My ex girlfriend of Four years was a coach at a CrossFit gym and I’m certain she was fucking around. I’ve heard this rumor several times on other podcast about CrossFit gyms. My ex was ranked pretty high worldwide in her weight class and Age. I always suspected for messing around with people at her gym because of how she acted.

The adultery is rife in the fitness industry full stop. People dating within CrossFit is common you already know them better from the gym and I found you get to know people much better. I have not cheated but also didn’t date within the same gym - don’t 💩 where you train
@sportybeth Жыл бұрын
Yeah super common. Haha that’s smart. Took me a while to learn that 😂 swore off crossfitters completely in the end haha
@smsweeney1303 Жыл бұрын
@@sportybeth honestly the boxes were fairly close but was just easier dating within CrossFit while being dedicated to it before that I was always accused about lying where I was 😂

I do adaptive CrossFit and my coach said he ran into something like this. He said before he got with his long term girlfriend (who is also a member at the same gym), he ran into an issue because he was 25-26, hooking up with girls but then never going anywhere past that stage and then you show up each week and they are there. So everything you reported I fully believe. I mean everyone is hot, at your strongest and spending a ton of time together. It just makes sense.
@sportybeth Жыл бұрын
Haha yeah so when I was in my 20s and single it was just super common it does just make sense sometimes especially with members. Makes things quite awkward sometimes though. I think the problems really arise when it’s a coach, owner or when they’re in a relationship

Woow this is such an interesting topic. I had no idea this stuff went down!
@sportybeth Жыл бұрын
It definitely doesn’t in some gyms but in others it seems to be part of the culture. It’s an interesting phenomenon

CrossFit HQ can’t police the policies in a private business. Whenever there’s a community this happens

I don't know of any of this going on at my gym unless people are quiet about it. We had 1 couple that had a nasty breakup so the girl left. I heard he cheated on her (they were just dating, not married) but idk if that was true. Eventually the guy turned his life around and met another girl who was honestly super sweet!

As far as i know. Nothing like this is going on at my gym, but i haven't been going very long.

I wouldn't even know how to get to sleep with people in my gym, sot that must say a lot about me XD Except from the fact that I am happy with my boyfriend, but really, I just go for myself and don't really have occasions where I could flirt or whatever... Idk

This is pure click bait. This isn't a CrossFit thing, this is a crappy people thing. I've been a coach and member in five different boxes, and I've never seen any of this. Not saying it doesn't happen, just saying I've haven't seen this in my five years of coaching/membership in the industry.

This is not a cross fit specific issue. Cheating predates cross fit I believe. But I do think the whole cheating problem would be less of an issue if monogamy wasn't the norm. People could explore other forms of relating like ethical non monogamy for instance. Although cheating can still occur in non monogamous relationships, however a lot of people aren't happy in monogamous relationships and that would significantly be reduced if other relationships were seen as legitimate as monogamy.
@sportybeth Жыл бұрын
Yeah no one is saying CrossFit invented cheating haha, but I agree with you, people would definitely benefit if ethical non monogamy and polyamory were more widely accepted. It’s totally valid to not be happy in a monogamous relationship. If we look deeper into it though there’s a whole culture of these “alpha males” on one hand saying they want to be in a monogamous relationship with a women with a “low body count” and also preach that it’s “natural for men to cheat”. There’s so much toxic bs out there surrounding relationships she there are lots of cultural and societal norms at play in many cases. Ethical Non-monogamy/poly is totally fine but these cases in my personal experience and these descriptions aren’t that unfortunately. The world is changing. Maybe it will be eventually

@@sportybeth Most guys I know do not think it's cool to sleep around. Having a good relationship and a family is celebrated among pretty much all guys I know. (most friends are around 30 yo and dutch) These so called ' alpha males' who like to sleep around don't care about body count, the men who do usually just want a stable relationship to build a family.
