Id like to be the first and only one to bring up that Disney was absolutely awful to the actress who voiced the original snow white. She was not originally credited at all when the movie originally released. She was also paid next to nothing without receiving royalties. There was a missed oportunity for them swing this into a big feminist thing while alsoholding the original actress in high regard, instead they choose to roast the audience and the original. Smh

@@dearthofdoohickeys4703 So someone gave a VERY substantial superchat that obviously stood out because it was so much (like 300 bucks). It thus caught Drinker's attention and he addressed it. But then a person named John gave a superchat of even more money, but essentially indicated that he intended self deletion. Drinker initially read the superchat for the same reasons as the first substantial one, but as he was reading, he got to what John meant, and the whole stream changed tone with emphasis to discourage John, give hope, and advocate that he needed to seek immediate help. Drinker later said that the mods had reached out to John, and Drinker was going to communicate with John post-stream. Drinker later said via social media that he'd reached out to YT for assistance and they were getting help. I watched the whole thing live and it was really jarring of a turn. I can't imagine having to host a stream with that chat happening.

1:19:25 I disagree with Mauler here. Disney might lack the skill or the patience to set it up properly, but Thrawn's use of psychological warfare is half of what makes him such an interesting character. He's not merely a commander who finds innovative tools and exploits them to devastating effect, he uses those tools in ways that invite others to assume his capabilities are even greater. If he's not notorious in-universe then he's not doing his job.

so... with Thrawn, why so many people loved him is he was genuinely very intelligent and ruthless... The theme they set up with him was he lost because of the ambition of those who served under him which would lead them to ignore his orders and try to do their own thing which would ultimately cost them the battle. He was the embodiment of that one star trek quote of "you can do everything perfectly and still lose that isn't weakness that is life". That said, as has been pointed out many times, a character is only as intelligent as those who write them which is why he was so heavily ruined in rebels where he started making very unintelligent decisions out of nowhere like he suddenly lost his greatest trait, and in ahsoka he's now going to be completely ruined because the current star wars writing staff are completely retarded. In other words... yet another great character with amazing potential squandered and ruined by shit writing at disney.

I hope this is the final nail in the coffin. Sad to say but I kind of expected the big D to desecrate the traditional cinematic characters. Was hoping the EU would be left alone though after Disney made it seem like they didn’t care about it. Yet here they are barbecuing one of the nost sacred cows more serious fans had left…it’s kind of like hearing that there’s a gang of necrophiles marauding through your town. Are there worse things to worry about? Sure. But how long can we really ignore this stuff and be alright with ourselves?
@kingleech16
@kingleech16 9 ай бұрын
Another very smart writing choice in the Heir to the Empire Trilogy was never showing a scene from Thrawn's perspective. It made him much more mysterious and left you wondering things like whether he really got tactical insight from a species' art, or if that was a misdirect to maintain his air of invincibility. Having Pellaeon as the POV meant you could see what Thrawn was doing and the effect it had on his subordinates, but made Thrawn seem more unpredictable and dangerous.

What no one seems to be talking about with this show is with lightsaber battles you HAVE to be able to use the force. Pre-Disney if you couldn't use the force while battling with lightsabers you can't sense blaster bolts to block them, you can't counter a force users in melee combat(even IF you are well trained), you aren't able to handle the power put behind a strike with a force user and finally you can't sense the intent behind the opponent (force user) if you are battling ESPECIALLY if you can't use the force....this is sad, just sad.

So addressing the Star Wars multi-verse rumor. I went to film school to become a screenwriter. One of the most insightful things a teacher taught me was about trends in Hollywood. How film execs seem to always learn the WRONG lessons from films *like assuming people liked Deadpool cuz it was an R rated superhero film and not cuz it was witty and entertaining* and that films heavily rely on popular trends. So much so these trends often become overused tropes that are just worn out to DEATH. And one of the most common trends today is... multi-verses. It's sci-fi mumbo-jumbo that gives filmmakers the excuse to get together all the popular character from past and future into one cameo member-berry fueled garbage. So yes, I think Disney is dumb enough to try and shoehorn a multi-verse story into Star Wars. It's the hot new thing in modern Hollywood.

JOKER WAS NOT MODELED AFTER TAXI DRIVER!!!!! Sorry i yelled, this is important. Joker was modeled after Bernhard Goetz, who copied the movie Taxi Driver. Goetz shot four black kids on a subway, like Joker. Bickle shot people in a brothel. There was racial tension in NYC when the Goetz thing happened. There was economic tension at the time this movie was made, so they made a god damn amalgam of the two. Instead of shooting black guys, he shot rich guys, leading to violence in the streets. So there's a layer of meta and irony that you're missing. Joker is a fake character, who's copying a real person who copied a fake character. So what the movie is about is fake media creating real violence.

I follow the stock market. Disney's stock price decline has more to do with ESPN than their movies, streaming service, and theme parks. ESPN is a large part of Disney's revenue and losing profitability due to cable cutting, unbundling, and rise in the cost of sports. Also, the 2nd largest cable provider Charter just dropped ESPN due to its high price. ESPN is the most likely asset to be sold or spun off according to many analysts.

Really wish they had someone that knew old starwars ledgends so that they could explain that most of the lore is explained in some way or another usually pretty well. As far as I know tractor beams like the one used on the first Death Star were only on special ships that would accompany fleets and prevent ships from moving drawing them in further the bigger the ship likely the better the tractor beam. And they even had ships the empire specifically that prevented hyperspace in their immediate area to prevent retreat. All of my ledgends knowledge comes from the games. The games did a great job of creating a narrative that made sense. Even separate, they were cohesive in the overall narrative of Star Wars. Battlefront 2 force unleashed republic commando. These games did what Disney is trying to do by expanding the universe and lining their pockets only we were happy to do that before and now I'm just empty about starwars. No episode was awful to the one girl, (who I was subscribed to at the time in 2021) she loved every bland diversity actor/character, good episode or bad episode. Nothing to say regarding what she thought was weird or silly, or could have been fixed. Every episode was perfect to her. She praised the bland boring Trill chick (from ST: Discovery). That’s why I watch y’all and your fellow reviewers. All of you nitpick the stupid stuff, and are positive when they don’t screw any anything. Appreciated. 👍

I can understand them pushing up the speed on arcane, not simply because oh yeah people like this and we obviously want to keep the momentum, but just because of the effect of edgerunners for CD project. That series built a community around a game that had completely floundered its potential and is now effectively being allowed to have their release day happen all over again. That kind of PR is impossibly valuable.

I just saw a picture of a sad Mickey Mouse walking head down away from a crashing down shares graph. This makes me sad and furious. I owe Disney part of my education. When I was 4 and a half years old I bothered my mother for weeks until she agreed to teach me to read: I WANTED and HAD TO read the Disney comics they had given me as gifts. When I was about to start school at 6 years old I had already moved on to Marvel and DC superhero comics and started reading some books. My first years of school were an easy sail. These idiots inherited the goose that lays the golden egg and slowly and painfully strangled it and ate it because "it is immoral to exploit an animal" or something like that. May they burn for eternity in a comic book hell.

I think as far as use of the Force in duels goes, you do have to consider that it takes focus to both use the Force and keep up defense/offense with the lightsaber. So I think what you'd see would be either sneak attacks with the Force, like a quick push to a limb or body, or they'd generate some kind of bubble around themselves that wards off or negates Force attacks while they're fighting. I think it'd be really difficult to manage both since a duel is lightning fast as it is. In the OT, Vader threw objects at Luke with the Force, he didn't really throw a barrage of Force attacks at him and it was usually done when they had some distance between them.

I actually liked Adam Driver in 65. It's kind of a like a classic shipwreck or plane crash movie and a better version of After Earth. And the development of Adam Driver's character as you learn is backstory is well done too. Granted, some of the dinosaurs are poorly cgi, but their interactions with the humans are realistic and meaningful, imo. spoilers: The only thing I didn't like was that he was ready to pull the trigger on suicide after his daughter died during his 2? year trip that he went on so he could afford her treatment. Yes, his daughter is dead, yes he crashed, but it didn't even seem like it was difficult to come up with a plan to get to his home planet and he still had a wife at home.

I just watched 65 the other night. Wss nowhere near as bad as i was expecting, then I found it was only a 40m budget film. If they had a bit better editing, it would've been better. I think he wanted to off himself because he didn't know the girl was alive and the rest of the escape pods and a rescue ship would get there way after he had died.
