Crowder’s LOSING IT

Steven Crowder delivers a bizarre, rambling rant about how he thinks right-wingers have been caving on social issues, starting with the debate over civil unions vs. marriage for same sex couples, and now with issues surrounding trans people.
He grows frustrated with the fact that he's even started calling "sex changes for kids" "gender affirming care" and that no one punched him in the face for using that terminology seriously.
Crowder suggests that going forward everyone be more vigilant where they hear language like that and stop allowing people to use it. He also says that, because of how extreme the left has become, it's okay for people on the right to become extremists Too.

My step daughter is trans. Before the doctor would prescribe ANY hormone therapy she had to be psychologicaly examined, go to counseling and run tests. "He" had very high estrogen levels naturally it turns out. Still had to wait a minimum of 2 years before any surgical altercations could take place. "He" was a very angry, frustated boy. "She" is a much more balanced woman. There are no definate lines on anyones gender, your feeling someone should be as they were born does not matter. Each individual must live their own life, you live yours. Everyone and everything would be better if you accept individuals as they are. She is the bravest person i know to face the world on her terms, not yours. The hate that is being spread and the hate she faces is unjust. Please stop hating.

As for my own personal experience: I was 30 when I started hormones, and even my mom mentioned to relatives "I've got my child back". That's how powerful hormone treatment can be. (And sometimes, when I hear people saying that doctors "love to have a patient like this" I'm like "No they don't, all general practitioners I've had were curious but were all worried about my environment being unsupportive, or asked how hormones were for me (a very bumpy, hellish nightmare of a road for me personally) because they are not rooting for having a patient like that, they are more concerned someone goes through such a thing in a hostile environment...)

Wrong Crowder. Marriage is not a "religious institution." A couple can have as many ceremonies in a church with a man in a dress mumbling something and waving his hands over the couple all day every day. It doesn't matter. What DOES matter is the marriage certificate the couple needs from the state. A marriage is not legal without it. A couple can get married in a court house and not go anywhere near a church and the marriage is just as legal. Also, how holy can a ceremony be when ANYONE can go online and receive a certificate allowing them to officially marry people? Marriage does not require any religion to be recognized or legal.

It depends on the state but honestly you can have a religious wedding and no other procedure is requiered (other than registration). In that sense it is a religious institution. While I would use those pronouns, it's also fair to allow people not to use them. Just like someone wants to be called Bob, instead of Robert... people should be free to even call him Kyle, if they feel like it. This should is a matter of interpersonal politeness, to be settled between individuals as they see fit, not a matter of law. People shouldn't get fined or jailed or punished by the state in any way for using or not using specific pronouns. And sure, the polite thing to do is to use them, but you can't/shouldn't legally enforce politeness.

I literally even saw someone saying "But then there's a medical reason!" and I tried to ask them why the supposed "experimental, dangerous," nature of those drugs suddenly vanishes in those applications and they just couldn't answer it. It was so incredibly obvious they just wanted to hate without having to be pressed to think about why they are hating when someone points out that the exact same drugs are involved (and along with that: children experiencing precocious puberty being listed as the first patient group to be treated with the type of drug in the enclosed receipt).

Because of a mutual hobby, I got to know a US-internet friend (he was about to visit my country but then the pandemic happened...so yea) back in the year 2000 and we still speak to this day. I can still recall the time he asked "How do you guys do the lockdown drill?" and I had to ask him what he meant with that, "You know, when some guy goes around the school pretending to be the bad guy?" and I still wasn't getting it (I live in The Netherlands). Fairly sure that Stephen Crowder found a piece somewhere on children precocious puberty and lacked the reading comprehension to understand that such a child is not trans per se (I mean it theoretically could but the chance would be small) but only saw the drug named and went "YOU SEE!! IT'S TRUE!!!" He would for sure weaponize something like that to shame the transgender community as a whole with it... Can I ask sort of a personal/invasive question about something I have been unable to find information on (and might differ between countries since I'm in The Netherlands): Do puberty blockers cease to being administered when cross-sex hormone treatment starts or are they slowly lowered in dosage? (I take it this might also differ between boy-girl and girl-boy transchildren). I have been in the waiting room of the gender clinic sometimes during the day on which they treat and see mostly children (I had a form of surgery in 2020 that didn't go as planned and have been checked a bit more than usually is the case) and most of the children are indistinguishable from their cis-gender sisters and brothers... I seriously don't get why there are people who want to take that away from some children...

The California bill is a great one. I grew up gay in Florida in the 90’s and it’s like it’s happening all over again. I was outed by a friend when I was 12 and got sent to a conversion therapy camp _that the school recommended to my parents._ While I was there, a girl was told she was being sent back to her abusive parents for bad behavior, and that night she snuck off the grounds and jumped out into moving traffic and was killed by a truck. And another boy tried to hang himself from a ceiling fan, but the fan fell off the ceiling and the camp billed his parents for destruction of property. Totally legal to abuse kids if you so much as _suspect_ that they’re gay. Legally, that camp had zero blood on their hands. That camp was seen as a legit medical facility. Despite it actually being a church. Literally the “therapy” was done in a church. The California bill makes it illegal to abuse trans kids for being trans. It recognizes that parental abuse of a child can be motivated by the parents’ transphobia, and grants child protection services the right to intervene if a trans child is being abused. Having those children removed from their homes would only be allowed with overwhelming proof that that child is in immediate physical danger at the hands of their parents. It’s a good thing. The whole country should have to obey that law.

Can recall the story about the state in which they tried or actually imposed legislation that would allow anyone to file a complaint with parents, teachers or basically anyone being supportive of a trans child to have the parents be put out of custody, and having a news channel reach out to a children's protection agency (I think a government run organisation, even). They explicitly stated: "We are not going to participate in these complaints when we believe that not only these measures will cause actual harm to children, but also when actual physical or mental abuse is happened to children we can't reach due to insufficient government funding. We feel there are more pressing cases that we can better solve if we don't deal with overreaching people trying to intervene in the upbringing of a transchild." That was nice to read, seeing a government organisation giving state-level legislation a middle finger for basically saying "Shove that up somewhere where the sun doesn't shine because we have to combat actual child abuse and are underfunded for even doing that." (And with that, basically also showing how little the Republicans care about protecting children if they didn't fund that organisation properly...)
