I watched another tutorial and barely understood what was happening. This is the 2nd granny square tutorial of yours I’ve watch and oh my goodness you are the best tutorial maker like ever. I absolutely love the way you explain each and every step and slow down enough for people to follow along and encourage people to pause to catch up. I was following along and writing down as you were explaining it. Then when it was finished, I watched it again and looked at my notes to be sure I had it written down right (which I did). This will be my first attempt at making a granny square. My maternal grandmother showed me how to crochet over 35+ years ago. Just this year alone I have crocheted scarves, baby blankets and booties. Now, if I can get this down right, granny squares. I think my grandmother is smiling down from heaven knowing that her youngest granddaughter is doing what she had been doing for so many years.

I'm finding your videos wonderfully inspiring thanks. I simply cannot understand how so many people "dislike or downvote" craft videos. People like you give this advice freely and for the love of sharing beautiful handmade crafted items. Years ago, we paid big $$$ for magazines - or lessons - to learn these techniques - and now we can get it for free on YT - yet people will dislike them? Why? I guess you can't please everyone.

This tutorial is amazing and very easy to follow. My mother taught my siblings and me how to crochet when we were kids(along with cooking, sowing, etc, while my stepdad taught us how to fish, start a fire, etc). I recently took up crocheting because I quit smoking and needed something to do with my hands. After relearning all my basic stitches and making an endless supply of swatches, I found this tutorial. I completed my first square today and will make a few more practice ones and then I think I'll be ready for a blanket. Thanks again for making this tutorial for us novices. With great tutorials like this, I'm well on my way to being an adept of the craft.

Despite the difference between the UK and US lingo, I have found your tutorials very informative, even for projects for which I just need a refresher. I've been crocheting since I was a little girl - my grandmother taught me how to do several crafts before I could even write (I taught myself to knit, though, as an adult). But that means I've forgotten many things in over 40 years. Thank you for not only helping me remember those things but also teaching me a few more nice things like this granny square, which I like more than the traditional. I especially like the way you transition to each new round - I've never seen it done that way before but it makes so much more sense! And wastes no yarn or stitches as I was taught or I've seen in other tutorials.

5yrs after making this video and it's still going strong - they're timeless! Thanks a bunch for making this! I'm an experienced knitter and just recently started designing. But I was thinking, I dont have all of the tools avail to be a great designer unless I learn to crochet. I know how to chain stitches and to fiddle around a bit but I dont know the terms of whatever it is I'm doing so cant read a pattern and such. And I had an idea for a friend's baby blanket so here I am. And what a perfect video for me! Not too slow but not too fast. And I LOVE the fact that you gave places to pause which takes the thinking of when to do that out of the equation, so we simply focus on the stitch. I've got a lot to learn still... I'll say, you crocheters are champs bc boy does my wrist and hand hurt. Lol! I think I'm holding everything too tight, so as I said, I have a lot yet to learn. Thanks again! I look forward to learning more from your timeless videos. 🙂

I first learned crocheting when I was like 9 years old. But I was very bad at this back then. But a few weeks ago I decided to start it again and now, with the help of your videos, my crocheting skills become better and better. 😊

After 50 years of crocheting I have decided it’s time to get with the program and make this newer version of the granny square for a baby blanket. Thank you for this tutorial.

I started a month ago and gave up for a couple of weeks and started again because I had nothing to do and I don’t want to waste the 50+ yarns I bought on impulse 🤣 your video was the second I watched after a tutorial and I’m so glad I came back after feeling a bit confident again :)! Thank you so much for the video 🫶

I was curious to know what size hook you used in this particular tutorial. Mandy

I think I see a 4 on that needle so assume a 4.00 mm ?
@hibernogirl4 жыл бұрын
or it could have been a 4.5 mm! take note of the yarn you are using and on the label they suggest knitting needle size or crochet hook.

If I could hug you in person, I would. Thank you for clearly explaining the increases, clearly showing us the stitches, not having music playing over the background or verbiage popping up on the screen, over your hands! Also, if anyone can answer this, I would appreciate it - I have been trying to do a farmhouse granny square all day. Literally. Does the puff stitch count as the two double crochets in that row for the corner, or not? I think that’s where my counting has been off but all of the farmhouse tutorials I’ve watched are not very good tbh-too vague. TIA! 😊

Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I’m so happy to hear that my video has helped you. Did you know that I have a tutorial for a farmhouse granny square? You can find it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZm1XmptmK-IkLc There are quite a lot of variations for this pattern but in the ones I have seen, the puff stitches in the corners take the place of the double crochet stitches (treble crochets if you’re using UK terms) 😊
