That was just a bad agent you had! Booking cruises directly with cruise lines is fine, as long as everything goes smoothly. If you have a decent agent (with an emergency contact number), though, you will know agents can save you SO MUCH trouble-with trip interruptions (e.g., flight delays, lost baggage, etc.) and other irregularities b/c you won’t have to deal with the suppliers and, instead, your agent will take care of everything…incl. insurance claims! Also, many agents give you extra perks when you book cruises through them-like onboard credit or welcome champagne in the cabin. Also, with COVID, I was able to get a full refund for the canceled trip (cruise and air) through my agent promptly but my friends that booked directly have only been able to get credit for future use after spending hours…or days…trying to reach a customer service agent.

I had a problem with charges against my credit card once, that I didn't understand, and although I had already been on my trip, when I went to see the agent about it, they sorted it all out for me and got the charges reversed for me. Even then I had to go back three times, before it was actually resolved, but that was through no fault of the travel agent. I don't think I could have done this by myself .

Oooh I understand. I am a travel agent and have dealt with that same thing. Folks don't read or pay attention to the small print. You have to hand carry some of them and baby step them while others are so easy to deal with and make helping them a pleasure. That mystery person was WHO? The plaintiff had it together, the defendant was sketchy and didn't pay attention to the rules so the case didn't go her way. Sorry that the plaintiff had to turn her over to the cruiseweb and that he didn't get compensated for time he spent working with her.

and his email to Cruise web was so demeaning and unprofessional. He was the one who was difficult to deal with. There are now 10 000 000 people who now know he does this and how unprofessional he is, and are not likely to ever use him or his company.

I cruise often and there is always a penalty for cancelling a cruise after the 90 days count down. Then there is a percentage as time goes on with how much you will get returned.

There was a guy in Georgia on KZbin that was sued by a guy in Illinois for defamation. He hired a lawyer and they filed a motion to dismiss because of the physical distance made it an undo burden to travel for the court date. The court in Illinois agreed and the case was dismissed. Since the trial has to take place to determine if the defendant is liable there is a chance he isn't and the court won't compel someone in a small claims case to appear several hundred miles from home for that reason. The plaintiff could have filed in Georgia but that would require him to pay for travel and the same thing applies so the suit was just dropped. I would think the travel agent would have been afforded the same legal defense.

Whether or not the plaintiff is hard of hearing as a reason for his yelling is up the air. I do know given his demeanor that he must be a headache to deal with...

When I am booking travel, cancelation fees are one of the most important things that I want to know about. You never know what is going to happen in the future. She didn't read the fine print. Too bad, so sad. Both of them are annoying but the judge made the right decision.
@Vanessa_Martinez3 жыл бұрын
Agree with the judge ruling. Both of them are ridiculous. I can not believe she sued over 300$ that the other company discounted her. So technically she wasn't out an extra 300$. I believe old guy misspoke and didn't want to say he misspoke on deposit being refundable
@ABirdOnTheMoon2 жыл бұрын
Even if he did .. she signed a contract that says it’s not refundable. In this case, it’s only the agency which lost the deal. The guy made a mistake because he mostly was done with her. Also. Why the secrecy? She was off about the information needed and about booking it

Why on Earth do travel agents still exist? It's ridiculous at this point. Right or wrong all travel agents are grifters at this point.
