Full-time crutch user here! and my crutches already have suspension.🤘 They're called Flexifoot, they pretty decent. They massively cut down the shock going through your wrists and shoulders (I can burn through those "Heavy-duty" ferrules in two weeks, my record is 6 days - I've had a little practice). These last about a year and provide much better grip, they also allow you to carry your momentum (I walk faster than the average commuter, walking slower takes more effort). A word of advice, go careful with the handles and there is a lot of pressure going to that weld (don't want to end up more disabled...😏). You can even see the fatigue marks where the plastic has turned white (both where the plastic meets the top of the pole and where the handle joins the side of it and they're rated for twice my weight). Plus you can get crutches with lights/ torches built-in. Protip: Bike mitts! Better grip and protect your hands when (not if) you slip. PS: Bottle holders on crutches are pointless, I'll let you discover why (and any added weight seriously screws with balance, they become pendulums). Pockets or a backpack work best, most people can figure out the logistics (if I have two hands and two crutches, how many hands do I have left..? 🤔), but you get the occasional store staff who think you're STEALING! If you need more capacity you can tie a suitcase to your belt (velcro straps work better) and tow it. Fun fact: There's a nickname for disabled who adapt well: "Supercrip" (I don't know where the etymology came from...) Edit: Almost forget, I'd make them a little longer than possibly making them too short as it helps a with stability.

As he's familiarizing himself with the crew, he notices an old man with a peg leg, a hook, and an eye patch. Intrigued by all of these injuries, he walks up to the man. "It looks like you've seen quite a bit of action," he says to the old man, "I'd be interested to hear your story." ... "Aye," says the old man, "tis quite a tale." "How'd you lose your leg?" Asks the recruit. "Aye." Says the old man, "We were in battle, and a cannon shot took me leg off at the knee." "That's terrible!" Says the recruit. "How did you lose your hand?" "Aye." Says the old man, "We were in a gale and I was tossed into the sea. A shark bit of me hand as I clung to a board, and that's how I got me hook." "Alas!" Cried the recruit, "I can't imagine how you got your eye patch." "Aye." Says the old man, "Twas a clear day and I look up to watch the clouds when a sea gull flies o're and shits in me eye." "Well that's terrible," says the recruit, "but surely sea gull shit doesn't blind you?" "Nay." Says the old man, "But twas the first day with me hook."

Dude , I'm a huge fan of your creations ! I also thoroughly enjoy all of the wonderful nonsense and antics involved in all of your videos ! I for one, happen to think that you're extremely funny..! B U T.., I must admit that, the very best thing I like about your channel is your wife's laugh ! ! ! It's ' EFFIN AWESOME ! ' Every time I hear her laughter, It makes me want to crack up even harder ! ! ! Any one can tell she's not being hypocritical or just exaggerating, to boost up your subscriptions! It's real, it's raw, and it's hilariously contagious ! In fact, I feel that, what makes this channel so damn good is the chemistry you two share amongst each other ! You two seem to totally love and enjoy each others company ! It comes across so clearly on the screen also ! That's a rarity between couples these days, or in almost any era of time actually ! You two should feel very proud about that ! Well, enough of this mushy $#!T mate ! Get your @$$ Cracking and back to work on those videos ! They don't make them selves you know ? Oh and, break a leg on the next one 👍 ! ! !

Just imagine what would happen if @Turnah81 and Colin Furze started giving each other build challenges. Not only would it be extremely interesting and lots of fun to see what crazy ‘bits & bobs™️’ they would come up with. It would certainly also result in a massive subscriber boost for Turnah81. Not that you have a small channel by any means Craig, but it is kinda’ hard to compete with Colins 5 Guinness world records, multiple television appearances, and his 10.6M KZbin subscribers. I do believe I’ve heard you say in a video once, that you just do this KZbin thing for fun. Either way, I love the content from both of you. Yours probably more than his, but don’t tell him I said that. 😜

I had a similar problem with my walking sticks. Luckily there's a wee ferrule called the flexi foot in the uk, it totally saved my shoulder from shocks. It's just a rubber/plastic spring. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a sensible shock absorbing idea for crutches and walking sticks. I do like your idea though, as always!
@garethevans97894 жыл бұрын
In London, I've only other seen one other person with Flexyfoot using them and she brought them on my recommendation. It's a shame as last far longer and works out cheaper (if people actually put weight through them, you can see the subtle timing differences from a mile off. I saw a couple who were using crutches like ski poles.😅). Anyway, I'd hate to know how much damage those crappy "NHS" crutches are doing to people. The amount of shock/ jarring is ridiculous! Oh, I had a bone scan a few years back, and the bone density of my arms and shoulders did surprise them. One actually asked if I work out.😏
@ewanmurray1534 жыл бұрын
@@garethevans9789 oh they're worth the tenner or whatever it costs. I've been using it solidly for over two years and I still haven't needed to replace the foot part. It got rid of the shoulder pain and is great on pretty much any surface - down with NHS supplied ferrules!

@turgsh014 жыл бұрын
Have you considered using a smaller shock absorber... like one used for a car boot lid? So much smaller / lighter, surprisingly still plenty strong enough for what you want to use it for, it'd fit right inside the shaft of the crutches. Pogo sticks are designed for all of your weight plus jumping... and using 2 of them requires twice the weight to have them compress. Smaller shock absorbers like the ones on boot lids would be able to compress under your weight if using 1, x2 should in theory be able to support your weight. If not, I'm sure there are other ones out there that aren't too much bigger and just as inexpensive.

Hi Craig, just a heads up mate, did you know that you can buy spring loaded hiking sticks off ebay !! I have a broken back (3 times) and both knees need replacing and I saw these sticks on ebay, so I bought a pair for $18 aus, brilliant ! The sticks are a God send mate, they can be locked or unlock and I use one everyday unlocked and there bloody brilliant, getting back to your build, I think if you cut the grips off the hiking sticks the metal tube should go bloody close to sliding inside your elbow crutch tube !! Might save you a lot of work mate, just a thought that's all. Seeya Rob..................if your wondering I'm a 63yr old retired mechanical and automotive engineer, so I do know what your trying to accomplish mate, I was thinking of the same thing till I found these sticks, problem solved and the hiking sticks are VERY light, which is a big thing when your lugging them around all day !!
