gone. The novelty is gone. Even Iron Man has plot elements that would feel derivative if released today (pretty much the whole third act). So yes, a good movie could do well. But it's an uphill battle. The stars were aligned in 2008

With regards to arguments over what is woke, or what isn't. I think the key, regardless of the buzzword that is used, is that creators are attempting to convert their customers to their ideologies. That's a problem in and of itself, but worse is that the ideologies themselves are evil and repugnant. So, regardless of your personal tolerance for the inclusion of those ideologies, they are there, and people should be given the latitude to have their own tolerance for it.

About Attack on Titan, my first viewing was of the same impression but I have a different view of it after viewing it a second time. First time watching, the first season was great, the second was okay, the third picks up again with crazy moments, and then it kind of slows down again. This was before the final season part 2 and 3. But after watching some youtube channels showing me details I didn't notice before, I watched season 2 onwards with shock and awe as I get to separate my attachment from the main character and start to see how the "villains" of season 1 acted. You see the same scenes with a different view that you keep rewinding just to see the hints the mangaka (or the villains) dropped on the viewers. It's amazing. However, there's one thing that always bothers me but it bothers me with pretty much every story that involves "time" as part of the story these days. I just watched the final episode two days ago, I liked the action but didn't like the story as much. Somehow the manga is better for me for this part of the story.

I think part of the reason an all-powerful Superman worked and an all-powerful Captain Marvel doesn’t work is that Superman was “handicapped” by his moral code. Where Captain Marvel basically states that they’ve done everything they could and they have to leave (which rightly disappoints Miss Marvel), Superman would have said “No, we have to save everyone”, which would have made things much more difficult, but also much more exciting. One of the problems with hiring people who don’t know superheroes to write superhero movies is that they don’t understand how to make superheroes work. To make a Superman or Captain Marvel work, you don’t threaten them (which is difficult), but you instead threaten the people around them, especially people they care for (which might be difficult for apparently self-centered loners like Captain Marvel, but that’s yet another writer problem).

I think part of the slow pace was to help convey how batman felt, the start of the film (2 years in and all major crime stats were up) he comes across as melancholy and depressed. Hopefully they use the films length and pacing of the sequel to match the state of the batman at that time. Brightburn was good and different.

@1:14:04 "Nostalgia is a powerful drug." Nostalgia for who exactly? Millenials that saw Batman: TAS are not necessarily old enough to have seen Batman 89. And even in those 90s Batman movies, Bats wasn't necessarily the draw or what made those movies good, hence why they went with Val Kilmer and George Clooney. So Keaton isn't the nostalgic draw G&G says he is. Not that it would have mattered for the Flash movie, which was always going to be the crap version of Flashpoint Paradox. Ironically, Flashpoint Paradox is the perfect movie for Zack Synder to make; an alternate universe where everyone hates each other and wages a world war over it. Also remember that G&G was the one pushing for the Synder cut in the first place. Then Synder stabbed him in the back with #StopAsianHate virtue-signalling, implying that G&G was pro hate crime. So keep that in mind when he says he hates those movies.

I have written stories of fantasy, urban fantasy, epic fantasy, and sci-fi fantasy, with more to come. They are woven to honor the medium of storytelling, and to tell themselves. These stories do not fear their gritty character, and they do not denounce the powers which possess them. These stories are woven to pronounce a desired tale composed by their vessel.

"We're witnessing the death of the superhero genre..." While I agree with this statement, I wish it wasn't so. For the longest time I held out hope that Marvel would course correct and get back to basics. After seeing MoM and witnessing the debasement and humiliation of my last favorite Avenger, I no longer feel this way. I loved Cap, Tony, Black Widow, and the first incarnation of Thor. They told very interesting stories with a minimum of preach. It wasn't devoid of "the message" but it wasn't front and center either. The characters had arcs and it was interesting to see them progress through them. What I wish this was, is the death of pandering trash and a resurgence of talent. Sadly, I don't think this is to be. Hollywierd would rather let studios and franchisees burn to the ground before they would acknowledge that their corrupt sense of morality is, in fact, corrupt.

Great video with a lot of good points, I have to disagree with DdayCobra for most of his points, hes seems quite out of touch on the real issues. Almost all of these films failed not because of CGI, CGI used to be something marketable, but now that it is quite common, viewers are not wowed or lured to movies because of them. These films are bad mainly because of their writing and directing, plain and simple. Also there is nothing wrong with shared universe, its still extreme successful in other mediums of entertainment, like TV shows, video games etc, its just the writing and respecting the core material of these IPs that have already been established, consumed and supported by fans.

Jeremy hits the nail on the head when he says it isn't necessary superhero movie fatigue, it's fatigue with big cinematic universes. People are already tired of the endless phases of Marvel, and the general reaction to James Gunn announcing DC movies out into nearly 2030 was "Oh gawwwwwwddd......" Tight, one-off, self contained movies. That's what will revitalize the superhero genre at this point. Joker was a fluke but was also a template of sorts. The Batman would have been fine if they could have kept it to the basic premise and not diluted itself to setting up sequel hooks. Just tell a good self contained story about Superman, The X-Men, Spider-Man, whoever it may be. Audiences are fed up with having to follow a trail of bread crumbs that may or may not go anywhere.

When the guys were asking “who captain marvel is”, they didn’t have an answer because she did not have a good character development and not enough screen time. I think Captain Marvel movie would have been better if Carol was kidnapped by really evil beings. If she was brainwashed and did awful things like early Loki version level awful things, and then when she gets her memories back she is in pain and regret, and does the best she can to redeem herself and be a hero. I think most of the movie should have been on that planet she was living on for a while. And maybe then at the end send her to earth when she pursues the bad guys and meets Fury and helps him. That would have been a story I would want to see. We all would have known who captain marvel is if something like that happened to her.

All these shill/left leaning youtube 'personalities' that keep telling me how I should speak or critique a movie are really pissing me off. If I don't like something I will say why and then take the piss out of it and the crew involved. If they can take the millions of dollars on the upside of the career the actors and writers/directors have chosen surely the downside of fans not liking certain projects and having a laugh about them is a fair thing ..no? I used to like some of these channels but everytime I try and watch one I get lectured into how I'm not speaking properly and am a hater or a racist or any other ist on the THE LIST. They're narcissistic assholes and I'm thankful for places like this where you aren't judged and can speak your mind! Thanks Drinker and co!!

Imagine 1990s captain marvel(red sash and all), a fellow superhero and a newly powered kid having a cosmic adventure with planets being attacked, basically a Bollywood world writ large (maybe even bring in some of their movie absurdity with the CGI, physical prowess and unapologetically flowing cloth and hair), random mermaid laden waterworks and a villain out for revenge for very specific appoints of previous schemes. I’d have read that in a heartbeat. Meanwhile not even bree in a tank top can entice me to see this one (and I’m very much an appreciator of her role in Scott pilgrim, the song is part of my semi regular background playlist). Hollywood either did something to Bree or something broke once she became an “actress”.

Side note: in the Marvel forgotten productions, there was Big Hero 6 animated movie. In the comics, the female characters were super "curvy", and in the film they were "defiminized". And Jar Jar Abrams also f..ed up Star Trek. Made it as an brainless action scifi movie, losing the "soul" of the franchise.
