3:25 gold farmers can easily make more money from selling the gold they made from botting than it costed for the bot
@Cfergsthebest6 жыл бұрын
I think you missed talking about how much the farmers make. For example, when I was into farming about 3 years ago there were guys running dedicated servers running 100+ suicide bots (24 hours a day until banned) with mule bots. They'd make about 20 mil an hour between all the bots which would wholesale at that time you'd end up getting about $1.50 a mil. They were making $700/day. Quite a few were throwing numbers around above 10k a month around for profit after all loses and upkeep costs. One thing to note is these farmers would regularly have to switch methods because they would bottom out rs markets with how much they'd produce.
@Crumb6 жыл бұрын
Very interesting man! I think I'd love to make a video in the future about just bot farms, if I can get in touch with anyone that is. (:
@henz4566 жыл бұрын
Why did you stop?
@snoopunit6 жыл бұрын
This is false. Even by your own calculations, $1.50/M would equate to 467M/day botted. The only way that could possible be achieved is many dozens of accounts strictly botting end-game content. The rest of your math is also shit, as there's 30/31 days in a month and $700 a day times 30 days is way more than $10K; more like $21K. If those kind of figures were even conceivable, then the botting community wouldn't be in it's current lethargic state that it is today. There's also the fact that since RS3 and botwatch, there's no way any suicide botting would last more than a few days even with professional scripts.
@Cfergsthebest6 жыл бұрын
They aren't meant to last more than a day or so. They are running farms in excess of 100 bots simultaneously at times. $700/day is a great day not everyday. $10k month people were more common than $700 days. Also, this is from a past period. I don't know why you would try to over analyze a post on a subject you are clearly completely ignorant on.

I feel like if Jagex simply had literally 1 - 2 mods just on manual bot busting duty 24/7 (they could even be lower payed players that just really care about the game and would do it for minimum wage or whatever) they'd massively fix the issue. Not the "bot busting" stream thing where they take already banned bots and kill them for 2 hours, but actually just going to places like the east varrock bank bucket fountain bot swarm or the f2p karamja docks and banning bots that are obviously using the same name generator; or at least moving them to that purgatory world with no connected economy. (Example: Oh look, there's 45 accounts that are exactly level 8, all moving to the same fishing spot when there's multiple, all with 5 random letters as the first name then a space then 4 more random letters. Those are bots.) Like, surely dealing with a few angry emails and un-purgatorying a few players due to honest mistakes or crazy circumstantial mishaps is a way better solution than just letting the game economy crumble.

You're an absolute moron. They have to ensure that they are in fact bots.
@foolishkiwi45466 жыл бұрын
H Khurram They have a world they put a lot of the bots they're unsure about to test them (look at the osrs bot busting streams) where they can still play, but they're all contained in one world for obervation. A person will realize is something is up and react in some way when mods begin messing with them in weird ways, bots will not. "Ensuring they're bots" is something a person is quicker at than an algorithm, that's all I'm saying.
@juliandanforth57366 жыл бұрын
H Khurram Instant name calling makes you seem like the moron. It doesn't take a smart individual to look at a mob of 30 people with random letters for a name and the default appearance all trying to chop the same tree and conclude they are bots.

Foolish Kiwi and u are wrong. Go look at the figures about bans per day. Humans cannot keep up with the system especially considerring % of false bans.
@SassyOnline6 жыл бұрын
Private scripts definitely decrease ban rates from hours to ban to no ban at all in a decent amount of cases but obviously if you're in top 5 botting it's likely you will be banned. Knowing the language is just the start, the writer of a script can really define how good a script is. Awesome video for people who don't know any of this kind of stuff, I will admit writing your own scripts highly decreases ban rates.

So just thought to put it out there, you could ask what a bot can do, but then instead, why not just ask what a bot can't do? Because currently thinking about it, I really can't. in the end, a bot can do anything a player can and if you give it enough info to work with. Now that I think about it a little more, what comes to mind is the two deepmind A.I, AlphaGo and another one for a different game. They exist. AlphaGo, being a chess bot A.I, taught itself chess in under a day. Sure, that's a massive massive million dollar A.I but in the end, it's there, it's the single best thing at chess. So, how long would it take that sort of a bot to learn runescape? more importantly, would it get caught? And obviousely, I understand that a deepmind A.I is not exactly a bot, though they still run off script. and it is getting a bit off point now, but would that deepmind A.I learn to reply to other players too? would it work out ways to do things faster than before? would it understand how to do quests? God, this is completely off topic, but if i'm being honest, I'm actually rather interested now too..

Runescape has way more possible tasks to do than games like Chess, Go or even Mario. Usually those types of AIs are given a simple goal, such as "win" or "don't lose" and then basically blindly experiment with controls or moves until that goal is completed or maintained. If you gave it a single task in RS like to level up a skill, it would probably blindly walk around the world, type random keys and click on random objects for a while. You'd need a way for it to know that it's progressing, and for it learn that whatever object it just clicked on is how to progress. There's a LOT more variables, but it's definitely possible. Although, it may take much, much longer to learn since the other AIs were able to run millions of games in a short amount of time, whereas an AI in RS would have to play at the same speed as human players. Yes, the AI would probably be caught and banned. It's only task was to, say, level up. It has no concerns on how it does this, just as long as it gets it done. A good bot is designed to appear as human as possible, so that means slower clicking, breaks, mistakes, etc.. You might be able to give an AI the task of appearing human, but it would need outside data of how real humans play RS, and probably A LOT of it.

Robert Lipshultz Sorry but ur clueless for saying this. bosses like AoD and Telos can give more than 40-50m/h in long term .. but ionly if ur top tier pvmer. Even if ur medium pvmer it can be 15-20m/h. Araxxor can alsobe like 15m/h+ (deppends on luck on rares) and if u duo can be like 25m. gwd2 bosses (vindicta / greg) can be 15m+ /h in long term aswell. not sure on solak's gp/h but im pretty sure is very good aswell.. not just that - bosses like qbd - gwd1 and hard mobs like rune dragons, archmon mammoths , warrior camels and others can be very hard to bot and also very good gp/h (like 6m+) the point is that its way too hard to make these scripts because top tier pvm in RS3 is waaay harder thgan osrs since EOC is way more complex. im prety sure making a top tier pvm bots on RS3 is at least 100 times harder to make than osrs.. thats why we see them using bot teams in gwd1 on osrs.. its worth way more the effort. i play both - osrs and rs3. But when peopl say RS3 has 10 times less bots than OSRS its true... osrs due to have old style and simple combat system , makes everything easier for bots.

You know what, I had a strange script back in the day. So back in the day my account got banned for an exploit. I think it was over the exploit, maybe me being toxic. You pick one, go with it. I had a friend write a script that read back end code to solve what drop party drops would go where. It worked around the browser times all the way party room. I think this script went a few years unnoticed, I used an alt to run it and all it did was overlay where big drops would be in the room. One day, I think the day they noticed me and banned me, a friend held a drop party, 19 party hats and 35 santa hats mixed with hundreds of sets of end game gear for the time. I have no clue how many masks but I walked out with over half that "friends" bank and nobody thought I was standing near anything. I went to large drop party's and left entire groups poor at a drop party I randomly showed up for. I could use this for a lot of things actually, left it on. Before loot beams it told me about loot drops, it told me when other people got drops. It even told me the value of a dead body (in the form of a list of drops) before looking. I have watched groups wipe on gw1 bosses and waited to grab their loot, just the good stuff, and get out of there. I am not proud of this, I did not sell the gold nor transfer it. It all went down with the ship as intended.

To be clear, not sure they fixed it so much as about the time of these events that account was banned and the computer got destroyed holding the code. I paid like 45 bucks back in the day. I remember 15 years ago setting up an auto clicker to raise my mining lvl to be able to mine runite. Horribly slow computers and even worse internet made this nearly impossible. My friends gave up on it but I just kept thinking about how much money could be made if only I found a better way to create a secret system. Would be nice if I was a little more determined, its crazy to remember thinking about getting into this and making so much money and now to see how much botting has evolved and how much actual money is made from it. I feel like I let a million dollar ticket slip through my fingers, at the same time losing a ton of my life in this game, in the end I lost all my moral hard earned riches in the game as it morphed into the game it is today. Jagex doesn't care about their original players who helped this game grow and thrive. They constantly made changes against things that made this game great IMO. They act like they are so against bots it's all just a front, they only stop a small amount of bots to keep the status quo. But majority of bots they turn the other cheek as they make a ton of money from member bots. And I'm sure many members of jagex are even low key working with these bot companies as well.

I tried botting in osrs on an account that had over 2k hours playtime and I only did a melee training bot and was 2 day banned within a week. Their detection systems have improved ten fold since the old days. That doesn't mean you will get banned botting, I probably ran the combat script way too long. There are tons of things you can do to prevent being banned, one of them is obviously not running the script 12 hours a day lol. Private scripts are also amazing, basically no chance of being banned imo.

Dr. Orpheus Were al your account member accounts or regular accounts? Because Jagex banq the f2p bots way faster than the p2p bots since they don’t make any money off of these f2p accounts. But true now a days you need to be more carefull when using a bot

so what i want to know is, how do the bot developers combat the detection systems from jagex, are they going to use self learning? making the mouse movements and clicks super humanlike ? because if anyone can achieve a human like behavior its most likely not able to be detected.
@ericsarason90996 жыл бұрын
I'm not a bot developer but I think I can help a bit: TL;DR: probably a lot more than you think (please read though, I typed you an essay XD) There's a lot of things that may or may not help. These range from having human like mouse movements, the client "my friend" uses even has the ability to record your own mouse movements so they can be re-used by an AI, to not staying online for 3 days straight (break handlers), there's also things such as hovering over the expected location of the next click, such as in this clip you'll see that the script moves to where the "player" thinks the "deposit all" button will appear. media.giphy.com/media/xUOxfijYGDFPaRtC8g/giphy.gif There's also lots of debate over wherever or not Jagex actually detect the client itself, this had led to things such as "Mirror mode " and "Looking Glass"(used by Tribot(best bot ever)) which allows you to bot via a client such as OS buddy. The things we do know for at least 90% certain are that Jagex profile bots based on their playstyle being similar to previously confirmed and banned bots. This is why your ban will come quicker if the script you're using has 2000 other users as opposed to 10 other users. This is also why private scripts are so useful. To remedy the profiling issue we are facing most bot makers implement a randomised seed based on a value that is different for each player to generate a play-style (they usually use the account name) This will affect things such as wherever or not the bot will click repeatedly when attacking, how often it will randomly examine things, how often it will check xp and the camera angles it will prefer. They also take the age given upon account creation into account. For instance if you told them you are 16 when you make the account, then the bot plays constantly from 9am to 3pm red flags will show as the average 16 year old is in school at that time, for this reason botters tend to use ages 25-35 to hit the "failure living off of welfare playing runescape all day" trope. Lastly we know that Jagex mods do infact randomly run around manually inspecting people, we know this is because Jagex office hours 9am-6pm UK time are very dangerous to bot. Also all bans are manual, even when flagged by "BotWatch" this is evident due to the fact that you can suicide bot (bot with the intention of getting banned, making sure to transfer all wealth off before the ban hits) the entire weekend and just make sure to transfer to a mule before Mod Weath finishes his coffee and gets to work ruining all our hard work :(
@bcool1376 жыл бұрын
Of course nobody can say for sure what jagex does to ban bots, but botters seem to believe that it's more based on macro actions, rather than micro actions like mouse movements and clicks. They would pick up patterns in how your fishing or woodcutting. Or even look at times of day that you play, what you do when you play, if you only do one thing in the game. People also believe that fresh/new accounts are more heavily monitored and older accounts with more play time can get away with playstyles that seem more bot-like.

I don't play RS, but I do play an MMO where in game gold is very important. The problem I had was getting my hands on that gold. With a full time job and other outside activities I was probably the most broke person in the game, and I couldn't afford to upgrade gear when new updates came out, or simply try out new builds. I want to be careful with my wording here, but thanks to these bots and gold farmers I can simply pay a small fee and get my hands on millions of gold so I can enjoy the game again. This is why I probably have a different opinion about them than most people. Because of these bots I'm able to spend my time enjoying the game, instead of investing every free minute I have trying to make gold. Back in the day I used to resent them, now I just look at them like heroes. Pretty strong opinion, I know, but it's true. They are providing a useful service for people who have busy lives, but still want to enjoy online gaming. As long as they aren't hacking or blatantly cheating, I really have no problem with a few bots doing their thing.

what game do you play?

While I understand the sentiment, calling the bots "heros" is an incredible stretch lol. Though I'll admit that have also before enjoyed not having to pick and spin flax all day for bow strings that bots farm, it quite irks me they basically devalue everything single thing in the game. You look at a player with a godsword, or 99 rc, or anything else and one of the first thoughts that arises is, "He probably just paid for that sword. Or he simply botted his way to max rc." Nothing means anything anymore, even if you obtained it legitimately. Another downside is that there are areas in the game that bots can clutter up making it hard for real people to even play. Why on earth would I ever try to mine runite ore when I'm not competing with real people? It's likely one guy with 6 accounts on a timer that log in, mine the rocks, and log out. I miss the feeling being able to sell the things I worked hard getting for a good price instead of bots flooding the market with items, lowering the price, and no one was there to work for it at all. Just one guy away from his computer, raking it in. You said you don't play RS so I apologize for all the references. But anyway, it really is a double-edged sword. Though in my opinion it weighs more heavily on the negative side.

I understand the need to ban bots. But I understand why one would bot as well. The problem is: Grind. If there is grind there will be people who will want to just skip to the fun part (provided grinding is just repetitive and gets old fast). Grinding for money, grinding for stats, etc eventually becomes a chore.. If you don't want your community to bot either make it easier to level up\acquire currency (which might be game breaking), make the game on a hard to bot engine, Implement bots into your game (In a way that bots are easily accessible for everybody, however,giving debuffs to players currently boting). Outright banning botters will hurt your game in the short term, with no insurance that in the long term it'll be a good change.

Btw the script price complexity he was talking about is as follows. 1. Ability to take scheduled/random breaks/rest 2. Human like mouse movement and clicks 3. How comprehensive is the pathing? 4. Does it do one task or multiple possible tasks 5. Bank support 6. Potion support 7. Food support 8. Anti ban features 9. Can the bot communicate? 10. How long can it be ran for safely? 11. Xp per hour 12. How many bans? 13. Is it capable of performing a task better than humans? 14. Can it be run effectively on a bot farm/ multiple clients 15. Is it unique?

I used to script and run a bunch of botfarms in the 2013-2014 era when gp was at around $3/m. The best earning method I found was rogues castle, which only required 84 thieving and generated up to 1m per account per hour. With 20 accounts that was $40-60 USD per hour, so obviously I ran it like 12 hours a day. Got banned around once a month and started fresh with a new batch.

Hey Crumb, can u ask Articron why doesn't he just write his scripting code in C or C++ and hook it up to the Java code through the JNI? Would it not make a difference since he's directly using compiled machine code rather than java's bytecode? Also, why doesn't Jagex just make their own special "legal" bot that only allows for grinding? Grinding is a bitch to do in any RPG game, at least having a special grinding bot would remove that pain.
@Crumb6 жыл бұрын
The bot APIs are coded in java since the game is coded in Java. It makes sense to use the same language. You know the principal's behind linking different languages can get quite difficult. On top of that Java runs on just about everything.

Tbh as long as your not boting for more then 3 hours at a time and keeping track of the bot and performing some human clicks everyone once in a while you should be okay with not getting banned. I botted my account only for fishing and woodcutting and I botted it up to 60 on two accounts with no bans
Its pretty important to be fluent in Java before coding. You should really learn the in's and out's of Java (which could take months) before learning the API for botting. It will make things a lot easier and you'll actually have a life skill versus learning how to basically copy/paste code to get a bot working. Of course he's not going to tell you to do this because if you do just learn Java you wouldn't pay him to teach you how to just do code snippets.
