Using a Horsch Joker RT25 | Vlog 22
In this video, we accomplish a fair bit in one day. We finish planting soybeans (no footage), plant some white beans and demo a Horsch Joker provided by Kearney Planters. We're down to having only 86 acres to plant at the end of the day (3:00am in the morning...long day). Really happy with the Joker RT and you'll have to watch the video to see if it finds a permanent home.

Hey Mark u did a great job explaining how your machinery works. Finally got to hear your ( ledgeable)voice when talking on Sandi’s post. You have a great family and it’s enjoyable watching how your farm expands.

Been watching the big American channels for a long time. It’s nice to find a Canadian channel to see how it’s done around here(I’m just a few hours away in Ontario). Especially seeing three different views of the same family operation. Great work. And Horsch seems to be making some great equipment.

Yes soybeans aren't edible for people. Mainly used for biofuels or livestock feed.

Yep, at the end of the day it's still a disc. We were running a more traditional style disc frame VT before, this Horsch Joker seems to maintain working depth a little better.

How many HP were you pulling the Joker with?
@MarkBrock
@MarkBrock 5 жыл бұрын
I would say 290 would be safe. The tractor pulling it is our tuned up 8295R that's about 340hp and it had no problem.

Mark regarding the joker, what kind of horsepower does that 25 footer take, and after seeing how the beans came up for you does it look like it made a nicer seedbed vs using a turbo till (residue sizing), how fast are you pulling it, and how does it handle rocks (I have lots of them). I ask because I have a Krause TT currently and these high speed discs intrigue me. I have seen them on dealer lot here in SE Mn but haven't seen any in the fields.
@MarkBrock
@MarkBrock 4 жыл бұрын
To be honest it's like a day vs night difference between the Joker and the turbo till. I've very happy with the white bean emergence and how well it incorporated the chemicals sprayed PPI. Joker is hand down better than our old turbo till especially in sizing residue. As for horsepower, it takes a good 280hp to pull it fast enough.

Do you do any no-till? Why are you doing vertical tillage in the spring rather than doing fall tillage, and cultivating in the spring?
@MarkBrock
@MarkBrock 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, we no-till most of our soybeans, but are comfortable no-tilling white beans as their root structure is a little more sensitive to stress. As for fall tillage, it was too wet to do any type of tillage without damaging the soil so this farm was left as is after corn harvest. We, prefer to do as little full tillage in the fall as possible to minimize erosion.

@@MarkBrock i have a 3m joker CT, doing 20kph makes a perfectly smooth seedbed after soybeans and canola, after corn its tougher with all the trash. i have the same rollflex attachment on the end, at speed it brings up finer dirt to the surface and buries the clods
