I think this is more common than we might think. I lost my period as a teenager because of intentional caloric restriction and overtraining for weight loss purposes. We are all bombarded with imagery of how we are supposed to look and if our bodies don't fit into that "ideal" many of us turn to unhealthy behaviors to try to get there. That was certainly my case. I am very glad the loss of my period was enough for me to recognize the path I was on wasn't a healthy one. Thanks for this content...it's so important that there are good role models for women out there.

My bf daughter had 2 periods during the yr. She finally told me and I know it's bc she hardly eats ugh and it made her have less energy. But her Dr is on the case.

@amyvanmatre94096 ай бұрын
@@karlikecar hi there! I don’t know if it’s possible for you since you probably don’t have complete control over the food you have available at your age (like living at your parent’s house) but the healthiest foods out there are whole plants, so fruits, veggies, beans, whole grains, nuts and seeds. If you eat primarily these and try to eat a large volume of them you will be healthy and should have enough energy back to see your period come back. It took me a few months to go back to entirely regular. I try to focus on the quality of food rather than counting calories or macros because I had some really destructive behaviors around those activities. I wish you the best! I will add that if your restricting has led to the loss of your period it is more important that you eat anything than that you worry about what food it is, but it made it easier for me to eat a lot if I knew it was something that had nutrition too.

@@amyvanmatre9409 I forgot to reply to you then, but i just thought of your comment there because today i got it back and it's like proper for the first time, i ate more seeds and nuts, completely ignore calories and started eating more 'natural' food yk like non processed thank you sm for ur advice it helped me soooo much Godbless you

I defo needed this video!!! I haven’t had a period for over 3 months now and it’s really frustrating me so from watching this video, I’ve decided to make a new year’s resolution of doing regular exercise and eating lots of fruit and vegetables as they’re better than taking tablets and causing numerous side effects lol! Thanks for sharing this with us 👍🏿 I really appreciate it.

I’m 17 and haven’t had my period in around 10 months. I got diagnosed with IBS and before that everything irritated my stomach to the point I was only eating bananas on toast. I went from 118lb to 103lb in only a few months. I’m now 110lb but it’s still not back. Also I have been trying to eat more but bc my diet has changed it’s so hard to find anything I can eat that is safe and can help me gain more. I also have awful stress which is thankfully getting somewhat better(praise God) but it’s just an awful feeling when your body seems broken, I’m glad people like you are out there trying to help and I pray my body can heal too🩷

I’m 16 and i have not had my period for about 10 months. I’m 122lbs (55kg) and 5’2 and i believe i lost my period due to over exercising and under eating. Because of my sport (wrestling) i have to workout a lot and sometimes have 2 practices a day. I have been upping my calorie intake as well as all the macros and have a balanced diet. Im hoping to get my period back very soon but if i’m being honest i’m scared of weight gain because i hate my body. I know it will be worth it since all i want is my period so i can be healthy and normal again

I love this video so much. I found your channel when I lost my own period and following you has really helped my own journey. ❤️ I also found that exercising (especially strength training) was super helpful for me to increase my appetite to get me to eat more, and I love that you shared your own experience with this!! I was so scared that I was doing something wrong, but I also knew I was at a point where I really needed to increase my strength. i am so grateful that once I entered a healthy weight, my cycle came back. ❤️ I know that’s not everyone’s experience, and I’m definitely incorporating other (very similar!!) lifestyle measures, but I couldn’t agree more that the healthful exercise component isn’t talked about as much!!

It's so annoying because I was really stressed over these anxiety symptoms I got before my exams and that caused me to stop eating as much but then when I realised my period was late I started stressing over that and at this point I have no idea what's really causing this (I checked my weight too and it's perfectly healthy apparently and my exams are all over, yet nothing after nearly 2 months😭😭)

@@lorrainebanda-ohleff8292 I think I tried eating a bit more (because I was lowkey underweight around then), but to be honest, I think not being AS stressed helped it a little😭because my period has now been pretty regular (30-35 days) and the only time it was really off (from the time I wrote my comment until now) was during this one stressful time and my period was delayed by 10 days, so I didn’t really do anything to “get it back” except eat a bit better and just be less stressed

UPDATE❗️❗️❗️ I GOT MY PERIOD BACK AFTER MISSING 1 MONTH😭😭 So what i did was controlling my food portions (doesn’t mean eating little but more like portioned equally like meat and veggies).I kept taking turmeric,ginger,fennel and cumin seed tea with a spoon of honey,I drank it for 3 days and drank it at night too. In addition i kept taking vitamin C gummies after meals either dinner or lunch.Also Ashwagandha tea really helped get that push for my period because prior my comment i was already on the ovulation side also with cramps but no signs of period. I also was making carrot,orange and apple juice for extra vitamins that my body lacked. I got my period yesterday and im still taking Ashwagandha tea up to now.I encourage you guys to eat more fruit and veggies.Very important note is to NOT let stress get over you because stress is a big factor to missed periods.Sleeping early in-fact helped my body and mind get the rest it needeed so please please please take good care of the body and get the rest you need!!

It's hard to have boundaries. I was in the same boat as you. I took every shift offered to me, sometimes working 12 hour shifts for 2 weeks in a row. It really wasn't good for my health. I am off right now after having my first child. I visited work and a coworker told me she is working a bunch in a row. They will continue to take advantage of us as long as we let them.

Thanks so much for sharing this. I myself went through the same troubles, naturally not eating enough, placing myself after work. What i still struggle a lot with is stress management ... what do you find helpful when suddenly stress is so high that you get completely overwhelmed ? Typically because of a new deadline at work or unforeseen changes
@CrystalKennings3 жыл бұрын
Thats a great question. When things get overwhelming at work I think its okay to talk to your boss/supervisor and let them know it's too much or that you need more time to work on something. It has helped me in the past although I know not everyone has bosses who care or understand
