Great to see Harii again. The tacos looked delicious, you could tell the man running the taco stand took great pride in his food and presentation. The veggie one sounded unusual and apparently it was but not in the best way, but you gave it a go 👍🏻

The taco truck owner seemed a good business owner, very polite. Texas has roadside stands like that for tacos and bbq foods. There are 2 big, open areas where it's all just several bbq and taco food trucks. They advertise what time they'll be there. Sometimes even in the middle of nowhere there'll be someone just out there barbecuing. People smell the smoker going and turn up.

That sounds awesome! I usually try to track down new places online. Hope to find some more good ones👍

In the US, we have a lot of “rest areas” (there are usually “Rest Area Ahead” signs a few to several miles before you reach them), but most are usually bathrooms and some vending machines and a grassy area to walk your dog. Bigger places with a few restaurants/shops are sometimes called a “travel plaza,” but are often synonymous with “truck stop” since they often cater to big rig truckers.

Yes, this is kinda like that, though not on a highway. Often there are markets with local produce and goods for travelers. This one in particular is famous for its fresh water that you can freely take👍

Everything looks tasty. If you visit San Francisco or Los Angeles, there are so many great restaurants & food trucks serving either traditional or west coast style Mexican food. Yeah, summer veggies tacos are refreshing. If I serve Goya / bitter melon, to counter much of the bitterness -- we'll remove the core and seeds/ slice/ soak in salted water a short while/ rinse lightly & drain prior to cooking. To counter more bitterness, can also take prepared Goya -- stir fry, then add scrambled eggs into the pan to make an omelet. Great review of the truck stop/ rest area & Tolaloc food truck. Mahalo for bringing us along.😎👍

Oh yeah, I'm sure I'd gain weight if I ever visited those places. As for goya, I think the best way to avoid bitterness is to avoid the goya altogether ;)

Always cool to see Mexican taco trucks in Japan. You answered my question about them having taco rice. Curious on how it looked and taste. Till next Taco adventure

I'm sure it had goya since they are both Okinawan :(

Nice combo of taco flavours. I've never tasted goya though I've been tempted. Haven't made Tex-Mex food in a while though I make very good flour tortillas. :)

I understand what they were going for with that goya one, but it is not for me...

that's so funny, bitter melon. I went to Hawaii and we ate at a fancy Chinese restaurant. There was 4 of us at the table and we each ordered one entree. So I had never heard of bitter melon and then I saw the menu and I ordered it. I thought it tasted really good the way they prepared it and the others tried it.

The quesadilla looked like it needed more cheese. Otherwise, that and the tacos themselves looked really good. Kudos to the truck making what looked like fresh-pressed tortillas.
@CriticalEatsJapan5 ай бұрын
Yeah, the tortillas were handmade. And that quesadilla could have been a little cheesier, but glad to see something I have not tried at a place like this before👍

Next season of burger brothers could be Tres Amigos tacos. It seems like Mexican food is getting super popular in Japan. I'm sure you could find enough tacos trucks to film a season.
