Crusade was going to end up much more complex. It started simpler, but they had a story they were going to tell about corruption (with the Technomages, with Earth Force). But, they had to get things set up, and TNT interfered

I like Crusade as the set up for what it was meant to make. I wish we got more of that story. The worst part of it is the music.

Correct. It's not garbage. It's just not what you would expect after B5, and it's frustrating that it was cut short. Imagine if B5 had been cancelled in the middle of season 1.

Exactly, at only 13eps B5 would just be remembered as an eccentric little series about fighting off raiders and protecting shipping lanes.

The biggest issue with Crusade is the soundtrack, Christopher Frank had a way to set the mood and enhance the scenes, this sound track doesn't bring the B5 mood.

The frustrating thing about Crusade is what it could've been under a friendlier, less invasive network; I really wish it could be given a second crack of the whip but it seems someone other than JMS owns the IP rights

The cast is generally pretty damn good but I think this series would have been amazing with Tony Todd in the captain's chair. Also while I like Daniel Dae Kim his character is too boxed in.

Loved that show and loved Policce drummer Stuart Copeland’s theme music. Copeland was the original B5 composer before he was replaced by Christopher Franke. I’ve wondered if he was related to John Copeland but could not find any evidence.

I kinda like the music. I'm guessing the idea was to racket up the tempo each season over 5 years, literally. So that you'll land up with a pretty frantic theme by the 5th year after starting out all serene and mysterious.

One reason this is different in some ways is that the networkexecs did a lot of messing with it. That is part of why JMS pulled the plug.

Personally I like Crusade and I love the Excalibur. It's just not finished, so it's not good quality and not good enough sadly. If it had gotten more time, it would've been an interesting show, probably not on par with B5, nothing can be, but pretty good nonetheless.

Billions of lives at stake and the technomage thinks the convenience of a small village was more important. One of my major complaints was that it appeared that in B5, care was taken to get the details reasonably right, most of the time, while thinking about Crusade usually led to logical or moral inconsistencies.
