I kept coming up with 65 stitches, I FINALLY, remembered that the joining and tying off required hiding the chain three on the row 3 of the sole. Wonderful video. A little fast for beginners, but they can take it slow and re-play as needed. Great pattern. A must for a great gift for others or to pamper yourself. Love Renee Bjork's tip below. Make both slippers/boots at the same time to match as-you-go. Another quick tip ... purchase yarn for complete set at the same time ... match die lots (check on wrapper for the stamped lot numbers of the same number and always buy at least one extra skein more than the pattern calls for ... you may need to make it larger and/or your stitches may not be the exact same size as what you see on the pattern/video.) Each person has their own style, tension and/or use of yarn ... this can make a big difference in the long run as to how much yarn you need. Full skeins, not opened or used, can usually be returned to the store for refund (with receipt)... or ... keep for future use on a small project. :)

I come back to this pattern over and over. I have made 10 sets as gifts for family and friends. My oldest daughter loved hers so much she wanted to wear them at the hospital when her baby was born. @byzantine_dixie4 жыл бұрын
I am a newbie crocheter - this is my 4th project and I just finished my first bootie. I need to complement you on the brilliant design. The stitches which make up the sole are so well constructed. I have large, fat feet (EU 42, Birkenstock Normal width) and I knew this pattern wouldn't work as is. You mentioned finding other sole sizes on KZbin and I tried but most of them looked like kindergarten level compared to this university level design. So I thought...why not go up two sizes in the hook and see if that would work for me. HA! The end result would have worked for Sasquatch! And I tried to make the sole by only using the written pattern. Another fail. So this time I only went up one size hook and followed your video step by step. The end result was a perfectly sized, beautiful bootie. that has enough "give" in it to accommodate my wide, fat feet and still keep them toasty warm...I LOVE IT. Thanks so much for sharing your brilliant ideas. Someone or two on my list may be getting a pair of these for Christmas this year!

Hi Byzantine Dixie, can you please tell me what size hook you used and what type of yarn you used? I am about to try this project out as a gift for someone who is a size EU42 as well. Would love to hear from you, thanks
@byzantine_dixie4 жыл бұрын
@@joanneathanatos395 I used a 7mm hook but I can't tell you to this day after many more projects if I crochet tight or loose. I always have to either make a swatch, or start and adjust. If you get a sole length of 10.6 - 10.8 inches or so (mine measures almost 11 now after wearing for a while and using support inserts) you know you will be in the right ball park. There is some "give" in the slippers so precision is not so critical. These would make an awesome gift. Such a great design.

*Written Pattern Below (click read more).* Sirin! You are so kind to share this wonderful pattern with all of us. THANK YOU!!! I have just finished making these and I love them! I noticed that many people in the comments were asking for a written pattern and I did not see one yet on your website. I am hoping that you will not mind that I have written up the pattern (as best as I could) in hope of helping those who wanted to make them, but were struggling to follow along. Your video was not hard for me to follow. Perhaps it is because I have been crocheting forever (and I am old)! I hope this helps some one make your beautiful slippers! *Sole:* [I called these rows , but they are actually more like flat rounds, as you are working around the back of your first chain. Watch at 3:42 if you aren't sure how to work along the bottom of the chain. ] Rw 1. Make a slip knot, Ch 19. In 4th chain from the hook DC 3 in same chain.The three skipped ch count as a DC. Make 14 DC. There will be one chain remaining. In last chain, make 7 DC. Turn slightly to work along bottom of previously worked stitches, make 14 DC. Working in the base of the first actual stitch of the previous row, make 3 DC in the same ch.SS to 3rd chain of beginning chain. Rw. 2. Ch 3 (counts as first DC). Make another DC in same stitch. 2 DC in each of the next 3 stitches. 6 HDC. 9 SC. 2 HDC in each of the next 3 stitches. 6 HDC. 9 sc. 6 HDC. Make 2 DC in each of the next 2 stitches. SS to 3rd chain of beginning chain. Rw 3. DC in same stitch as beginning chain (inc). DC in next stitch. 2 DC in next stitch (inc). 1 DC in next. 2 DC in next stitch (inc). 1 SC in next. 2 DC in next stitch (inc). 7 HDC. 10 SC. 2 DC in next stitch (inc). 1 DC. 2 DC in next stitch (inc). 1 DC. 2 DC in next stitch (inc). 1 DC. 2 DC in next stitch (inc). 10 SC. 7 HDC. 2 DC in next stitch (inc). 1 DC. 2 DC in next stitch (inc). 1 DC. 2 DC in next stitch (inc). 1 DC. *STOP.* Do *not* join with SS. Watch at 14:32 . Cut yarn and and pull through last stitch completed. Thread yarn on a yarn or tapestry needle and insert in top of SECOND DC form beginning of the row. NOT the top of the turning chain or the top of the first DC. Then insert needle into the top "v" of the last DC worked in row and gently pull through. . *This is important because you need to reduce the number of stitches around to an even number (or a multiple of two. ) In this case 64 stitches around.* Weave in end of yarn to hide it. The toe end of the sole will be the slightly wider end. *Upper part of slipper.* First --find the middle stitch at what will be *the heel* of the slipper.. You can guess and fold the sole in half lengthwise , or count from where you fastened off the last stitch on the sole (I used stitch number 32 as my center). Sirin shows it very well on the video. Watch from 18:16 if you are confused. *Begin with right side of sole up.* * * * *NOTE: From here on, the beginning ch 2 at the start of every row is NOT counted as a stitch.* Rw 1. EACH STITCH *IN THIS ROW* IS CROCHETED IN BACK LOOP ONLY (DC in BL). Secure yarn to the center stitch at the heel part of the sole, IN BACK LOOP ONLY. (Insert hook in top of stitch. Pull yarn through and make a SS. Then Ch 2. In same stitch as beg ch, Make 1 DC in BL. DC in BL in each stitch around sole. SS in the *top of the first actual DC* - *NOT* the 3rd ch of beginning ch as we are ignoring it. (64 DC in BL) Rw 2. This is the beginning of working the Front Post DC (FPDC) and Back Post DC (BPDC) ribbed stitches. Ch 2. * FPDC around post of first DC in the previous row, BPDC around the next.* Repeat between * and * until end of round. SS to first FPDC to join. (64 stitches still) Rw 3. This is the row where you start making decreases. I marked the center stitch at the toe end of the sole before I started this round so I would remember when to decrease. Begin the row making FPDC around the FPDC's , and BPDC's around the BPDC's to continue the ribbing. When you get to the stitch BEFORE the center stitch at the toe, you will begin the decrease stitch. You will be working a FPDC 3 Together (FPDC 3 TOG). Watch at 23:17 for instructions on how to make this stitch. After completing the FPDC 3 TOG, BPDC around next BPDC and then continue your alternating FPDC/BPDC as you've been doing until you reach the heel. SS to first FPDC to join. Here's a written description for (FPDC 3 TOG), if it helps. Yarn over. Insert hook under post of first FPDC. Grab yarn and pull through. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops. _You will have 2 loops left on hook._ *Skip BPDC.* Insert hook under the next FPDC (the middle one), Grab yarn and pull through. Yarn over and pull through TWO loops on hook. _You will now have 3 loops left on hook._ *Skip BPDC.* Yarn over and Insert hook under the next FPDC , grab yarn and pull through. Yarn over and pull through two loops. _You will now have 4 loops on hoop._ Yarn over and *pull yarn through all 4 loops on hook.* Done! TIP for new crocheters: Yes, this stitch seems a little awkward at first. You can do it! If you are still confused after watching, try slowing down the playback speed on the video (click the little gear under the video) and watch a few times until you get it! You will! Rws 4. through 9. Repeat row 3. When you get to the toe each time and have to decrease , just remember to treat FPDC 3 TOG in the previous row as a single stitch and that it will be the Middle stitch of your decrease for the row. So begin your FPDC 3 TOG for that row in FPDC BEFORE the three that are bunched together. Watch from 25:33 to see Sirin do this. Rw. 10. Continuing the FPDC and BPDC ribbing, crochet around the top (ankle part) without decreasing . So, when you get to the FPDC 3 TOG from the previous row, don't decrease. just treat it like a FPDC and FPDC around it as a post. Watch at 28:52 to see what I mean. Rw. 11. Repeat row 10. Just continue to do the same FPDC and BPDC ribbing pattern you've been using all around the top. Rw. 12 Finishing touch (optional). Using Crab stitch ( it's like single crocheting backwards, if you get what I mean) crochet along top of ankle. Best to watch Sirin demonstrate this! Watch at 29:32 Important step!!!! Don't forget to Like the video and subscribe!👍💝 Thanks again to Sirin for this beautiful pattern and tutorial!

In that I'm so old and have been crocheting since my early 20s, I have a MOUNTAIN of unused yarn. This is going to be a cold year (even in S. Florida) and my tootsies are becoming important for being warm, so I thought I'd better get moving for more things like this. We native Floridians are such "whiners" ... happy that I'm here, not there. Things could be worse. Pattern worked out beautifully and I'm anxious to attack the next ball of yarn.

Vielen Dank LG

Thank you Siri I'm a fan of the way you teach, so easy to follow. I started crocheting when covid19 hit us and have made some nice stuff from your channel. Yesterday I started these slippers and have finished 1 so by tomorrow they'll both be done. 🙏🏽Thank you so much ❤️

I really like these boots and plan to get the yarn and give a try following along with your video. You have such a soothing, gentle voice and manner of teaching. Thank you for this video and for sharing your lovely boots. If you have the time sometime, I would very much appreciate a written pattern to follow as well.

Be better for the winter to keep your feet warm
@bethtisdalestaton72504 жыл бұрын
@@heavenleigh5653 Yes that would be an excellent idea especially for those people like my niece who lives in Colorado & very cold area's where they have weather in the lower teens & sometimes below 0 degrees. I would definitely have to buy my shoes a little larger just for soles to fit because the older I get the colder my feet are & that's just living in the winter in Florida, lol 😂! I don't know how people handle that kind of cold weather ❄⛄ Brrrr.

Hello Serin, I'm very excited to make these boots for my husband as a gift. I live in UK and know yarn varies in weights. Trial and error will get me there I'm sure. Thank for this formula. If they don't fit him I can pass them to someone else. 😊 Bless you for sharing.

I love these! I will make a few pairs. They look beautiful and very sturdy also functionally fantastic! I only hope they come out as perfect as yours did. Thanks so much for showing +& explaining how you made them. The sole looks confortable & very strong. I guess if you wanted to you could put leather on the bottom of the boot slipper. I can’t believe how great they came out! You definitely out did yourself!thanks so much for sharing with everyone!
