There is nothing to fix. You factory setup moved to allow turning and so does your new steering kit. It has to do this to allow turning and articulation going over bumps.

Would I get death wobble before getting an alignment done? Even if I get it line up as close as you can with out using an alignment tool.
@Steinjager
@Steinjager 4 жыл бұрын
Installing a new component should not be the source of death wobble....if you have everything tight on the new component. If you bought the kit and installed it but you have death wobble now, most likely you have one of two things going on. 1- you had multiple loose steering components prior to installation and they masked each other. All the 'looseness' is not transferring to the other loose component that hasn't been replaced 2- You don't have all the jam nuts or bolts tight on the new kit.

I have a 2006 tj with the stock front steering arm and drag link I put this kit on last night drove my jeep to work this morning now I have a case of the death wobble. Never had any problems before this product. Any info on what it could be?
@Steinjager
@Steinjager 5 жыл бұрын
Good morning James. The most common cause of death wobble (and nearly the only cause) is a loose steering or suspension component. For technical support please contact us at LWC@steinjager.com. What we would like you to do first though, check to make sure all of the jam nuts are tight on the kit. If they are tight, do a thorough check of your ball joints and tie rod ends. There is a chance that there were enough worn components on your Jeep that putting a solid steering system on it revealed a problem

@Steinjager
@Steinjager 5 жыл бұрын
First off, thank you for choosing our kit. It's much appreciated. As for the stabilizer, it's personal preference. In the shop we have one with and without. We lean towards liking to run one on the road and our wheeling rig doesn't have one. If you are thinking you would like to run one, we offer a bracket for it as well that is fairly inexpensive.

@Freedomquest08
@Freedomquest08 3 жыл бұрын
Same question (93 ZJ limited). ^ I know your post is dated, but it's still an unanswered question. Far as I can tell it would fit the same as it would fit an XJ. I've been researching other kits too and most say 4.0 only on the ZJ kits. What does that even mean?!...same front end. All I know is this death wobbling scissor action Y type steering on my ZJ has to go...or my rig can go find a new owner. I like the design of this kit as the angles of the steering components are about as on plane as it's gonna get for a lifted Jeep.

@@Freedomquest08 i have it on my zj now. I also had death wobble. Found out my death wobble was caused by bent lower control arm bracket
@Freedomquest08
@Freedomquest08 3 жыл бұрын
@@anthonysawyers5525 Good to know it fits before spending $300. I think my death wobble is down to steering linkage. I have replaced ball joints, tires, shocks, all of the bushings front and rear, switched my aftermarket lower control arms back to the factory arms, even took the 4" lift off briefly just see if caster was playing a role, etc. A new steering stabilizer helped a lot, and the wobble hasn't really come back but it still wants to do it. It has shaken so violently that it broke an ear off the steering box, so replaced that too. I do notice a little play in my Rt outer tie rod end now, so time to throw this steering setup in the metal bin and try something better. I know the Y steering is doing a scissor action thing once a bump sets it off. Other than that it's been a decent rig, and these are very impressive off road.

How do I get the cross bars to stay tight? I tighten both end nuts and my cross bar i can twist
@Steinjager
@Steinjager 4 жыл бұрын
This is how your factory setup worked and this is how the rod ends work on your new setup. They have to move to allow for turning and articulation. Everything sounds like it is working as intended on your setup. If you want the bars to not point at the ground, raise the bar up and move the rod ends to point down then tighten the jam nuts. Both rod ends should be in the same plane once both jam nuts are tight.
@xxprogam3r12

Steinjager so the bar is always suppose to stay loose? The drag link bar and tie rod bar just flop up and down moving it by hand and didn’t stay tight at all
@Steinjager
@Steinjager 4 жыл бұрын
@@xxprogam3r12 Yes. That is how the factory steering was as well. You just have more weight out front now and notice it. You should adjust them so they don't contact each other but it will move. It has to or you couldn't turn or flex your suspension.

@Steinjager
@Steinjager 5 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. Death wobble is typically caused by a loose steering or suspension component. If you have loose tie rod ends, this may fix it. If you ball joints are shot, this will not fix it. Diagnosing the root cause of your death wobble should be the first step before throwing parts at it.
