For people who never saw Rebels or read EU, they would think that the story has poorly explained why Thrawn is the big bad boogeyman. We heard many times that he must be stopped, but not why. Conversely, Ezra is the de facto objective as the show repeatedly implies that he and Sabine had some sort of strong emotional relationship. However, even if you saw clips of the Rebels finale, you would know that Ezra made a sacrifice move out of duty that served the greater good. In this show, our heroes chose to serve their hearts, and it ended up with Sabine unwilling to make the same sacrifice move, and we're supposed to root for her?

It is actually more efficient to channel the force into physical enhancements and go into melee. You need to be far above your opponent to just use force powers to ragdoll them. Most of the games (Jedi Knight) displayed this very issue. You could try to use force powers on the enemy force users.. but they'll just counter it and punish you.

Ray Stevenson's performance in RRR is worth revisiting. It's such a villainous role that he could have gone full ham, but he plays it much more seriously than the pantomime level that Alan Rickman went with in Robin Hood. Both great choices, for the specific way that they fit into each film. Like all the UK/Oirish cast, he's directed to enunciate in a very specific, clear style to make their English easily comprehensible to an Indian audience, but he still nails the performance through that filter. He actually gets a tiny amount of screen time, but uses that to demonstrate that there are no small roles. He's pitch perfect in it, as is Alison Doody.

You arrive at the scene, a good friend is at the edge of a cliff barely holding back a lightsaber. You are armed and have a clear shot at their back, even if they somehow notice and block your the direction of your friends lightsaber would instantly kill him if he got out of the bind. Or you announce your presence and fail even basic intimidation, let him kick your buddy off and then after not pressing your threat just surrender to the guy who killed your friend. Stellar writing there.

What I can say about Baylan is that he's a really cool character, like he has that classic imposing space opera villain vibe. But generally speaking everyone in the show is pretty mediocre and not well written, it's just that Stevenson really knew how to act. His defining characteristic is “stoicism”. Drinker, The force can only be used on people with less "force" than you have. For instance, Yoda couldn't lift Sidious They are about evenly matched in the force. But yoda could throw a non-force user around the world. (I'm being hyperbolic) Shin didn't try to force Throw/Choke Sabine because she thought she had the force, but once she knows she didn't she choked her the next time they met. It's basically like your strength, You can't lift more than something weighs. And Shin was looking at a suitcase she thought was full, but it turns out it was empty.
@danyknight9107 Жыл бұрын
Fair point, but in Episode 3 we got to see Anaking and Obi Wan make a force push hand to hand and both were thrown in opposite directions. We now(because of Episode 1) that Anaking has a midclorian count(I really hate that thing invented by George) way ahead of Kenobi, even more ahead of Yoda, that was discovered back when Anakin was a child, by Episode 3 he his a grown man with years of training, that argument of "both are match" will not apply there, Anakin should be able to desintegrate Kenobi out of existance, at least destroy all his arm. Now I understand your argument and even like it it really has logic similar to people with same muscular strenght, but the thing is that even then Shin should be able to at least use force to things like: take away Sabine saber, move rocks and pieces of trees into her, even raising a pile of dry leaves and dust from the ground to create a smoke curtain as a tactic, you can make a lot of interesting situations wher Shin could use the force and just kill Sabine.

@mrblank-zh1xy Жыл бұрын
Not that simple, but kind of. There are force attacks and force defenses. Force powers are typically slower than physical attacks because of the concentration required. Most force powers can be "suppressed" or blocked by the target if they too are a force wielder and they know the technique. But strong attackers can have attacks so strong they can overwhelm the defense.

Regarding Hera: The people who write this stuff clearly don't know what leadership is. They've never read a biography of a great general. The protagonists they write are romance movie protagonists. The main characters in the new Star Wars shit are to be respected because they have a title. For contrast, think of General Pikalov in the Chernobyl series. He doesn't command your respect because he's a general and is "cleared to see everything." The series is full of useless people who are in charge. He commands respect because when he needs to lead, he steps to the front. He makes you think about the humiliation you'd feel for failing him. He makes you think about the righteous rage you, as sergeant in charge of the detail to cover his truck with lead, would feel as you ripped Private Fuckup in half for not doing his job. You don't get that from General Hera (or Admiral Pinkhair-Dern) because they don't feel like leaders. They are assigned to the position of leader. That is enough for a romance movie protagonist but not enough for an action movie protagonist.

I thought the map download was yet another example of Disney Star Wars failing to capitalize on a decent idea. If they had begun the download the first time Space Stonehenge was activated then their would be a ticking clock across multiple episodes, helping to build tension. Please remember countdown clocks only go as fast as the narrative requires them to as evidence in episode one when Ahsoka ran a mile away before the assassin droids finally exploded. And by making the download a multi episode thing it confers to the audience that this isn't just a regular hyperspace jump, that this is something far more complex. The download would have also served for a great reason why Ahsoka couldn't just bug out once she'd visually confirmed Morgan was building a big hyperspace ring. Plus it would have forced the characters to hustle at the start of episode 4.

Alrighty bois, so the thing with Force powers vs Force powers (at least before Disney took control…) is that if you are using purely Force on someone you have to overcome their “Force Wall” which is the natural resistance against the Force that every person has, and Force users have a much higher wall (think if it as AC in D&D, lower for that 0-level peasant, much higher for the Jedi Knight (paladin, lol)). This is THE REASON why lightsaber combat was actually done between Force users, because you’d have to concentrate to overcome someone’s Force Wall, all while they are doing the same to you, etc etc. not even including if it’s an actual battle and not a duel. However, Force powers that manifest or use something physical are different. Vader throwing stuff at Luke in Ep5 was easy for Vader but also harder for Luke to defend against; Palpatine’s Force Lightning caused Yoda to stop so he could nullify it (Windu’s just badass); Maul made sure he was far away from Qui-Gonn and Obi-Wan, relative to melee combat, before he pointed at the piece of metal to hit the panel in order for the doors to open, otherwise he would have been open to at attack. No Force user attacks another directly with the Force because of the effort it expense and concentration required. TLDR: Ahsoka should have never been able to just throw Shin unless she was magnitudes more powerful than her, because she has to overcome her instinctual Force resistance.

Seeing as how there's a spiritual connection between a Force-user and the Kyber crystal within their lightsaber, I'd imagine that this Force protection would extend to the lightsaber as well.

all those starfighters, with blasters, and torpedos, and WEAPONS ... "we'll block them in" *facedesk*

why are the lightsaber battles so slow paced....its like we regressed. The strikes are slow, the movements are slow. Its boring. Slow strike and a block,...then stare at each other or talk. Slow movement, with slow strike number 2 blocked with more staring...repeat.
