This is a good video to silence the haters. The squirrels get plenty of grub from you guys (plenty of exercise too while trying to get to it) and this is a nice way to show the rascals your appreciation. Good way to assemble data also about which foods they prefer. I use to hand feed some squirrels on my back deck and for what it's worth they preferred peanuts over everything else. Pecans were their second choice as I recall. Nice video guys.

That extreme close up was amusing. What they ate was very interesting. I would have figured the nuts would have been more popular. Your cat made me laugh eating the corn. I had no clue that blue jays were such bullies. And a little greedy it seems. I also had no clue birds liked peanuts. I found that interesting. Great video as always.

Great video my friend. I think it's only the right thing to do, to give the squirrels their own feeding station . .They have given your subs a lot of fun, and I'm sure they have boosted your sub numbers! Here in the UK, traditionally squirrels eat a lot of acorns. If you have Oak trees around your area, that may be worth a try . . Love your 'Blue Jays'. We don't have them here as far as I know. Those bright red birds are beautiful! We don't have them either. I get a lot of Starlings, Sparrows, Blue tits, greenfinches, Magpies etc at my bird feeding station, but they are quite boring compared to yours! Love what you built for them though . .kudos. Well done my friend. And a very Happy New Year to you and your family bro . . .

Loved the video! 👍 Ironically, today I had my very first Red Bellied Woodpecker at my feeder alongside a couple Bluejays. You're right, the woodpecker is not intimidated at all by the bully Bluejays. LOL! Btw, your Woodpecker's head is red but he's a Red "Bellied" Woodpecker. The Redheaded Woodpecker's entire head is red and the Red Bellied Woodpecker's head looks like a red mohawk from beak to nape (like your bird) and the belly is a very pale red/orange as if it had a light dusting of rouge which makes it difficult to see unless they're hanging upside down. I've gotten into birding the last 2 years and use the Merlin bird identification app. It's very informative. Check it out if you have an interest. Thanks for sharing and showing how you made the squirrel bar and cute bar stools. 🙂

The only thing that actually surprised me was the sunflower seeds winning out over the peanuts. I would be curious if the pecans would stay near 21% if they weren't already shelled though. That said, I also bet they'd use the stools a lot more if they were just an inch or two higher so the squirrels didn't have to stretch out and reach so much to get into the cups from them. Was definitely fun to watch them and the jays/woodpecker bar fights too.😂
@CruzesLouisianaOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Hmmmm....pecans in the shell...that would be an interesting experiment...shells vs no shells...noted :-) Yea if I were to make her again I'd do a few changes...I think height is ok but the stools bout 3" closer to the buckets would be the ticket I think. Thanks for stopping by!

Great experiment, the squirrels I feed like the seeds best too, but they also LOVE almonds, then pecans, The peanuts I give them in shell they take away and bury, but when I throw unsalted dry roasted peanuts without shell they eat right away. Also I noticed any nut in shell they take away and bury. Except the sunflower seeds. Thank you for the upload, really great video👍🏻🐿

It would be a very cold day before I would feed squirrels ANY kind of nuts. Cashews are $10 a pound as are almonds, pecans, etc...If I could afford to buy them they would go into my mouth, not theirs. I do love your videos and have enjoyed the laughs I've gotten from them. If you have any spare nuts left over you could send some of them to me. We don't get good pecans up here in the North and I can't afford them.
