I made this for myself and my family. I'm a Chicano and I remember having these when I was 8 years old in Mexico. My mom thought it was too much of hassle to make despite me always requesting them. Now I am a 31 year old man making these beautiful treats. It absolutely takes me back. Thank you for this wonderful video. You are a great teacher!

I'm in the process of making this for my family. I will be back to let you know how it turns out. I've been looking for the recipe for ages. Thank you so much for clear directions on how to make it. I've written the recipe down with all the instructions you've given, so i do not miss a step. I've had it before so i know i love this candy. Now lets see if i can make it because it's hard to find. Recently i found some but it wasn't like this so must have been made differently. This looks like the kind I used to get back in the 90's that was made by an Elderly Mexican lady in the neighborhood who sold it in the little market down the street from where I lived at the time. Again Thank you so much for sharing. ♥

I love this candy! Every time I go to Mexico I have to get the clear one with the big black seeds but I never see it where I live. Do you know what type of pumpkin/squash it might be? I just grew my own pumpkin and want to try this recipe. How long does the candy last? Does it have to be refrigerated?

If it helps, I think the one you're talking about is Chilacayote, or in English Fig Leaf gourd or Fig Leaf squash

How long should I let cool down before eating? Do I need to let them sit out an extended period of time?

Hello .. Looks delicious! You started out with a 8 pound pumpkin and are using half for this recipe. You didn’t say how much the pumpkin weighed after removing the seeds, skin and fibers for this recipe, maybe 3 pounds left?

I just made pumpkin candy using your recipe, it's delicious. Does the candy dry up? Mine feels wet. Is that normal?
@gracielacanales1439Ай бұрын
I was wondering the same thing. It's delicious but still wet after 2 days of drying.

@Your-Least-Favorite-Stranger4 ай бұрын
@@rockysjewel There are different types of pumpkin and some are more palatable than others. Jack-o-lantern pumpkins are more stringy and watery, pie pumpkins are more dense and fleshy - both would work, but the outcome will be different.

What does the hydrolyzed lime do? And is it necessary?
@baylady2113 ай бұрын
She mentioned in the video it is what keeps the pieces intact when they go in the boiling syrup. Otherwise I suspect they would disintegrate. Hope that helps!
