CROSSBOW VS. COMPOUND BOW // Which bow is better for hunting?

I have a 30 inch draw,... I shoot 27 inch arrows I just put a big loop on. I started that with youth bows,.... I have modern bows too,.. Chinese Bows,.... a Mirage and a Fossil their fully adjustable for any draw length 19''-31'' or poundage 15#-70#. I probably have 20 compound Bows 13ish Bear 6 wheel bows and 4 other Bear compounds,... 3 Take down recurves,... 2 cross bows, and 2 Chinese compounds. Bear wheel bows are my favorites I can shoot it low poundage or put the cable over the wheel and get the intended poundage,.....and you have more poundages available by moving the pulleys. Bear Polar is my favorite bows because their light. On Bear Bows you don't need sights they shoot like a recurve or you can use sights. Then I have wooden bows that I have made,....I got the compounds so that if somebody has to have my wood bow I still have others I can use.

Depends on the definition of better, for ease of hunting the crossbow wins. Clearly compound bow is a good deal more challenging, which can be better for pride.

A cross bow is tough to walk around with but it works better than a compound bow. You can lay right on the ground. You don't struggle to draw it to full draw,... you just cock and release it. I used to draw bows over 80# and now its hard to draw 50#. Both work well and a cross bow allows impared people to hunt too. A cross bow is so accurate it might cost you some arrows when you Robin Hood them. Its sad when states tell you what you can shoot,... Archery is Archery. No Archery device is like or as good as a gun. And its great to know when age creeps in you don't have to stop doing what you love to do,.. you simply go to a different device thats easier for you too use.

Since the crossbow is shooting off a arrest, you need to shoot the compound bow out of a Hooter Shooter. That would be fair or shoot the crossbow freehanded.

@MADD I’m a big proponent of Crossbows. I choose crossbow and support there use. The biggest thing is that I support all hunters using legal archery equipment. What I don’t support is those who are anti crossbow. We need hunters and unfortunately the anti’s too often come out of the vertical bow group. There are plenty of great people out there and it’s not all, but there’s a few in that group that are just bad. They try to cut other hunters down to make themselves feel better and they suffer from chronic arrogance. Crossbows are technically superior to vertical bows. Faster, more powerful, more consistently accurate with less practice. In the end, all of have the right to do what’s makes us happy.
