My father sees the commercials on TV for cruises and he shakes his head. He told me he can't imagine taking a voyage with a few thousand civilians who have no clue how to put on a life vest or get into a life boat. My father was a Navy vet who took a very long cruise from '44-'53. He did take Cunard and the Italian Line in the 30s and after his days in the Navy during the 50s and early 60s on the Queen Elizabeth, and Queen Mary. Those were luxury liners. Even people in 3rd Class/Tourist behaved behaved back then not like the Thunderdome of today. Civility is gone because it's considered "Western" and "White". Today it's "Thug Class".

Your father couldn’t be more wrong. As a vet, he has the complete wrong interpretation of cruises. If he’s never been on one recently, he honestly has no place to talk about them because they’ve changed quite substantially. Most of the videos you see of people acting like fools are on the cheaper cruises where you’re paying 300-400 a ticket. If you don’t want to be around that kind of crowd, you have to pay for ships like Wonder of The Seas or Mardi Gras. If you pay cheap, you get a cheap experience. These comments are honestly only projecting that most of you complainers have never even set foot on a cruise liner, and if you have you most likely paid for a cheap one which in that case don’t be surprised to be around a bunch of idiots.

I teach at an adult school in the "hood".... They're beyond help. I get students who roll into class 3 hours late and take their seat like it's a normal day. Some students will disappear for months at a time and then just show up one day like they're not an entire semester behind. They steal anything that's not nailed down and will damage your car or make false claims to the admin if they get mad at you.... and they ALWAYS get mad at you. I have to park right in front of my office so I can watch my car all day. One guy did absolutely nothing in my class, he took 5 days just to fill out his orientation paperwork when it usually takes 30 minutes. He would spend his day getting out of his seat and wandering around the classroom disrupting other students. He fairly REEKED of weed every day so I decided to have a meeting with him. All I told him was to leave the weed somewhere else as it wasn't allowed on school property and if he came in stinking of it again, I'd send him home. He stops coming in all together and the next thing I know is I'm being interviewed by school detectives about a "cash for diploma" scam I'm apparently running. I'm like "you guys can't be fucking serious...." and told them my side of the story. I ended up with a letter of exoneration but still... I wasn't racist before I became a teacher but I sure as hell am now. All it took was actually dealing with these "people".

I have an old acquaintance who used to work for an investigative unit on a particular cruise line. Their job was to investigate any crimes that were committed on the boats and work with local LE an FBI and minimize loss and responsibility to the cruise line. He passed a few years back after the Wuflu but he would always tell me an my wife to always avoid his company unless you were going on their higher end sister companies because of this B.S. It become a common theme rapes, smoking weed in the hallways, fights, burglaries almost every other cruise. Here in the US its usually the common denominator but even their cruises In Australia are having the same issues. Lowering prices and lay away plans has definitely had the affect of brining in more riffraff, if he were alive he could probably tell yah tons of fucked up stories about the things that happen on these boats and no one ever knows about it.

Being stuck on a plane with a bunch of animals that cant even keep their shoes on and do not know what a shower is for 2 hours is awful enough. Pre-2000s plane travel was tolerable. I think if I was stuck on one of these I would take my chances and as soon as we traced close to the shoreline would jump ship and swim for the coast. Ick.

If I saw this crowd boarding the ship I would tear up my ticket and go home. No way in hell am I voluntarily putting myself on a ship with that. It was a challenge to keep half of them in line on the ship in the Navy where there were actual consequences. I’m definitely not going to trust a couple flunky security guards to keep order.
