Where you see an 'S' or any other shape, there will also be one on the other side of the building, or bridge etc. They are connected by a metal bar that goes right the way through the structure, thus 'tying' the two braces together on either side, and preventing the walls from expanding outwards.

The s shape you see on brick work is this, An ogee arch is a type of arch characterized by its double-curved shape that forms an S-shape. This type of arch is typically found in Gothic Revival architecture, where it is used to create a sense of movement and fluidity in the design.

These metal plates, which often are shaped as an “S”, an “X” or a star, are called anchor plates (or wall anchors). They are often seen on the outside of old bricks homes and are used to help prevent walls from bowing outwards and collapsing.Dec 6, 2020

The S shape thingys are for stopping the walls from collapsing there's another S on the other side of bridge. Then there will be 3 metal rods that run the complete width of the bridge threaded at the ends then tightened to keep the walls upright 😎😎😎

Those metal ‘S’ are tie bars which literally hold the structure together else it could fall apart…same with the ones on cottages…anchoring the building together…xx

@@BoatTime There is a metal rod that is in the middle of the S that will go through the entire bridge to the other side where it is bolted to another S on the other side. It works like a clamp. There are also X shaped ones you might see on houses/bridges etc.

Hi Amy, can I ask which hair colour you use and if you have to bleach it first? Sorry to ask a random question that’s nothing to do with boats 😂

Hey, Of course its okay! Its just the superdrug 'colour freedom' in crimson red 😊 I bleached it a long time ago to get the initial base, but now all I do is top it up, I dont bleach it every time
