Some extra material from week 32 of the "English Nursery Garden Year" series....There was such a lot of this I couldn't decide what to cut, as I like to keep the weeks varied as possible. It was originally filmed the previous week, however, background noise from birds, tractor and mower rendered it unwatchable...

Thanks for the video Thomas and Liz... good info about the different varieties of Crocosmia, I have Lucifer which isn't doing too well, think its had too much water and not enough light but the Emily Mackenzie is thriving, I think it looks lovely. Montbreacia is a bugger though, its crept into my garden from next door and I'm always putting up corms.

If that had been me at 11.28 the spade would have flicked up, giving me a face full of mud, whereby I’d have fallen on my backside in the stream 🤣 Thanks for the reminder Liz, when this heatwave passes I must dig my clumps and divide/pot. 🙂

can you create new plants if you plant the old corms????

Do you bin old corms or try to regrow some or is it only fresh corms kept.

I have a similar plant Schizostylis Coccinea (Kafir Lilly / Crimsom Flag) which spreads pretty vigorously by rhizome instead of a corm. It easily takes over the bed & gets into crevices. Is Crocosmia a much better behaved plant that doesnt spread as much?

Nice video! Are crocosmia easy to grow from seed? I collected (ok stole) seed last year from one at a park here in London Canada, I think it's a Lucifer. The seed germinated well indoors this spring, and I transplanted them outside, so far one is doing well (rabbits got one I think) Anyway just wondered if you grow them from seed...Cheers

Lucifer seems to not flop if planted much deeper than other varieties.

Who is the insensitive ass kicking the plants? I have as much disdain for someone like that as it appears they do for the plant. No place for that attitude in the garden.
