Velma didn't GET a season 2, Velma HAD a season 2. They made one season, split it in half, and called one half Season 1, and the other half Season 2. This has been normal practice in animation for a while now, and even gets done with live-action a fair bit now.

Thought I was the only one seeing that Marvel is now routinely giving Rick Sanchez level intellectual feats to 14 year old girls. Shuri was bad enough. You get the sense that one teenage girl was in charge of Wakanda's entire technological infrastructure. Then Riri's making Vibranium detectors that no one else with unfettered access to Vibranium can figure out. Now Ant man's teenage daughter is making quantum devices. Tom King is a terrible writer, and as far as I know, he's ex-CIA or something like that, so he must have seen some weird stuff working for an intelligence agency that he should be able to draw from. Instead, all he knows how to do is turn every male character he writes into a twisted version of himself who needs a mommy-wife to fix everything for him and take care of him.

Cassie bitches about rent being way to high but lives with her super rich family. Do you know what would have been better than them going to a fancy restaurant to celebrate a FAKE birthday? All of them going to a soup kitchen to feed those homeless people and have Hank come with Wagyu steak that he enlargens to feed those less fortunate. That would actually complete 1/2 the Cast’s Character Arcs: Cassie puts her money where her mouth is and actually helps people, Scott is not resting on his laurels from Endgame and actually is out there making lives better again, Hank gets appreciation for saving each Homeless person $100+ on a delicious steak which is WAY better than saving $8 by ordering a small pizza.

"They don't imagine well". I think you really nailed something about modern society. Personally, I believe all that science fiction reading I did early in my life allowed me to become good at my work, to use my imagination to solve problems, to visualize the problem. Something I feel is lacking in my profession as whole. If you don't have a good imagination you have to rely solely on past experience to implement solutions, but with imagination you can basically run simulations in your head to solve a problem you may have never encountered before.

But the addiction to food and subsequent obesity presents an important difference to other addictions in that he never loses his clarity of mind. Most other addictions result in periods of insensibility, and that would alter the story, like in Leaving Las Vegas for instance. But he is always sadly aware of his downfall.

Dragging the core TNG cast back in is not enough to get me to watch Picard after checking out from the 3rd episode of the first season. I wanted a deep character study of distinguished Starfleet captain in his twilight years rediscovering himself in relatively low-stakes mysteries and intrigue from one episode to the next, not overly ambitious universe/multiverse-threatening story arcs spanning the entire season. He's too old, along with the rest of the cast, to be dealing with villains, revenge plots and big spaceship battles. TNG ended with a poker game nearly 30 years ago. The movies were garbage.

Thank you, Terry! This is, really, a great attempt to right the ship! I am one that watched all the Kurtzman trek since I was starved for anything, but all of you are right about Modern Star Trek. This includes Picard Season 3. Anyonw who loves legacy Trek will not be completely fulfilled, but they will be happy to see what Terry is doing now. Especially at the end of Eposide 2, when Picard becomes PICARD!

The best way to send a message to Paramount is to wait until Picard S3 is available to purchase somewhere else and then buy it. Pay for the good stuff, and don't subscribe to services that primarily produce crap.

Clownfish TV covered this. They said it was probably one series order split into two seasons. So it probably wasn't a renewal and just the rest of the already ordered episodes coming out.

Velma didn't GET a season 2, Velma HAD a season 2. They made one season, split it in half, and called one half Season 1, and the other half Season 2. This has been normal practice in animation for a while now, and even gets done with live-action a fair bit now.

@@thelastmotel Same thing they did with Harley Quinn (at least for it's first 2 seasons back in the days of the "DC Universe" app), but at least that show is actually comedy. I'm pretty sure it's a forgone conclusion that Velma will certainly not get a 3rd season. That much we can be relieved about (I hope).

To Robert, the first time I ever watched Star Trek The Next Generation, was during Rosh Hashonah(1987), the Jewish New Year. Also, it was recorded on my JVC VCR on a 2-hour VHS cassette tape. Too bad I didn't correctly adjust the recording timer. R.I.P. Gene Rodenberry.

lets be real. Only reason Velma is getting a second season is because HBO doesn't want the writers/creators of the show to bash and call them out for "letting trolls win". It's the same with She-Hulk. I guarantee you, though, Velma is getting cancelled after season 2 inevitably fails. I'm guessing She-Hulk will be cancelled as well, but we'll see.

I'm so happy that Star Trek has a good modern season! I truly hope they learn at least some lessons from it and improve the rest of the shows.

With Picard 3 being good, we need to make a lot of noise, to make it known to the studios that these beloved franchises are not beyond redemption if they just get a writer who actually respects, loves and understands the thing to which they are working on.

Star Trek should be named Star Trick. So many times we were tricked into hoping against hope that we would get an objectively good show. So many times disappointed.

the problem with supersonic is air creates friction, friction creates heat, so you need special materials to make the planes, and breaking the speed of sound creates loud noises, so they can't fly over land... also it uses a lot more fuel... darn physics getting in the way of cool ideas...
