She does a better job than I am (recently started doing this) but I noticed that professionals at the ‘jerk’ phase, go deeper and then explode with a tiny jump, and during that jump make their stance wider.

Always hard to look at professionals and apply it to the general population. The more advanced the athlete, the more the skill is tweaked to individual needs.

theres like zero time under tension on the jerk... this has to be for strength only and not hypertrophy right?
@ciarantolan8898 жыл бұрын
This is actually more of building skill and explosiveness than strength or muscle. The aim is to complete the lift not to gain strength or muscle. Hope this helped
@JohnnyBlackseed8 жыл бұрын
+Rick James-Bitche Seems you do not understand the purpose of Olympics lifts. They are THE lifts to build speed and power for any athlete, CrossFit or not. Strength and hypertrophy are not as important as being able to move such a large weight in a very small amount of time.
@neumei6268 жыл бұрын
+Asterik thanks... i actually thought training for strength was basically 1-3 reps... i hadnt even considered anything
@JohnnyBlackseed8 жыл бұрын
+Rick James-Bitche Going at your max wouldn't be beneficial at all which is why Oly training consists of tons of variations and breakdowns of the movements for reps. Just focusing on the second pull (the part where she thrusts her hips and leaves the ground lightly) but not actually catching the bar or simply heavy front squats for rep will supplement the lift. Don't think that all they do is CnJ or Snatches all day cause that be incredibly inefficient. Since the lift is so technical and requires perfect execution at higher weights, it is detrimental to do more than 3-4 heavy reps because you get tired and then your form breaks down rapidly. Of course most elite Oly lifters are really small for the ridiculous amount of weight they throw around since you don't need huge muscles to be powerful, just able to recruit all of your fast twitch fibres at once very quickly. Guys like Dmitry Klokov do traditional strength training exercises in addition to his Oly training which is why his physique is amazing. Hopefully this cleared some things up for you!

@chthre10 жыл бұрын
Tbf she's a great lifter and her dad is a great coach but I think the better cue would be to get the shoulders over a touch more at the start. Consciously pulling the knees back often results in the hips coming up too much and leaving the bar in front etc.

@ericjaber3578 жыл бұрын
where do you see a push press? I see a power jerk, she is clearly driving her self under with a "re-dip". just because you don't see a traditional split jerk dosent mean it's not a jerk.
@Lorryslorryss8 жыл бұрын
Fine, it's a half assed clean and a half assed squat jerk. I imagine that's because she plans to do as many of them as dangerously as possible. She can clearly lift 40kg with her arms (they look like 10s) I doubt this training session is even worthwhile for the purposes of training extension during the clean (the thing power cleans are good for).

This is why so many people are not successful in fitness. You are giving instructions as if everyone is cut from the same cloth. It's overcomplicated and intimidating to people. Also she gets just as good of a workout, with the same ergonomic benefit with her SLIGHTLY different movement. Anyone who is reading this, dont let things get overcomplicated. Move and be safe for you.
@jgreystoke11 жыл бұрын
Jerk is when you use a leg drive to get the bar overhead.....without a press out. If there is a press out it is a push press. Since the bar is caught in a slight squat receiving position overhead, it could be qualified with the title push jerk or power jerk. Who cares? It is still a jerk if there is no press out. Most Weightlifters catch the bar overhead in a split, but some use a squat these days. Not an issue at all.
@kelseyshenton94188 жыл бұрын

+Argyn Kuketayev well clearly this is why she didn't win. her coaching is just awful. you don't pull the bar back. your knees naturally move out the the way. If the girl had her feet in the right place and set up correctly before the pull. and you never pull with your arms. try pulling 300lbs with your arms see how far you get.

This is the only time I’ve seen a CrossFit video that had decent information. The only part she got wrong was about the knees; instead of trying to pull them back out of the way during the pull, you should start with the knees flared out, the way Olympic lifters do it (you know, the right way.)
