Crystal, I love that you made a "mistake" but left it in. It shows me that even an advanced crocheter can make a mistake. This actually motivates me! I usually let my mistakes discourage me, but no more! You're a great teacher.

I am so glad I saw this tutorial. Both my dad and my partner like wearing vests and I never had the courage to try it. Thank you so very much. Alsso I found easier to spave the stitches around d the arm Nd neck by marking 6 equal spaces which gave me 5 stitches in between the markings

I normally wouldn't think of crocheting a man's vest because my husband wouldn't wear it. But I believe my stepfather would since I've seen him wear them. I'll have to make the back straight across like the ones he wears. This will be a great surprise for him. Thank you for showing me how to make it. Blessings!

Crystal This vest tutorial is another winner. Your husband makes a great model! Would you please make one for small boys -there aren't a lot of patterns for boys, my grandson is six and a half years old and already fashion conscious: he would look adorable in a V-neck cabled vest/tank top/sleeveless V-neck sweater in your tutorial. This type of VEST is trending in the UK at least in the northern city where I live. Thank you for sharing, thank you {and your lovely husband} for being so kind. You are still at the top of my list of GREAT CROCHET TUTORS. I have followed you since you started making crochet bags. You have a gift for teaching crochet xxx

Chrystal this is gorgeous! Looks so good on mr bod. I have been crocheting since I was a teenager and I’m now 58 and I have never done cables. You make it look so easy and your such a great teacher and easy to follow! It hurts my arthritic hands so much to crochet which is why I taught myself to knit ( easier on the hands) but I may have to try this! I did make the cowl you made and did so so with my hands but I loved crocheting again . THANK YOU for your wonderful tutorials!!
@memmie1104 Жыл бұрын
I finally finished the vest for my stepfather! I had to really work on getting the neck right because, for some reason, my cables ended up a row longer or shorter than yours. I wasn't about to change it because I had already made the solid back and it matched the front cables. The other thing I did differently is the neck and armholes. Instead of putting it on the fron, then on the back, I just did it all in one piece on each area, then stitched the seams. I'm going to take some pics but I don't know where to post them so you can see them. 😞 Thank you so much for this tutorial! I've learned just how easy it actually is to crochet this cable and I learned how to do decreased arm holes and a V neck. 🤗 Blessings!

So I finished this vest today but I made some alterations: I used a 3.25 hook, made the shoulderparts longer so the armholes wouldn't be too small and shortened the body of the vest. Because of the yarn and hook I used there is some tension on the yarn wich makes the shoulder part look like overhanging shoulder pads but not in a good way. To make it look less awkward I would have refrained from increasing and just kept going with a lower stitch count. Also since my v neck is deeper from lengthening the shoulder parts it would've looked better with a third row of ribbing. I loved the tutorial and the instructions were very clear. I've only crocheted headbands and simple small shoulder bags before but I was still able to follow this tutorial successfully. Me not being content eith the way my vest looks is the result of the alterations I've made, NOT of this tutorial. Thank you for this Tutorial. One day I might attempt to crochet this vest again but with the alterations that I could've made to make it look more appealing to me:)

Hi Crystal! I've been wanting a Christmas present to crochet for my husband. I really love the stitch work on this design. The cables make it a stunning piece! My only issue is that he wouldn't wear a vest. I'd like to turn this into a sweater by adding sleeves but I'm not sure of how to get the decreases correct as I'd be tapering the sleeve as well as making a cable go down the center of the outside arm. I could go with plain double crochets for the sleeves but that wouldn't look as nice. Would you ever consider doing a video tutorial on this modification of your original design? I'm sure others would like a men's sweater tutorial as well. There aren't many nice designs for men.
