For the most part, Obito and Itachi were calculating and efficient in the Uchiha massacre while Obito here is essentially splattering the Hidden Mist in the most painful way possible to die with wood styles erupting from their bodies and getting bludgeoned. Also quite the irony that Obito here turned the "Blood Mist" shinobi into real blood mist.

It follows into the whole an uchiha eye become more powerful when they experience hatred. Uchiha experience hatred because they lost that someone or something they love so much their chakra and brain undergoes a change. The more they loved the greater the power when that love is taken. Zetsu commenting on why madara chose obito was precisely because obito loved the leaf village , loved his freinds and loved rin most of all. He has been observing the leaf for years until he found an uchiha he could mold. Arranging the entire scenario with rin and the three tails to break obito into dispair. As obito had already been under madara care for months the idea of what he wanted to achieve was already implanted. It just needed a catalyst to take hold in obito mind. A more subtle form of brain washing taking advantage of the change in obito brain and chakra to make him his full proxy. To the point obito would not hesitate to attack the leaf and strike at his former mentor. Obito chose this path he was still manipulated into making that choice. Once his mindset was broken.

I agree that she was presented way to suddenly without proper built up, but that's because, if you have read his interviews, Kishimoto wanted to finish the series as quickly as possible because he couldn't handle the absurd amount of work required back in the day to publish a weekly series (and still hasn't improved enough, but definitely has gotten at least better since authors are allowed to take a week off every three weeks or stop the publication when they have health issues).

Whose idea was it to take multiple decades of work; character development, and bonding with characters - people straight up growing up alongside these characters - and just throw it all on the backburner? They stick to giving us bread crumbs of what we want just to milk our engagement. If they wanted a naruto-verse show with entirely different characters, it might as well have been either before or after Naruto existed, so that they could go hog-wild with new concepts. As it stands it seems like they're trying to shoe-horn in an entirely different narrative, at the cost of continuity issues and blatant plot armor shifting. Yeah we're not forced to watch this and people may enjoy it, but as someone who has rewatched Naruto and Shippuden, Boruto is a huge miss when it comes to quality. The next part of Boruto will be at the end of the decade, because even the studio acknowledges they need more time figuring out how to make Boruto good. imo, the whole concept is a miss. The uncensored version was only later made available through DVD and BD releases. I don't think Crunchyroll ever bothers with replacing their footage, so unless they licensed an older series, where uncensored footage is already widely available, they tend to only have the TV versions, which may be censored depending on the timeslot. Bleach also had some episodes, that were heavily censored on jp TV and thus Crunchy too with edited out blood and changed SFX (most notorious the kenpachi vs nnoitra fight), but for Bleach the censorship on jp TV in general was not as much as for Naruto.
