I'm a seasoned Elvis fan, seen him in concert, was more than heartbroken when he died. What most folks today don't know about him is how much he loved Rhythm & Blues & how he loved playing the bass guitar, & yes, he most certainly was more than good at it! If you listen to his recordings in the studio & his private recordings, he gets down & dirty. Elvis should've recorded more blues songs as he was sooo good. Even in some of his Gospel songs, he really goes all in. Yes, even some Christmas songs, he really lays on his blues. Due to the times & R C A including his manager & others, they simply would cut these out. After he recorded, someone would actually go in & clean it up without his knowledge. Stuff that angered Elvis. He didn't like anyone messing with his music, music he produced but unfortunately many times, he would hear it on the radio and it would be 'cleaned' up. Elvis was born dirt poor on ol Saltillo Rd in East Tupelo, his father was sent to prison when Elvis was very young, they lost their shotgun home & his Mama worked as a sharecropper and brought her baby boy with & he heard the songs & music in those fields. His Mama stomp danced & played harmonica. Soon enough, the Presley Family moved from Tupelo to Memphis. Elvis was truly soaking up every sound, every song he heard. He really loved old spiritual songs. Many singers both black & white said he knew more songs than anyone around, stuff they never heard, Elvis knew them all & often went into these songs in between recordings or after performing onstage, he went on for hours singing in his suite with a private audience along with other singers. Elvis truly was music! It was deep in his soul, spirit & heart. Folks today only know Elvis from what sensationalized tabloids have dictated. As we all know too well, dirt sells especially when it's lies. Look at the current headlines, sometimes those lies have to pay big bucks. Through it all, Elvis' legacy has more than survived & continues on & always will. Elvis has the most comforting voice ever & his songs make folks happy, help them on their days of despair. Elvis was someone who was full of love. He always wanted to make others happy, he continues to do this today. Thank You for your version of our guy, Elvis' song of Trouble, a song from his film 'King Creole.' Later, incorporated it into his 1968 Special ELVIS.
