Yes this looks beautiful and I want to make it but I am getting so mixed up when you are double crocheting on first row. Am I double and triple crocheting into the same stitch???

KZbin will let you slow down the speed to 1/2 or 1/4 speed. You could try that.

Did you skip the first stitch for the beginning of the 3rd row as well ?

I made this baby blanket as a gift for our newborn great grandson. I just got a request to make another exactly like it as a back up blanket. It’s his favorite and will not go to sleep without it. He likes to hang on to it in the holes where the yarn is thick.

What is your reasoning for when you skip the first stitch and when you don't. I've been trying to follow along on both the video tutorial and the written pattern and it's very confusing.

I used 4 (72 Yards each) skeins and my blanket was 27'' x 27'' I don't know how many cm that is.
