This is simply riveting. Every time I hear Cheryl and Emmy I’m blown away. They are incredible together and Levon just adds so much more richness to this song. Pure brilliance.

Sometimes a performance just captures the heart of a song. All 3 provide performances that sum to be greater than their parts. Something electric about this. Wonderful.

I do Jonathan. It is amazing to watch this. Just incredible! One of the most hauntingly great songs ever. And first done by the band with Emmylou as part of the Last Waltz. The song was less than 24 hours old when they first did it. Seeing Levon and Emmylou doing it here with Sheryl here is special to say the least
@jonathanpasch66044 жыл бұрын
@@johnporio EVERYONE who participated in The Last Waltz had their A game on that night. Scorsese was a lucky witness more than anything. He sure did a good job capturing that night though. I haven't heard the Evangeline story before but I don't doubt it for a second. (I fast forwarded through alot of the interviews and haven't watched it in a while. Was that story in there? I can't remember?)

unbelievable , so I first heard this in the movie The last Waltz when Emmylou sang it with the Band and now ( in 2020) to see that it was recorded again with Sheryl just makes me feel ecstatic,, because I fell in love with Sheryl when she first hit in 1994 so 26 years later, I am soo happy

Levon Helm the legend. Sleep well. Altough I never met the man I always considered him a friend. This clip shows how great a man he was not just to us who listened but also to those who played. To share a stege or a studio with Emmylou Harris has to be the greatest of pleasures. The godess that is Sheryl Crow is a progression through the ages.. Sublime.

I remembered this version while I was remembering Levon. Great version and take on the classic. I first saw Sheryl when she was at the University of Missouri and we were all listening to Uncle Tupelo (and its many off shoots). I knew she was going to be great. Hoever, like like her friend Emmylou she has gotten more beautiful as she had gotten older. In a couple of years she may be striking people blind when they look at her.

I am not aware of anybody becoming a major talent in the music industry from the getgo, are you? If you really think about they can be a sensation, a one hit wonder, but even a child prodigy, but a major talent requires sustained sucess over a period of time. As the saying goes people will have needed t. o pay their dues in.order to become that major jj ?
