The iconic knife was created specifically for the movie by legendary Australian gunsmith John Bowring after the studio asked them to make an iconic knife for the film based on the Bowie knife. Bowring is also the gunsmith and armorer for series like Mad Max, Mission Impossible, Matrix and X-Men. Typically, the Bowie knife has a upward facing full brass guard instead of the Bowring's downward facing one half guard. Bowring's version also featured leather and twine instead of typical wood handle. Only two originals were ever created, given to Paul Hogan and one other person with the promise that they would never be sold. The film studio actually holds the copyright for the knife which is why no major company has made them! Little trivia tidbit!

@discojelly3 жыл бұрын
@@Gablesman888 Technically.. Dundee was visiting the U.S. Technically even if he DID own a handgun, he would not be allowed to have it unless some specific license visiting foreigners can get. It was the 1980s when this movie came out (When I was a kid)... Directors were less concerned about light and airy and more concerned with an over the top back woods Aussie who wrestled Crocs. Gun control by today's standards was not a big hot point topic back then. Most folks in America relied on Dirty Hairy and other action stars for that kind of situation the some dude who lives everyday by his knife in the outback comparing his knife to the short little switch blade was an epic idea. Theaters 3 and 4 were our largest, and had the best sound systems, so that music and the atmosphere, just magic.

Mick seems reckless and naive but he is fully aware of the danger. In all the movies. Mike this scene, when he sees the knife, he stoppés for two secondes, check the knife, then return to his "reckless naive" act, smile, take control. His look at the "kids" is the look of a pedator. And then for sue he is minimizing the danger for her to feel safe. And Paul Hogan is playing it perfectly. Still an amazing movie !
