A summary of the continued testing of the market bags I made for my previous video. My findings regarding the stretch, durability, and stain resistance of the cotton bag vs. the acrylic bag.

Thanks so much for this. I've seen a lot of websites saying cotton is better for bags and summer garments, but after trying to make a top and seeing how much it stretches, I'm questioning this. I appreciate that you used measurements and a variety of tests to make this clearer.

This was so helpful! I have found such beautiful acrylic yarns that I want to use for bags like this but had heard that cotton was the preferred choice. You have shown me that it's not quite so black and white.

Bless you for doing these videos because I accidentally bought acrylic yarn instead of cotton yarn to try my hand at a market bag during the stay at home period. Returns are a nightmare right now so its good to know I can go ahead with the acrylic! Thanks 🙏🏽

thanks so much for this video and the one before it! i've been wanting to make some market bags, well bags in general, for a while now and wasn't too sure if acrylic (the only type of yarn i currently own) would be good enough. looks like for stretch and durability cotton is the better choice, but i'm glad to see that acrylic still does very well!

Thanks for this informative video. I have been making some market bags and this cotton vs acrylic thibg popped into my mind. I just want to know WHICH ONE IS YOUR FAVOURITE? AND WHY?

I would love to use cotton because it biodegrades naturally unlike acrylic. Also, when washing cotton it is still eco-friendly unlike acrylic,there are microplastics that goes into our waterways and into the ocean causing harm to our fishes and water.

All in all, a very well done comparison and great videos. I'm not sure you've drawn the correct conclusion from observing the fuzziness of the acrylic after washing. You say the acrylic will wear out faster than the cotton. I think in the short run the acrylic will look shabbier than the cotton, but in the long run the cotton will wear out faster. Cotton fabric will decompose in a matter of months. Acrylic is forever.
