I'm trying to rehab a shoulder and I'm using my Bodylastics bands, anchored to a strap on a post (so I'm using both ends of a single band instead of two separate -- and separated -- bands). My set has 7 pairs of bands, so I have a wide range of resistances. So far it seems to be working well. I'm assuming that the theory, particularly when rehabing, is two-fold: 1) that light resistance tends to leave the stronger delts out of it and recruits more rotator cuff muscles, and 2) that injured muscles and tendons actually heal faster when used (lightly and carefully) than when they are (as your instinct when injured might dictate) just left entirely dormant. Good video, and I've incorporated some of these moves into my self-help routine.

How are those Bodylastics bands holding up? I'm trying to decide between those and FitCord or Stroops? I called FitCord and they actually answered and were making the bands right here in the USA.

@@707SonomaComa I'm not familiar with FitCord, but my Bodylastics bands are still working well and I also have some Stroops bands (which are the covered type and also with a carabiner at each end) and I like those, too. The Bodylastics ones have the advantage of going from very light to extremely heavy (sometimes you need a lighter band) and the Stroops ones have the advantage of being durable due to being contained in a cover, and I prefer those when attached to a stick of some kind - like a TRX Rip Trainer or a Purmotion Core12 12-inch stick that allows you to hook a cord on each end to do things like Wood Choppers for abs. I sometimes hook a band around a pole and do Face Pulls and I'll use either the Bodylastics or the Stroops (or my TRX Rip Trainer cords, which are also the covered type but with loops rather than carabiners at the ends) for that. If I want to work light, I'll choose a light Bodylastics band. (Bodylastics bands, by the way, have a lifetime warranty. First year free, after that, if one breaks, you go on their website, upload a photo of the broken band, and order a new one for just $5.95 plus tax, free shipping - about $6.50 total. I've replaced quite a few of the lighter ones that way, never had a heavy one break.)

Great explanations thank you!

It looks like some exercises can be done without crossing the bands. Would it matter if they were not?

So, is this system good for shoulder surgery rehab? I had rotator cuff surgery, full tear. Thanks for great video.

What muscles are actually being worked here, besides that "bottom of the shoulder blades" muscle? Do the exercises strengthen muscles within the shoulder, as well, or is the point just activation of the range of shoulder motion PLUS a better anchored shoulder owing to a stronger upper/middle back?
