There are so many different granny squares. I use to know it by heart. Thank you. This is the square I taught myself when I was in high school. I am 71 years young 😊 and you saved my anxiety. This is what calms me down. I crocheted my mother who is 92 in her own apartment an afghan. It was a king size afghan. She still has it and it looks like new. I used this exact pattern. 😅😅😅 Thank you so much. I have subscribed to you. I'm so exhilarated. ❤❤❤❤

Im 50 and randomly got interested in crochet and knitting. I struggled for years and have all the yarn just waiting to become something. I sorta gave up and just bought a knitting machine. The knitting machine is great but the desire to learn how to crochet never left. After years of trying I thought maybe if I can just learn a granny square. I watched this video over and over, I lost count. After starting and pulling everything apart time after time I finally got it! I’m so proud I wish I could attach a photo to this comment. I looked for the FB page but it wasn’t there then I noticed this video is from 2017. Anyway this is the start of something great for me 😊 and you’re a great teacher! Thank you!!

Raise the flag and phone the neighbors! A beginners tutorial that actually behaved as if it were for...well, beginners. I found this video to be truly instructive (thanks for slowing things down!) and helpful on so many levels, but especially with regard to the geography of the square, and the way that geography changes as you add more rounds. Seems a simple enough concept, but nowhere in the dozen or so other videos I've watched was the pattern broken down to "dc 3, chain 2, dc 3". Six dcs is not the same as 3dc, chain 2, dc 3. NOW, after your vid, I can recognize the patterns of the stitches, and where the real holes are. After about 13 attempts this week, i was finally able to successfully crochet a granny square. Thank you!

I am glad you told the beginners to turn their work on the Granny Square pattern because it will keep the pattern/square in a nice square shape. If a person does not turn their work the square gets a slant or sort of a spiral wonky shape. You have made a helpful tutorial 🧶

I have never heard of turning your work when making a granny square, but that would make both sides the same instead of a front & back.

Helen ~ I hope your skills have improved with practice. If they have not you may want to check with your local JOANN store as they offer lessons in person.Your local yarn store most likely has people who can offer help or lessons. A little one on one teaching lessons could make all the difference. I know that is what made the difference for me. I started crocheting through a friend’s couple of in person lessons. This is THE BEST and most easy to follow granny square video I’ve seen so far. It’s the first time I’ve ever made one! And I’ll be coming back for reference. Thank you!!

Excellent! Your yarn is perfect for seeing the stitches, especially when connecting to a chain stitch. Your video is very clear, so close up work is so easy to see! Thanks!

I AGREE! This is the first video that actually explained and slow enough for me to get it. Even the part of turning my work, still do not know why we turn lol. But, I even wrote your instructions down and saved the video. TY TY TY ❤

Thank you for your tutorial. I totally forgot about this stitch. This was how I was taught up crotchet over 40 years ago. I used to make blankets and scarves with this stitch years ago. This was a great walk down memory lane. Thank you

Thank you so much! Looked everywhere for a slow, detailed video of a granny square. I could straight crochet fine, but granny squares just drove me crazy. Now, it makes complete sense. Beautifully done!

Finally! This was more challenging than I counted on when I took a class months ago to learn the basics Granny square. I've tried other tutorials but this one finally helped me figure it out. Can't believe how proud I feel now!😊

You are my favorite crochet person. I've watched a lot of your crochet videos and there awesome! I've learned a lot from you and was able to make my granddaughters each a blanket, I couldn't have done it without your help, thank you so much!! I can so relate to your recent videos not so much about crochet and I just want to say, I can truly relate!
