Kage's backstory killed me. That sort of thing, with someone, esp a kid, being alone, sad, scared, hungry, and then being mistreated.. absolutely destroys me. And THEN the stuff with Bojji, By the end of the ep I was a sobbing mess.

BOjji is strong!! In the kingdom they only respect fighting that shows brute strength like the giant king, any other fighting style is scene as unworthy or lower class. This is a classic noble hierarchy and old tradition versus new and different ideas story line.. I love this show.

I don't think Domas was trying to teach Boji something by allowing the beating, rather I think he realised the same thing that the Snake handler was referring to: if Bojji continued dodging and won, the soldiers would take it as an underhanded/cheated victory. You have to keep in mind this world isn't exactly real life medieval times; you have ranking of Kings in this world and apparently personal might and honor are big requirements for a king, as in a King must fight in a 'forthright way', exchanging blows with the opponent, not 'sneakily dodging around'... Bojji's talent and way of fighting are considered 'un-kingly' by his subjects; I still think Domas didn't do it out of cruelty towards Bojji, but more as a form of 'political damage control' for Bojji's image as the first prince; also I don't think he stopped the fight earlier, because I assume a duel is supposed to continue until one party is unconscious or concedes, but Bojji kept getting back up, until the Spear guy interfered to stopped the duel and Bojji finally fainted (only at that point did Domas 'declare' a winner). I think a big point in this show is the expectations and social norms in regard to kings in this world and the main drive will be Bojji overthrowing the norms by proving he can be the 'greatest king' by doing things differently that expected.

Domas obviously would prefer training the brother judging by the last episode and probably feels like he’s wasting his time training him, he understimates bojji a lot and thinks that he just can’t do it, he still cares about him a lot i would think but yeah...

The storytelling is next level, the phrase "That is not a swordsmanship of a King" hits hard. We all know Bojii won that fight. But in their spar it would really look like Boji is playing dirty in the eyes of some common guards who is used to the straightforward swordplay. His mentor is trying to tell him if you want to prove to your men that you're a King they can follow to battle you should display your strength. Boji immediately understood and thats why he tried to display his strength by accepting the blow which caused him to get beaten up.

Not gonna lie this episode was hard to watch it felt so real. This show is incredibly good at showing that (so far) there are no bad guys just people making bad decisions and or moral judgments. Thats what makes this beautiful but hard for me, because these people are fully able to be on Boji's side, they jus choose not to because of social norms. Love your videos I always watch them right after finishing the episode : )

No it didn’t go over my head at all. His teacher is not “trustworthy” like Kage said in this episode and you can tell this how he didn’t stop the fight at all when he saw his pupil get violently beat up by his own brother. It took someone else to step in and stop the fight. But I guess that went over your head too I see 🤣🤣🤣

When it comes to them not liking Bojiis dodging, you have to think about the society they were born, raised, and live in. The current king is loved and respected by EVERYONE. This monolith of a man, whose fighting style was overwhelming strength and destruction. Dhomas even said his style is meant to imitate the King's. In this society, being powerful and overwhelming strong seems to be more important, and dodging seems cowardly in comparison.

About what was said to him. Basically even though Bojii can dodge and can hit his oppenent he can't actually beat his opponent. Because he has THAT little physical strength. But people won't interpret it like they should. Because what it looks like is a master taunting someone weaker than them by constantly booping them on the head. It's insulting to someone you're supposed to be having a serious match with. And yeah : Totally cried. No regrets.

Tears were indeed shed at the end there. As for the fight scene, his dodgy way of fighting was beeing seen as unkingly by his subjects. If he lost that was it and he was a loser, if he won his name would be in the mud. There was no winning for our boy Bojji there, as Benin said, Domas' cruel advice was actually better than letting him carry on
