In 1977, when I was 7 years old, both the Eli Bridge ferris wheel and that rocket ship swing ride at 13:13 were still in operation, and I rode both, numerous times! Thanks for sparking such special memories with your 1950s footage!

Great old film. Many things in Rye Playland still look familiar. I would like to see some of the lost rides and attractions recreated. The "Airplane" Coaster would be one of them.

alterman156 Absolutely ! I’ve bin saying that for years ! They should have never taken out the original rides, that what made Playland great . Rides they should bring back... Over the Top, Roco - Planes , The Monster Mouse, The original bumper-cars, The Turtle Chase , The Twister , the old Laugh in the dark ride, the house of mirrors, The Tumbler . Every time when they take away an original ride, it takes away from the park and that’s why Westchester County is losing money

What a fantastic video. Nice color images of THE MAGIC CARPET and animals featured at Playland's small circus. You would never see lions and bears at the park today with all our current laws we have. The film quality was excellent. I'd like to see more of your videos if you have any. You might find my Playland videos interesting too.

I hate seeing animals at circuses. It's abusive.

The Areoplane coaster....people still talk about it and it's been gone for 72 years.....should have never removed it. It would be a national landmark today.

Is there a way to get a snapshot of the Silver Rockets from this video. My heart just melts seeing them the way I remember them. Thank you for posting this. I wish I had a snapshot of them.
