Thank you for sharing your latest journey Simon, very enjoyable, as always. I like the look of the new class 730 trains, worthy looking successors to the class 323s.
@Sim0nTrains2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Richard, hopefully the Class 730s are good units but they will not have the 3 plus 2 seating like the Class 323s have

A brilliant video, the class 323's are brilliant units and it will be sad to see them leave the cross city line. Nice to see the cross country diverts on the cross city as well. :)

LOL when the train come at the start I thought, woah funny sounding train there, The gears of the hairy train sound like an F1 car just starting. The XC arrives in Aberdeen at 2044.

I will be looking forward to seeing the Class 730 Aventras on the Chase Line that is replacing the Class 323. And on the West Coast Main Line. Nice to see 1 Class 730 “730005” on test run.

Where and when is the question, however I did hear that the Class 196s won't be in service till later this year but only a rumour at the moment, thanks Andrew

Very interesting, and also quite nostalgic for me as I worked and stayed for a while in the Sutton Coldfield area in my "trainee" days, which would be around 1979(!). I had digs in Mere Green, just next to Four Oaks, and would travel down from home which would then have been near Leeds to Birmingham New Street (probably by what BR called their "Cross Country" service I seem to remember), and thence up to Four Oaks. That must have been BR Corporate Blue (quite possibly Peak Class 45s on the InterCity) and slam-door stock back then. Not exactly the best time to be on British Rail from a passenger's point of view as it could be pretty grim at times. Things have changed somewhat since then. I really need to go and look at your "proper" Four Oaks video. In more recent times (I have continued to have business down there from time to time) I would be making the journey by four wheels on the M6 and M6 Toll, staying in Tamworth, but that's just plain boring! I really appreciate the history and again those captions ... !

Thanks you Martin'sMiscMix and honestly when looking at the history of the Cross City Line back in the 70s and 80s It did really look like a worse service than what they have now, at it peak there used to be 12 trains a hour between Four Oaks and Longbridge (also 12 trains a hour between Longbridge and Four Oaks) until Covid reduced the timetables. Also thank you for being a Patreon member as well.

Great video, Simon! It was interesting how this line got pieced together over a number of years. Do you think you'll complete Soho Bingo before all the 323s get replaced by Class 730s?
@Sim0nTrains2 жыл бұрын
Thanks barrowc, honestly... no because I think how it played is you see a sighting of the name but you also have to match it at it's station like 323210 Shenstone has to be at Shenstone Station. Think people have a point system so it 2 or 3 points for a sighting and 5 points to match the nameplate with the station.

how do you know when trains are going to be diverted?
@Sim0nTrains4 ай бұрын
Social Media & Websites. Sometimes there tweets/posts on Twitter/X about it, National Rail will also mention it but then I look on Real Time Trains to find the paths for the diverted trains in the detail section and not in the simple version www.nationalrail.co.uk/status-and-disruptions/ www.realtimetrains.co.uk/
