I do when the time is right, but IMO it must be very calculated with deer being able to smell and in hill country- the situation is most often not in the hunters favor. Another opinion of course.

Give your self some credit brother. I have been going deer hunting and been having the biggest deer I've seen on this property coming in early in the afternoon for a couple days and get all the way to where I park and realize I left my gun leaning on the back tire at the house. Well I ran it over but didn't hurt it, bit the buck came out at the same time and by the time I got back he was leaving.

Thermals have been giving you fits throughout this hunt. Sometimes the best places are unhuntable with a bow due to wind thermals. When people say “just hunt the wind” I usually just laugh. They obviously never hunted in hillbilly land.

That was an awesome hunt, but don’t be too hard on yourself Dave, if Turkeys could smell you wouldn’t be able to kill them either. You’ll get him. Bow hunting big white tail bucks is about 40% skill and 60% luck.
