Steinjager crossover steering Jeep TJ

Replacing my old "Y" type steering for the Steinjager crossover steering kit. This thing is heavy duty. The bars are 1.5" with hime joints. You do need to drill your knuckles and pitman, but that isn't to hard. Even with the steering stabilizer needing to be cut off and replaced Matt and I got this done in about 4 hours.
Adam from Steinjager provided the Torque specs, they are at 13:28, and they are all in foot pounds. Check out Steinjager page for other videos. They also have an amazing catalog.

Its been a year since I installed it. It is listed in the instructions. I also think its listed on their web site. I bought 2, just in case I broke one. but one was enough. The local big box hardware store had it in stock.

Relocate is for if you want to use the stabilizer shocks. Steinjager says you don't have to use a stabilizer.

I am running 33x12.50 15's on a 15" aftermarket wheel. I believe the backspacing is 3.5" No I do not have any rubbing that I have noticed.

Unfortunately I have not had it off road yet, However I do like it, and would do it again. I wish they would make it easier to adjust though. My steering wheel is slightly off, and adjusting the end link a 1/2 turn puts the steering wheel off the same amount in the opposite direction. O-well, a small price to pay for extra strength.

How dose it handle the road now, and how did you get the up and down travel out of the links?

@@traviscram1364 it handles on the road great. I assume you are asking about the twist that is present due to the rod ends. We set the rod where we wanted it and adjusted the ends (one up one down) to prevent the twist. I can make a video if you would like.

I spoke with Steinjager and was told the heim joints needed to be pointed the same direction, and that arm movement is normal. I did a follow up video showing it. Check it out, it premieres Friday

I'm at work today, I'll make a short video this weekend. I remember when we installed this I centered the arm on the joints, and it "flooped" around. To fix that I clocked one joint back and the other forward...that keeps the arm tight.

scottoffroad I will try clocking one joint front and one joint back today but it seems every time I do that it becomes loose again. Maybe if I tighten the end nuts tighter? it won’t allow it to come loose again when I turn my steering wheel?

I wanted to talk to Stienjager before I made a follow up video. I was able to talk to Adam today and he confirmed my thoughts on clocking the heim joints. Matt and I are getting ready for a short trip, and will take some time to get a follow up video made. Until then, Adam from Steinjager, stated that he has been getting a lot of calls about the arms twisting. He stated that you need to have one person hold the arm where you want it. A second person needs to clock the heim and tighten it. If you clock it to 3 0'clock, then the other side also needs to be clocked to 3 O'clock (remember that they are on opposite sides so they will be clocked opposite of each other.)
