Really beautiful work. Is there a reason you don't bury your ends as you go? I was taught that at a very young age and am old! I knot when I get to the final color change on halves then bury it by working over the knot and last color. It saves time and burying as you go really does make even the back look nicer. I also love keeping the old granny square even in the last row. When I crochet on the back to join the squares I bring the yarn along that the next square's color is going to be. What that does is gives another dimension and pattern into the corners on the front side. I made my mom a king-sized hearts with halves, wholes, which made the heart, then having a design at the corners is an added pretty. I used variegated yarn and solid yarn in the squares that make the heart and used white in between each heart. It is amazing how learning from you and other crocheters helps me, I hope giving some advice is not rude but meant it to help those that maybe don't now they can bury their yarn as they go and just little differences that can make a normal Granny Square into a beautiful square...you nailed it! I love the Martha Washington Star Quilt and made that into a queen-size crochet quilt for my best friend and it came out nice as well. The love of crochet is something I think every person could learn (I taught my brother to crochet the basics) he did it for awhile, but doesn't do it anymore; he has time to fish his pond, mow his 5 acres, but loves to hang out with his grandchildren...so he is a bit busy! Ha, ha!

Thanks so much! I’d recommend just trying to work on it 15 minutes a day. Put it somewhere that you can easily pick it up and work on. Put the timer on and stop as soon as 15 minutes are up. This is how I get things finished . It takes the pressure off and you’ll be surprised at how much you get done ❤️🧶

Watched the video March 28 2024 Hi! Loved this video. I make my two color blocks very similar. My problem is that when I see then together (mattress stitch) the corners are bugging me! I can’t seem to see them so that they match where one color doesn’t bleed into the next color. The corners with the two colors. Do you have a video that shows how to do this? I would really appreciate it!

I see far you’re saying but I don’t have a video where I show these squares specifically joined together. When you do the mattress stitch , do you work into the middle of the stitches instead of going into the back of the stitch? I have the best success with that for creating a seamless join. Question: if you don't do any chains at the final join, how do you stitch them together?

It depends on the joining technique used. I personally would just do the invisible seam join but if I were do to a sc join , then I would just add an increase on the sides of that join to get the stitch count back on track . For me, losing those 2 chains is not going to ruin the shape of the overall piece .
