Crochet this Radiating Blanket design using Bernat Super Value Stripes yarn. This is a 7 point star blanket. Meaning, it has 7 sides. In the points, there is a popcorn stitch to make the points be more noticeable through the textured stitching.
Once you complete to round 5, the growth of each additional round is easy to maintain as the stitches gain by 1 st per side of a point. That is shown in the tutorial as well.

Well explained tutorial as always, thank you. Very nice looking pattern and what’s more is that it is done with regular #4 weight yarn and NOT extra chunky or bulky yarns! I don’t buy them because, for a big project they’re not very affordable! Thanking you, again. Wishing you and The Crochet Crowd a very Blessed & Happy 2019 New Year! ❤️🙏

I only have 1 question: if you go to 30 inches how many rounds is that? Thanks Michael for doing great videos. Between your videos and the patterns I am learning how to read patterns better.

I'm unsure actually. The pattern designer didn't state how many rows it was.

Very cool. I’ve tried it twice and it’s not laying as flat as I’d like. I wish I could see a pic of it flat before & after he teaches. Also, a slower better look at the project would help me. Thanks for all you do. Trying to give positive constructive criticism.

Do I fasten off popcorn stitch with a chain? I dont see you doing it in the video but it says to in the pattern. help! i love TCC!
@BrightCrochet
@BrightCrochet 3 жыл бұрын
If you haven't already worked out your problem, here is my opinion. Do not do the chain one after the popcorn stitch. The blanket lies flat without the chain one. I hope this helps.

My pattern will not flatten out? I am doing it the way u said to do!! What can I do n what am I doing wrong? I am on row 6 n it still won’t flap out like yours. Thanks Rita
@BrightCrochet
@BrightCrochet 3 жыл бұрын
For me, this pattern flattened more as I worked. But the written pattern does add a stitch. If you don't do the chain one after the popcorn stitch it will work up flat. Just keep going.

For the popcorns, the stitch key in the written instructions says to “ch 1 to secure popcorn.” I noticed that you’re not doing that in the tutorial. Will it make much difference whether the ch 1 is or isn’t done after each popcorn?
@kathymackay1623
@kathymackay1623 5 жыл бұрын
Ok, so I’ve done it both ways and have concluded that it’s best to NOT chain one to secure the popcorn as this causes it to be more wavy & not lay flat.
@TheCrochetCrowd
@TheCrochetCrowd 5 жыл бұрын
I think you are right. There appears to be a typo. Do the 3dctog as the tutorial states. I just double checked.
@TheCrochetCrowd

For the ch 1... You can... I didn't have much of an issue and the project stayed flat.

Thanks for that, Kathy! That's a problem I have a lot with circular afghans: they don't always lay flat. It's so frustrating, especially if it's a pattern I really like. Nothing to do about it but rip it out!

would this work to make 8 points, if you upped the beginning counts?
@dissodatore
@dissodatore 5 жыл бұрын
or maybe 6, and cutting the beginning counts?
@TheCrochetCrowd
@TheCrochetCrowd 5 жыл бұрын
I'm not so sure about that because the popcorn points can trigger buckling. I think you would have to experiment and do at least 12" around to see if the blanket will stay flat.

Really upset I followed this pattern and it just will not lay flat at all. I worked 37 rounds and it’s so wavy so it’s hard to get a good picture the way it’s shown. Love all the patterns and this was such an easy one to follow. Crochet crowd is always my go-to for fun patterns!

If you are missing points, do a full stop and try again. It won't lay out flat if you keep going. Don't give up on yourself.

Round 5 in the written pattern says “Sc3tog” which, according to your instructions, should say “Dc3tog.” That seems more logical, so it’s likely a typo.
