I know this is dumb to do when I haven't seen much of the video but I want to thank you already. I haven't crocheted in ages and wanted to pick up on granny squares since I knew they could be attached together for bigger projects. I figured I would try to make a blanket for my nephew but thanks to the sizes of the squares and the blanket size I'm aiming for, I wanted to add boarders too. So thank you.

I've always liked making granny squares but hated joining them. So after searching for "joining granny squares" and trying a couple of different ways I came across your tutorial and gave it a try. Will be the only way I use from now on. So much simpler. Thanks so much.

I've been crocheting for 6 months and looking into learning how to do the solid granny square, then joining to make a blanket so this is perfect! Looks like more individual work, but the amount of time and effort into it makes it even more satisfying when done. Thinking about making some daisy squares to add to it as well since it is one of my favorite flowers. Thank you for such a helpful video - have a great day!

Hi I am so happy I came across this tutorial, I have made to lots of different squares for blankets for a baby boy and girl, watched loads of tutorials on how to join but not one explained how to do the corners, I should have known to come back to you as I have recently made a Granny stripe blanket from your tutorial and am very pleased with myself that it turned out so well. I live in Cheshire UK and am crocheting for charity as it keeps me busy during the day and off course I love crocheting anyway. Thank you so much for explaining so clearly,

I've just started crocheting, I find your tutorials very helpful-clear and easy to understand, I especially like that it is English/U.K as most that I've view are American which can be confusing. Mine don't look so uniform as yours do, but I'm only on my 3rd ever square (1st solid square) so hopefully after learning the sequences and more practice I'll have myself a blanket, so thanks :-)

Hi Bella. Thanks to your videos I am almost ready to make my first crochet project in 40 years! Thank you so much for your help. I will be using this video to attach my squares into a lap-robe afghan. MY QUESTION IS: should the squares be wet and blocked before I join them? I will be giving the lap robe as a gift, so I want to be my best work. By the way, I subscribe to your FaceBook page also. I'll look for your reply here on this channel. Thanks in advance. I'm in the US and I appreciate you describing both crochet terms.

Hi Sarah-Jayne! Is there a way to join squares without making a ridge? I love all your videos. After watching many many videos on how to crochet granny squares, yours is the first to help me to actually get it!! Thanks!
@Ccolagirl
@Ccolagirl 5 жыл бұрын
I can't believe no one has answered your question! Melissa, instead of putting the squares back to back to join, you would put them right sides together. This would give you a flat join instead of a ridge. Also, I like to join all my squares continuing all the way across horizontally and then vertically. That way I don't have have a bunch of tails, and I don't have to keep stopping and starting.

I love your tutorials so I came here looking for help on how to join 2 granny squares that are very large. I have made 2 granny squares that were made using the diamond granny square technique consisting of 3 boxes each. My intention is to change the 2 large squares into a rectangle and then add a border around the two once they are joined so that it will fit my grandaughter ‘s twin bed. Would I use the same technique as for these tiny granny squares? I’m not sure since I only have 2 very large granny squares to join, not a bunch of tiny ones. I’m not sure that I want a raised line going across the middle of the blanket so maybe you can suggest a different way to do this? Your help is much appreciated. Trish

I am almost done with a solid square granny blanket. I ended up making 56 squares. Each square was 4 rounds ending with 19 double crochet on each side. I came across this video and put a border on mine as well. So, I'm guessing, with the border, they were about 7 inches each. I had 8 squares horizontally and 7 vertically.

Thank you 😊 If your border is rippling/waving that usually means you have too many stitches. There's a bit of trial and error involved but I do have a tutorial offering some guidance here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2GXqHqwd9l_rbs If the border you've worked is around a solid granny square I would double check that you haven't worked too many stitches.

Have you a video how to do a seamless crochet join? I’m making a cowl scarf. Thanks.

Would it be the same technique if you was to join a solid granny square to a normal granny square

Yes, as long as they are the same size - you may also find it helpful to work a border around the normal granny square first 😊

Love the tutorials but I was wondering if there is another way to join the squares as I'm not a fan of this way for a bigger blanket.

Perhaps the join as you go method? X

Can you use the same method to join hexagons? I'm making a blanket with hexagons and I would really like to join them with a border. Thanks! :)

I've figured out how to add a border and I know how to join them by sewing them together. Now I am just wondering if there is a way to join them using a double crochet, row-by-row, the same ay you did with these granny squares? :)

Is there a limit on how many rounds for a solid granny square. Have done up to 23 stitches. Then with the joining boarder it appears to buckle in each section

There’s no limit on how many rounds you can do for a solid granny square; you can simply continue until you reach the desired size. If you’re having trouble with the border rippling I would try going down a hook size just for this part 😊
