So appreciate your time with the tutorial and sharing the pattern. What a thoughtful person you are. I am going to use clothes line rope with your pattern! Wish me luck on this endeavor. The colors of your basket are my favorites along with a sand light tone. Great tutorial and positioning of your work for ease in understanding the placements for me.

Thank you so much for the kind words. Now...about this clothes line rope...I've never heard of anyone trying to crochet with clothesline rope. Isn't it too thick? I'm dying to hear how this works out for you. I love a sand tone as well. I'm working on a new crochet top design that uses a very subtle, light grayish/sandyish variegated yarn. Thank you for watching anc commenting.

Couldn’t have said it better. What size basket does this make? I just found a small table that looks like it is missing a drawer & naturally I can’t find one the size it needs so I thought I might attempt to crochet one since I know how to crochet. The size I’m needing to make is 14x8x3” 🤦🏻‍♀️

I found in doing this basket you need to use chunky weight yarn. I used Bernat Blanket chunky weight # 6 I also used 2 strands of yarn. Mabe mine bigger & it's not collapsing. Hope this helps!
@CrazyCoolCrochet
@CrazyCoolCrochet Жыл бұрын
Thank you for that. However, this does call for a #6 super bulky so it does not collapse.

Beautiful! Wondering HOW stiff the sides of the basket become. Obviously a knit winter hat turned upside down would be utterly FLOPPY, but how would this compare with the commercially available "cubby" bins as far as stiffness for the structure?
@CrazyCoolCrochet
@CrazyCoolCrochet 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The sides are not stiff like plastic cubbies. However, once you fill the basket with just about anything, it does hold its shape nicely. Enjoy!

If I wanted the rectangle base of the basket to be more squat (say an 8” x 12” rectangle) how many stitches would you recommend I start with in the initial chain? Chain 35 seems to make a much longer/skinnier basket, and I want mine much closer to a square shape.
@CrazyCoolCrochet

The basket in the tutorial measures 16 inches long. For 12 inches long start with a chain of 29. Thank you for watching!

Thank you for the pattern. Can you use 5# yarn instead of 6 please
@CrazyCoolCrochet
@CrazyCoolCrochet 4 жыл бұрын
You can try a #5 but it won't hold it's shape. It already is not quite stiff enough with a #6. If you try doubling up on the #5 it might be too hard to work with, but I might try that (and a larger hook). Of course that will require double the amount of yarn. Thank you for watching!

With six rows, how can you stitch 12 on the short side? She there be 12 rows?
@CrazyCoolCrochet
@CrazyCoolCrochet 3 жыл бұрын
The flat bottom correctly has 6 rows. You then need to work along the short sides, evenly placing 12 st's. Hope this helps.

@@tinaanderson3218 Yes, you can enter 2 hdc per row. Crochet is an art, not a science. LOL. You don't need to work stitch for stitch.

I just finished mine and it’s so flimsy!!! How can I make it more stiff like a basket? I’m thinking about putting some wire in it otherwise I’m not real pleased with this…
@CrazyCoolCrochet
@CrazyCoolCrochet 10 ай бұрын
My first question of course has to be...did you use a #6 yarn? Yes, this will collapse on itself when it's empty. The point of it is to fill with "stuff". LOL. It will absolutely hold up once you place things in it.

Would this be big enough for a Moses basket or would the bottom fall down
@CrazyCoolCrochet
@CrazyCoolCrochet 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the question. This is not big enough for a Moses basket. The dimensions are in the description area below the video: 5.5 inches high, 16 inches long, 6 inches wide. You can make the bottom wider and then adjust the rest of the pattern to fit. You might want to use a stronger yarn as well. This will cave in if it's too big.

Thank you for the video though I wish you could have shown where the 12 hdc go along the short sides. I see you’ve said space them evenly but that doesn’t seem to be helping me much. I have no idea where the stitches go and it’s throwing everything else off.

@CrazyCoolCrochet
@CrazyCoolCrochet 4 жыл бұрын
Once you fill the basket it's fine and holds its shape well. If you want to keep it empty you might need to try a #6 yarn that is not so soft. You can also try #5 yarn and double it up; use two strands for the entire project. Thank you for your comment!

I have been making lots of "pandemic crochet" baskets and I like to double the bulky yarn to make a basket that holds its shape. It's a little tough on the hands but they come out great.
