I've a squirrel who jumps on the back of my lanai chair and knocks on my sliding glass door for me to hand her out a walnut. I've fed her since she was a juvenile who lost her mother. They're very smart and fun to watch. They study a problem and I enjoy watching the gears turn in their little heads. Mine seem to prefer the walnuts over pecans. They sit on a table eating the nuts and dropping little bits that the finches collect later. Thanks for the video. Really enjoyed it.

You have a good sense of humor dealing with those furry little demons. I have been entertaining and scaring my neighbors with my fits of frustration. My set up to feed the birds is different and options are limited. I rent a town home and have my feeders hanging from bracket hooks attached to wooden roof pillars. I have a baffle above the feeders, but the demons crawl up the wooden pillar and knock the feeder around, spilling the feed all over. I am thinking of hanging a second baffle directly under the feeder itself, hoping that works.

Awesome video. I saw another one a few years ago. Tried it and and have not had one fail. I used a standard 10’ ground rod. One clamp on the rod about 12 inches from the top. A pvc cap with a hole to fit over the ground rod A 4” pvc tube fitted to the cap. And built a bird feeder / house on the top. The squirrels can’t jump the 7 feet. They can climb the rod but can’t get through the cap or climb outside the tube. I can move it anywhere there is not a taller structure for them to jump across.
@ripthereverb3 жыл бұрын
I found this video most informative and also was fun to watch. When checking Google on how high a squirrel can jump, there is so many measurement variables that are confusing and with so many different measurements, one is not sure how high to place a feeder. This video where you actually show the “fine line” at 47” is very good especially for some of us with hanging height problems. I set my one feeder at 47” and my other at 51”. Well over a week now and no squirrels made it. Thank you for your time in order to help us viewers get the proper height limit.
