The main problem I see today for marriages is commitment. Because of the self-serving nature of so many individuals.
@droe2570

Yep. I had a conversation about love, and I asked him why he loved his wife. His answer was because his wife makes him happy. In other words, he loves himself and married her to keep her making him happy. I thought his answer was tragic. I asked him what happens when she stops making him happy, and he had no answer. For decades, many have taught a horrible lie: that you must love yourself before you can love anyone else. This lie has led to loving yourself above anyone else. This is the same lie the serpent gives in Eden; to make oneself one's own god, the center of one's own life. It's destructive not only of marriages and families, but all of society.

@@droe2570 Ouch. That is sad indeed. It's not just the self-love that's the problem. It's the happiness lie. As someone put it, we aren't built for happiness. It's clear that that's true given what we observe. It used to be that happiness was a feeling derived from some purpose or goal being fulfilled. That's part of what affirms that you have fulfilled it. But now it seems like people are just searching for that hit of dopamine. It's like aim for happiness, then find some things to attain that feeling. Purpose or goal should come first. Why you're aiming for those should also be important before deciding to aim at it. And if the why is for some self-serving reason, perhaps the individual should question that.

I concur with your perspective on this. However, I would like to point out that the first commandment was not to be fruitful and multiply, it was simply the first commandment that we come to in scripture. The first commandment was given to Adam before Eve was created, in Genesis 2:16-17, which was not to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. We know this commandment to precede the commandment to be fruitful and multiply in Genesis 1:28, because it specifies that God blessed them… and God said unto them… this was the commandment given to both Adam and Eve, who was not created until Genesis 2:22.

I think that two partners, should only have sex, if they are willing to have a child together. That's the main reason for it, right? They don't always have to try pleasuring each other, every single night. I would think that's just abusing the power of love. I'd say, do it once, and if it don't work, they can try it again the next month or two.

I was in bondage to the first view (repress sexual desire, don't talk about it, it's embarrassing), but I dove in to studying what God's Word really says about it. Now I joyfully relish my sexuality and wait in purity for possibly being married someday, when I can give all that stored-up heat to one man. I wish Christians (at least those who practice the purity culture ideas) would see sex as the beautiful gift that it is and encourage study and preparation for it. If Christian couples were embracing sex with the same vigor that the world does, but in Godly, monogamous relationships, we could take it back and make it what God intended it to be.
@jasonwilliams8321
@jasonwilliams8321 4 ай бұрын
Totally agree. The problem is too many bad teachings that don't take into account the complexity of individuality in humankind. There are some people who are totally ok with waiting what amounts to decades before committing and settling down. Other's cannot. Sexual relationships have a monopoly on sex and whether we like it or not we have hormones. Going for a brisk run in the morning is not going to quell sexual urges (especially for men since it gins up more testosterone). The church is really in an uncomfortable spot in that for the better part of 15 years they rallied behind Josh Harris and his book IKDG, even ordaining him as pastor of a megachurch without him having any formal theological training. Then when the data began rolling in (women with shattered marriages unable to develop healthy relationships with their spouses (some becoming lesbians) and men who had no idea how to talk to women) it was hard to argue with such damming stats. To admit that they were wrong is something the church doesn't like to do (going all the way back to Sir Isaac Newton) so they are trying to do damage control and spin it into a new message but you can't really do that with the purity message because as in it's original tenants you have to subscribe to the whole thing or nothing at all.

For those who misguidedly think that it is allegorical or symbolic instead of about romance/sex, you are wrong. It is about romance/sex/romantic-love... and sex/romance is symbolic of our relationship with God. What's the difference? The difference is that as far as we know the book had romance between two non-divine humans primarily in mind, so it is only about our relationship with God because all Godly romance is symbolic of relationship with God. I interpret it as a Godly romance book. I think it does teach some important things. For example, I pondered whether tongue kissing was a natural thing or simply a permissible convention[I already knew it was perfectly permissible within marriage]. The book doesn't answer whether it is natural, but it does clearly imply that they were tongue kissing[lustfully comparing the saliva to wine if I recall correctly], so it is at least something that God is happy about doing[within marriage] and it is historically interesting for that reason. The book could also be used to correct foolish notions that sex is all about procreation, that romance and passion have no value, and so on. How many times does the Song of Solomon mention procreation as a motivation? I've even seen christians[women] say that breasts should not be considered sexual, but the Biblical position is that breasts should be sexually enjoyed by a woman's husband. lol I've seen christians say that romance is pretty much overrated, which is disproved by the fact that the Bible has like 2 romance books[Song of Solomon and Ruth] and arguably some romantic "subplots" outside of those 2 books[Ruth being the other one and no Esther is DEFINITELY not romance and Hosea is an AGAPE love story but not a romantic/positive one. I see no reason why those things don't warrant a place in scripture. Maybe God inspired it to become canonical so that people would know that He is the original designer of romance, that couples are supposed to appreciate and take pleasure in each other, and for cynical ignorant future people to know that there were good ancient men who loved their wives, among hebrews at the very least. It shows/teaches ways that couples verbally express such appreciation for each other. If it had been on-the-nose allegory for our relationship with God, then it would lose some of it's purpose I think, it would distract from the teaching about the value of romance. I think God wisely intended it to be about romance between two humans and knew that their romance is symbolic enough without making it into an allegory. Are healthy marriages not important enough to God to inspire a small book to show that He values romance? I think it is pretty messed up that some christians treat the Song of Solomon like it is a super edgy book, that kind of reaction to it shows that something has gone wrong with those particular christian sub-cultures. Yeah, it has some obviously implied sexual stuff, but it is far from edgy and reading it out loud would probably be PG rated instead of R-rated. It would be X-rated to make a video showing what they were talking about[so would showing wholesome sexual activities of any married couple], showing it would be edgy and sinful. If people think that the Song of Solomon is edgy, then what do they think of Ezekiel? :)
@Contrarian-v7p
@Contrarian-v7p 7 ай бұрын
I disagree with romance being as important as you're making it seem. SoS can very much be looked at as prophetic allegory or a picture of eschatological prophecy. Marriage and sex are ultimately insignificant considering both will fade away at the end of the age. If it doesn't ha e eternal value, why focus so heavily on it? Some theologians even theorize that sex was never meant to be part of our experience before sin. Hence God's treatment of bodily fluids in the old testament. Also, the fact that gay people often have MORE fulfilling and pleasurable love lives, and that they're even capable of it should speak volumes. Romance is an idol for too many people, especially Christians.
@Contrarian-v7p
@Contrarian-v7p 7 ай бұрын
Also, the book talks about sex (likely as an allegory). Not romance. Plenty of historical literature is even more "romantic" or "passionate" but have no bearing on the way the authors really felt about and treated their wives. This is especially true of Greek literature. Hetero romantic love was very rarely like the way it was portrayed for the sake of art. Hell, even Ruth is less about romance (literally none) and more about the bond between Ruth and Naomi. Even David (the man after God's own heart) had a bond with is male friend that he claimed far surpassed any of the love he'd had with women. Sorry, but you're take is incredibly delusional.

@@Contrarian-v7pI am not sure that we are on the same page on what romance means. To be fair, I don't have a strict definition of it, I guess I would define it as a sexual[not necessarily involving sex acts] manifestation of Godly love[so I would not say that homosexuality or soap opera toxic drama or so on is valid romance.] Many twisted ideas of romance are extremely off-putting and unromantic to me, so it is unclear to me how much of our disagreement is semantic in this case. I am not really into the romance genre of books or movies because I find them annoying or sad, full of foolishness that would lead to heartbreak in reality. People can twist many good things into idols, that doesn't mean that the things are bad when they are as God desires them to be and enjoyed in wisdom and purity. I am currently reading "Don Quixote" and laughing a lot at the absurd versions of romance that it is satirizing, I agree that people's ideas about romance can be absurd, but it is not fair to lump mature, wise, and pure christian romance along with all the empty drama. I think you are falling into some logical errors. It does not follow at all that a thing is worthless or unimportant just because it is not eternal. By that reasoning, the words of the prophets are worthless or unimportant, because prophecies will pass away [1 Corinthians 13:8], earthly lives are worthless because they will end, we could go on an on about valuable things that will be obsolete in heaven but still valuable now.
@Contrarian-v7p
@Contrarian-v7p 7 ай бұрын
@@danielbowden5301 Then I have no idea how you define romance. It's not a logical error to assert that temporal things are ultimately worthless. Does the Bible stress not valuing your life here? The fact that babies can lose their lives and miss out just goes to show there is truly nothing worth holding onto here besides the message of the gospel (which is eternal). So no, I maintain that romance is useless and sex is nothing but a mechanical means of reproduction. Christians especially would be wise to stop putting it on a pedestal.

IN THE GARDEN OF LOVE! (From Genesis Chapters 2 & 3!) 1. Adam sat down under the shade of a mango tree, scratching his head. He had practically exhausted his vocabulary, naming all the different animals that the Lord had brought to him. The last two animals came up to him, and tired as he was, Adam had to crack a smile when he took a good look at them. "They look like the animal I named 'horse' a while ago," he thought, "except they're all white with up-and-down black stripes on them!" He petted their long noses, saying, "Now what shall I call you?" 2. He couldn't help but notice--as he had noticed with all the other animals--that there were two of them, a male and a female. "You shall be called 'zebra'," he said with a sigh, patting their backs. He then turned and walked alone through the breath-taking beauty of the Garden of Eden. All about him were trees laden with delicious fruit of every possible description and taste!--But Adam didn't feel hungry. It was all so wonderful, so beautiful, but he felt that something was wrong, something was missing. 3. He glanced back at the different pairs of animals strolling through the Garden together. "Each of them has their mate!--One of their kind that is like them! Is there a mate for me?" he wondered. Somewhat sadly, he walked towards the sparkling waterfall in the midst of the Garden. But even his favourite spot in all of Eden seemed empty and lacking somehow. Alone, and feeling heavy at heart, Adam lay down and fell asleep in the soft, cool grass. 4. The Lord had enjoyed watching Adam name all the animals. He was also keenly interested in how Adam would react when he discovered that all the animals had mates, but there was not another creature like himself. The Lord knew that Adam would now truly appreciate a mate and companion, and He said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper for him." The Lord then caused Adam to fall into a very deep sleep, and while he slept, He removed one of Adam's ribs and closed up the flesh after it. From the rib, the Lord made His ultimate, most beautiful creation: Woman! 5. Adam awoke some time later and saw the Lord standing nearby. Adam had seen the Lord before, but he had never before seen the beautiful naked creature who was now standing beside the Lord! 6. "Adam," the Lord said, "I have created a female from your rib, and she shall be your mate, to be with you and to love you!" 7. Adam's heart pounded furiously, and his face was radiant with joy as he leapt to his feet! "Oh Lord!" he exclaimed, "she is the most lovely of all creatures You have created! She is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'Woman', for she was taken out of Man!" 8. Then the Lord blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and multiply! Increase in number and fill the earth with your children!" 9. "How will we have children?" Adam questioned, puzzled. 10. "You must unite with the woman and become one flesh!" the Lord said with a smile. "I have put the knowledge of these things deep inside your heart!" Then the Lord vanished slowly and Adam was left alone with the ravishingly beautiful, naked woman the Lord had made for him! 11. "How wonderful it will be to have someone so much like myself to talk and share my joys and happiness with!" Adam thought. But Adam was most fascinated with the fact that the Lord had blessed them and commanded him to unite as 'one flesh' with her! Taking his lovely companion by the hand, he said softly, "Woman, I would like to 'become one' with you as the Lord commanded. Would you like to also?" 12. "Oh yes!" she answered in beautiful innocence, her eyes sparkling with love. "But what do we do?" Adam took her hand in his and looked deep into her soft blue eyes. "I'm not really sure" he confessed, "only I feel like coming very close to you and touching you!" A new and wonderful sensation was sweeping through Adam's body, and suddenly he took the woman into his arms and began gently kissing her. Soon they sank down together onto the soft and inviting grass, and slowly, beautifully, in the perfect purity and innocence of God's Own Garden of Eden, the very first man and woman ever created joined together in rapturous love! Now the Garden had truly become a Paradise! And because she was to be the mother of all Mankind, Adam called her Eve, meaning "Spring of Life"! 13. During the following weeks, Adam and Eve explored the Heavenly Garden together, running and playing through its beautiful lush orchards! Such joy and happiness filled their days! Of all the wonderful physical blessings the Lord had given Man and Woman, they most enjoyed the pure pleasures of beautiful, loving sex with one another! 14. But, sad to say, all was not well in Paradise! The Devil was furious at God's great Plan for the man and woman to make love and create children to fill the Earth, new souls for the Eternal Kingdom of God! "I must stop and destroy this Plan!" he cried. Entering Eden, he possessed the serpent, the most crafty and cunning of all creatures. He then made his way towards a tall, awesome Tree standing in the center of the Garden. Patiently he waited for Eve. 15. As she passed by, the Devil called out and asked her, "Has God really said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the Garden'?" Surprised, Eve replied, "We may eat of all the fruit of the trees in the Garden; but of the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, God has said, 'You shall not eat of it, neither shall you even touch it, lest you die!" 16. "Die?!" the Devil laughed. "Why, your life would only begin! You shall not surely die! No, no!--The real reason God has told you not to eat it is because He's keeping something back from you!--Something you should have but that He hasn't given you!--And that is knowledge! Wisdom! 17. "For God knows that in the day that you eat of this Tree, then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as the gods (angels), knowing good and evil! 18. "Besides, it is by far the most delicious fruit in all of Eden! Go ahead! Take some!" he hissed. 19. Having listened to and pondered the serpent's story, Eve curiously gazed at the succulent, ripe fruit hanging from the dark branches. "It does look good to eat!" she thought, "And it certainly is pleasant to look upon!" But more than anything else, she was spellbound by the desire to be like a goddess!--To obtain this forbidden wisdom and knowledge! 20. "Look at it, Eve!" the serpent hissed hypnotically, "Take it in your hands! Take it and eat if you desire to be wise! Wisdom!--Knowledge!--Yes, the understanding of the gods is yours for the taking!" 21. Slowly Eve reached out and plucked a luscious-looking fruit and held it in her hands. Smelling its sweetness, she took a bite of it. She was suddenly startled by Adam who came at that very moment and cried out, "Eve! What are you doing?! You know that fruit is forbidden to us!" But Eve had already disobeyed and now a deep dark change had come over her! Her innocence and her purity were dashed to pieces, and her entire thinking had become distorted and corrupted! She gave some to Adam, and soon had convinced him to eat some also. Immediately after swallowing that first bite, a strange feeling overcame him and he looked around and said, "How different everything looks!" 22. "Now look!--Look at yourselves!" Satan cackled gleefully. 23. "What? Look at what?" Eve asked. 24. "Can't you see?" the serpent answered. "You're both naked! Look at your sexual organs! They're exposed!--You should be ashamed! Quickly, cover yourselves before you look at each other and your evil minds begin to lust after dirty, degraded, perverted, disgusting ... sex!" 25. Because of their disobedience to God and the distorted outlook they now had as a result of their sin, Adam and Eve believed the Devil's lie and became ashamed of their nakedness! Quickly they sewed themselves aprons out of fig leaves to cover themselves. Scarcely had they finished when they heard the sound of the Lord walking in the Garden in the cool of the day and they were afraid! Guiltily, Adam and Eve raced for cover and hid themselves amongst the trees. But the Lord called out, "Where are you? Why have you hidden from Me?" 26. Afraid to confess their sin, Adam stammered, "I was afraid and hid myself because ... because ... I was naked!" 27. The Lord demanded, "Who told you you were 'naked'? Adam! ... Eve! ... Have you eaten of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil which I commanded you that you should not eat?" 28. Indeed they had! And because of their lust for wisdom, knowledge, and the power to become as God, they had disobeyed Him! Their minds and hearts were now sinful and defiled, and they could no longer be allowed to remain in the Garden, lest they eat of the Tree of Life and live forever in their disobedient, fallen state! Sadly, the Lord drove them out of the Garden of Eden!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT--In the Garden of Love 29. (1) What was God's first commandment to man?--"Be fruitful and multiply!" (Genesis 1:28)--In other words, God's first commandment to man was to have sex!--Because how can you be fruitful and multiply unless you first have sex? So, contrary to the doctrines of some churches, Man's first sin was not sex! In fact, Man's first obedience to God was sex! Therefore sex is not a sin, but was created by God in the very beginning to be enjoyed by Mankind! Adam and Eve enjoyed sex long before they fell into sin, and were created by God with sexual organs to do so in the very beginning! So how could sex be sinful if they were commanded to practice it before they fell? If there's something wrong or evil about sex and your body, then why did God make them?--And if He didn't intend for us to enjoy sex, then why did He put all those nerves in our sexual organs that make us feel so good? So sex is not evil after all, but a wonderful gift from God to be fully enjoyed in the right relationships! 30. (2) Adam and Eve lived in the beautiful Garden of Eden without any cover ups or clothing, and were absolutely nude all the time, but thought nothing of it! They only became ashamed of their pure God-created bodies after they fell because of disobedience, and had sin in their hearts--the wrong sinful view of things! Before that, with pure sinless hearts and a Heavenly outlook, they weren't even aware of being naked!--They'd never been anything else! All was beautiful until Satan lied to them, undermining their faith in God's Word regarding the Tree of Knowledge. It wasn't until after they disobeyed the Lord that they ever thought that there was anything wrong with their sexual parts! The Lord asked them, "Who told you that you were naked?" (Genesis 3:11) Obviously, it was the Devil who told them they were naked! He polluted and corrupted their pure minds with the lie that nudity was evil and that there was something wrong with their sexual parts! Devil knew that if he could get them to believe that nudity was evil, then of course they'd believe that sex must be very evil! Remember, God's first commandment was for them to "be fruitful and multiply", to have sex and children! But by persuading them that nudity and sex were evil, the Devil was attacking the very root of the Creation of God!--Because without nudity you hinder sex, and without sex you can't have children! So one of the Devil's first commandments was for man not to have sex, to get them to disobey God and thereby destroy God's loving Plan for Man! So, contrary to what many religious people teach, the Devil hates and fights sex!-Because it is God's Own beautiful Creation, His idea, His gift to us, and the Devil is its arch-enemy! Of course, he tries to take the credit for it, and then trickily turns around and condemns you for enjoying it, telling you that it is a sin! 31. (4) The Devil hates sex, but since he can't wipe it out, he tries to control it and get the credit for it! So he has craftily deceived the World into thinking that he loves it, and that in order to enjoy it, people have got to break the laws of God and the Bible and be the Devil's sinners! He has totally perverted the whole World's attitude towards sex, persuading them that it's evil, that it's wrong, and that they have got to be following him in order to enjoy it! But you may say, "I can't believe that all sex is good!--What about all of those sex magazines and movies that glorify per versions, violence, etc.?" Well, the answer is simple: Because the Devil wants the credit for sex and the worship for it, he takes God's marvelous and beautiful gift of sex and tries to pervert it into something ugly, horrible and wicked! So he often pretends to promote it, when what he's really doing is absolutely degrading it, demeaning it, besmirching it, trying to drag God's wonderful creation down to the gutter! God meant for it to be beautiful--and it is beautiful! It's the Devil who tries to pervert and make it ugly and crude and almost sickening, like those porno movies where sex organs are the principal characters! Artistic nudity and loving, clean, romantic sex are beautiful, the way that God intended! But any kind of violent or hurtful or perverted sex is sickening! The Bible says, "God is Love!" (1John 4:8) So if it's unloving, it's ungodly and of the Devil! Our bodies are beautiful creations of God, and every part of them is perfectly normal, natural and God-made for perfectly good purposes, if used at the right times with the right people! Our sexual parts are just as good as the rest of our bodies, and sexual activities, feelings and pleasures are as natural and normal as eating, drinking, exercising or enjoying any other God-created physical functions and pleasures! God is not against pleasure! He even created us and the entire Universe for His Own enjoyment! The Bible says, "O Lord, Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were created!" (Revelation 4:11) In like manner, God expects us to enjoy the many wonderful pleasures of life that He has made for us! (See Ecc.5:18-20) 32. (5) The only way that you will ever really be able to fully and freely enjoy the sexual pleasures that God has created, is if you have His love in your heart, so you can have real love for others. You'll never really fully enjoy sex without real love! Because without real love, mere physical sex just won't satisfy, and you'll feel something is missing. God created sex to be the most beautiful physical experience on Earth, but before we can fully enjoy it, we must first experience and know real Love, for "Love is of God, and God is Love!" (1John 4:7,8) 33. (6) The only way that you can possibly regain the liberty that Adam and Eve had in the Garden before they fell--total freedom from any guilt complexes about sex--is to know God's Love and His forgiveness of sin through Jesus. The Bible says, "To the pure, all things are pure. But to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure; but even their minds and conscience are corrupted!" (Titus 1:15) If you have Jesus in your heart, and you know His love and forgiveness, then you can get back to the original freedom of the Garden, "For the Truth shall make you free!" (John 8:32) The way back to the freedom of the Garden of Eden is to get back to fellowship and a relationship with the Lord, and belief in His Word, faith in Him and in His Creation.--To know that He made it all, and that He wants you to enjoy every pleasure that is clean and right and good and loving, that He wants you to live in the pleasures of love that He created between man and woman!--So let's get back to the Garden by getting back to God and His Word and His Love!

That’s not how it goes with S*xual assault. If it was just physical it would be the same as getting punched. It happens to you, you recover later and your fine. We know for the latter that’s not reality though. I’m not saying you can’t be traumatized from being assaulted, you sure can be but for the latter that’s a way graver offense because you are taking away the purity and sanctity of someone else. That’s not a scar that heals, that’s one that lasts forever. People who are very emotionally tough have learned to live with it, but it’s not the same as a physical thing you can just heal from. That was the point he was trying to make. If it was just physical, it would be just like recovering from being hit very hard. There would not be as much if any emotional trauma.

No, there is more to both than the physical and it is the non-physical part -- the spirit -- that is most important. Both are violations of individuals made in the image if God. The physical part, terrible as it is, is secondary to the wounding of the spirit. But if there is only matter and energy, there is no such thing as "violation" because there is nothing to praise or condemn about atoms and molecules bumping into each other. Here's the problem: 1. Church doesn't really want to talk about sex. 2. Since the church was forced to talk about it, they explained it as a rewards system (stay pure- happy life / impure- unhappy life). This is easily refuted by statistics. 3. The church began to be more influenced by secular social trends (feminism, pop culture) and departed from the millennia old tested methods of successful relationships and marriage (marrying young and during the time of your peak hormonal stress). 4. Church began to devalue marriage by placing career and financial security in a prerequisite status for the former. Traditionally husbands and wives started with little and worked together to build a life and framework that would at some point also act as a social security net for aging parents. 5. Sexual relationships have a monopoly on sex. The church fails to realize that when normal, viable routes for sexual expression are restricted or abolished the natural response is not to abstain and lead a celibate existence (very few can do this) but to obtain it from black market sources (pornography, AI girlfriends, prostitution). this is supported by statistics as well as a casual observation that pornography has invaded the church at a time when unions between men an women of marriageable age are at an all time low.

Great video! Small point of potential improvement, though: 1:36 I do not believe this is a correct principle -- that if God does something, we should do it too. God takes vengeance, and we should not take vengeance. God declares himself as God, and we should not declare ourselves as God. God wants people to worship him, and we should not want people to worship us. We _are_ created in the image of God, but the extent of what that means isn't really clear. One thing we _can_ say, though, is that not _everything_ God is allowed to do, people can also do. I'm not opposed to creativity; all my work and all my hobbies are creative. But I don't think you can use this particular principle to support that. We should create _life_ (have children) because God commanded us to, but you don't need to piece together a principle like this in order to support that. I love a good principle, but it's got to be bulletproof, and this one isn't.

As an addition, though I'm not certain if this is ever approached in his talk, a man and woman performing sexual acts are equivalent to "taking in marriage" according to scripture. Divorce and remarriage to a new person is considered adultery, yet Joseph could have been righteous in divorcing Mary specifically and ONLY because he had not yet "laid" with her. This is also supported by laws in Deuteronomy and the words of Jesus in Mark 10. If two become one flesh, what actualizes that action? The physical union. This is also why people who "sleep around" were either to be put to death or forced to "marry" in OT Israelite law. Adultery is a married person sleeping with someone they are not married to, but how does a mere vow/ceremony make the physical act any different? Answer: it doesn't. The "consummation" of your vows are what truly wed you. The physical union creates "one flesh". Polygamy is adultery. "Experimenting" is adultery. Anything beyond your "first" is technically adultery as well. Not to say that there isn't forgiveness. God allowed a lot of leeway historically, but it was never his intended plan. (See the first Genesis comand as referenced in the video.) People sin and there is forgiveness for it, but the knowing and willful defiance of God's plans despite knowing better is something that will need an account at judgement. When two become one flesh, that's it.

In particular, v8) The wisest man tried everything he could to find meaning and value in life. As it so happens, the taking of hundreds of wives and concubines does not satisfy. Thus the lesson that "more than one" isn't necessary. Solomon was an adulterer to the extreme, as was David and nearly every other OT patriarch. It doesn't negate the point. In fact, it largely proves it. The warning factions of families within his royal families created all sorts of unnecessary turmoil. It's largely the pursuit of "something more" while disregarding God's commands which brings about such troubles. Defer to God first and the rest will follow. (Ecclesiastes 12:8-14)

I hope anyone answers my doubt with a logical reason. God came to earth and died for our sins. Agree. Now, if we sin against God the punishment we face is eternal. When God took it on himself, it became finite. How or Why ?
@jordanmarais286
@jordanmarais286 8 ай бұрын
It is not so much "punishment" as it is "choice". God doesn't send people to hell as punishment for their sins. Sinful people choose hell over heaven because they reject living for eternity with God as that would require submission to His will. This would remove the problem of finite sacrifice to avoid infinite punishment as hell is not a punishment. This also removes the problem of infinite punishment for finite sin as the sin is choosing hell itself so even if hell were punishment, the sin is infinite as well. A good resource to look at for further study would be Inspiring Philosophy (Michael Jones) where he explains concepts about hell in more depth. Hope this helps!

There's plenty of people that haven't and don't take marriage seriously and cheat on each other and cause much pain and wasted years. . Sex aside, maybe for some, if they would have lived together to learn more about one another and each others ticks, then maybe they would have made a better assessment on if they should be married in the first place. I hate that most Christians/denominations treat sex as a taboo subject. Pastors should dedicate at least a sermon every six months for talking about sex and how God wants it to be a beautiful thing to be enjoyed between a husband and wife! The do’s and don’ts of acts in the bedroom, etc. based on what the Bible says. If pastors did this, I think there would be a lot more healthier marriages.

The ironic aversion to sex as modern and Medieval originated by Paul the Apostle himself... He was asexual (held no sexual attraction at all). We see this with his comments in 1 Corinthians 7:1-9... It reads: "Now concerning the things of which you wrote to me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman (no red blooded heterosexual man would say such a thing). Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband (once again, no heterosexual man would describe sexual desire in this way). Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. But I say this as a concession, not as a commandment. For I wish that all men were even as I myself (asexual). But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that. But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: It is good for them if they remain even as I am (that is statistically and psychologically false); but if they cannot exercise self-control (God's first commandment to humanity is to have sex... Within the bond of marriage of course but are are supposed to be driven together for this end), let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion."

Let's get into God's purpose for intimacy, how it creates unity and fosters selflessness; how we can come to understand God better/more fully, when we practice becoming one physically, with an understanding of God's intention. There's so much more, like understanding pleasure from a spiritual perspective, and the physical changes that happen that effect health, the differences between sex within marriage and outside of, and frankly, it's unique offering, within marriage, of relating to God in the opposite of suffering and sorrow; in understanding our Creator AS a Creator, family, sacrifice, the manner in which the husband is the giver, and the wife the receiver, etc, etc! This is a gross oversimplification on both ends. On the secular end, they say that sex is good as long as you don’t harm anyone, BUT trying to avoid harm without clear boundaries causes them to loop around to be as prudish as the most dour Puritan. As a result, all but the most attractive, high-status men get excluded from opportunities for sex. On the Christian side, marital sex is good, BUT you also have to love your spouse unconditionally, even if they are unwilling or unable to meet your sexual needs. Most wives refuse to meet their husband’s needs. The only arrangement humans can live with, then, is to say that sexual pleasure doesn’t matter. To restrict sexual activity to the point where nobody has more sex than the least attractive people. To conceal sexual expression so that sex remains too vague to really want. That’s the only way men can live on the scraps women give them, and the only way women can be free from the pressure to satisfy men more than they want to. Yes sex is a pleasure made by God, but remember that the fallen world is tight-fisted with pleasure while readily dispensing pain. If we kill our appetite for pleasure, we will be immune to pain.

You're forgeting something here. When God bless Adam and Eve, He does so _before_ they fall into sin. Also, notice how hiw God do bless them and tell them to multiply but He never tells them how is this supposed to be done. Then you may ask: "Why would God need to tell them how to procreate?" Because they were pure and virgin. This state of purity and virginity is a superior (a more perfect) state compared to being carnally united to the other spouse. Purity and virginity is lost with sex, to say the obvious. The reality of Adam and Eve, before Orginal Sin, was a spiritual reality: they had what we lost, which is sanctity. God created everything _good_ and intended for things to *remain* good. So, the idea of losing virginity, even in wedlock, is not good because it implies the loss of two things very valuable in the eyes of God, again, virginity and purity. Back to the "God never told them how to procreate" argument, can you imagine the only way in which they could do that? Have you ever seen or heard of an example? Yes, you can, unless you're acting in bad faith or you never read the bible before. The only way a couple could have offspring keeping purity and virginity (not to mention sanctity) is by God's Grace. Oh, but we lost it when our first parents sinned! Instead of depending and waiting on the Will and Grace of God to multiply over the face of the earth, what did we do? We became masters of ourselves, didn't we? No we're stuck in the carnal way of procreation, which by the way, was always there, never to be mentioned because living by the spirit is a more perfect way than living by the flesh. We were suposed to have children when and only when God blessed us to do so, which is a very pleasing sacrifice: the sacrifice of the will to God. The carnal union is so bad that when we are conceived as result of if we are spiritually dead. What happens when someone dies unbaptized? No salvation for him. Have you ever asked why do we need to be baptized? Yes, so that we are brought to life again, spiritually. If sex is this good, why does it cause the baby to be spiritually dead? Why can't we get rid of Original Sin, even after Our Lord Jesus have died on the Cross to save us? Well, because carnal sex is, again, carnal, not spiritual. Sex is not a gift of Divine Grace, but is the thing that is left when Grace is lost. Can we get it back? You can try to deserve it, but in case you don't know, there is only one couple who gained the merit to conceive a child by Grace and not by carnal sex. Can you guess what couple is this? I'll give you a hint: it was not Joseph and Mary.

Does God exist? What is the point of explaining to an atheist if God is physical or not physical if they don't accept God exists? It's like debating with an atheist if Jesus Christ resurrected when the debate if God exists has not been settled yet. It's like teaching a baby who doesn't walk yet how to run. For an atheist the only debate that should matter is "was the universe created from an intelligent entity?". For the moment who or what is this God doesn’t matter. For the moment what matters is to establish with arguments if God exists or not. Atheism is the belief that all reality is created or caused, and that's why atheists remark "who created god?". For atheists intelligence is created from non intelligence. Is atheism the truth? Is reality how atheists say it is? Bear in mind I am talking about the debate atheists avoid because they don't have any arguments. To understand God exists you have to understand reality is eternal because from nothing can not be created something. Nothing is absence of existence. Nothing is what innocent and vulnerable children understand by nothing. Something minus something is nothing. Nothing is what you get explaining to deaf ears. Nothing is what you receive when you give to ungrateful people. You have one apple you eat one apple and you have nothing. Something always existed. Do you accept reality is eternal? If you don't accept reality is eternal unfortunately the debate ends here because there is no point in trying to persuade you that that something that is eternal is God. Creation is what has a beginning of existence, like for example you, you didn't exist before you were born. Either what has a beginning of existence is eternal or what created what has a beginning of existence is eternal. Either the universe is eternal or God is eternal. To understand God exists you have to understand it is better for you if God exists because for atheists life lacks an ultimate purpose and death is terrifying. Atheism is a logical fallacy that assumes God is the religious idea of the creator of the creation to conclude wrongly no creator exists because a particular idea of God doesn’t exist. To end the war the discovery that atheism is a logical fallacy has to be news. Thank you.

The Bible is so simple, that a little child can understand it. If the Sheep are fed the Truth, they are healthy and well, they bring Heaven down and there is no more suffering for anyone. Jeremiah 1:5, John 20:21, Jesus's children were sent to earth from Heaven as a gift "grace" to the world. So, why do church leaders knowingly choose lies which lead to suffering, death and hell on earth? Call no one teacher; beware the Pharisees. There is a huge difference between people suffering and dying because they've been lied to by the church leaders vs. people suffering and dying because they refuse to accept the Truth. One major difference, is that those who have been lied to, return after they die, to unleash vengeance on the earth, through plagues, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, tornadoes, disease and famine. Leave these churches and "Christian" KZbinrs , for your own safety, your families, and the world.

No. We haven't filled up the Earth. Not even close. There are still plenty of areas around the world where there's greenery and such. What we do have are areas, like big cities, that are overpopulated. With all the tall buildings, I'm not surprised. And if you're asking whether we should care, look at what happened to China with their silly little one child policy.

@mattslater2603 Here's the true story, bruh, in all its ridiculous awesomeness: ‭‭Numbers 22:21-34 NLT‬‬ So the next morning, Balaam got up, saddled his donkey, and started off with the Moabite officials. But God was angry that Balaam was going, so he sent the angel of the Lord to stand in the road to block his way. As Balaam and two servants were riding along, Balaam’s donkey saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road with a drawn sword in his hand. The donkey bolted off the road into a field, but Balaam beat it and turned it back onto the road. Then the angel of the Lord stood at a place where the road narrowed between two vineyard walls. When the donkey saw the angel of the Lord, it tried to squeeze by and crushed Balaam’s foot against the wall. So Balaam beat the donkey again. Then the angel of the Lord moved farther down the road and stood in a place too narrow for the donkey to get by at all. This time when the donkey saw the angel, it lay down under Balaam. In a fit of rage Balaam beat the animal again with his staff. Then the Lord gave the donkey the ability to speak. “What have I done to you that deserves your beating me three times?” it asked Balaam. “You have made me look like a fool!” Balaam shouted. “If I had a sword with me, I would kill you!” “But I am the same donkey you have ridden all your life,” the donkey answered. “Have I ever done anything like this before?” “No,” Balaam admitted. Then the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the roadway with a drawn sword in his hand. Balaam bowed his head and fell face down on the ground before him. “Why did you beat your donkey those three times?” the angel of the Lord demanded. “Look, I have come to block your way because you are stubbornly resisting me. Three times the donkey saw me and shied away; otherwise, I would certainly have killed you by now and spared the donkey.” Then Balaam confessed to the angel of the Lord, “I have sinned. I didn’t realize you were standing in the road to block my way. I will return home if you are against my going.” Love it!

What Christians get wrong: 1.) No sex before marriage - you can end up with an incompatible partner, and it heavily motivates people to hastily get married, leading to unhappy marriages and divorces 2.) Abstinance only sex education - doesn't prepare people for anything 3.) It's only for procreation - it is an amazing bonding experience with your partner

If your going to do it right, cover ALL the bases. God commands us to be fruitful and multiply, and yet that's not how the savior was born. Because of psalms 51:5. We are not created by God directly. Made in sin, commanded by God? Your saying God commanded us to be made in sin? That makes zero sense. Were born with a nature of sin until we come to Christ, For we all have fallen short(Romans 3:23-24). But by His loving grace, we are redeemed through Him if we repent. We may have shortcomings, but all the more to continue striving after God. Sin and shortcomings are seperate things, the difference is that shortcomings are mistakes, things that are not intentional whereas sin is directly and deliberately violating God's commands.
